Hey, Ceej. Hope all is well with you. Are sign-ups still open for the new ARLA season for full-time cars? It looks like it for part-time only now. I'm posting this because I want to make sure I clarify the car rules with you before requesting a ride.

Dan Mealk Returns to ARLA to Run a Part-Time Schedule
Dan Mealk will return to ARLA to run a part-time schedule for RightDrive Motorsports, after being out of the series for 2 years resting at home with a leg injury. "It feels great to be back racing after these two grueling years. I have wanted to come back and compete for a while, and RightDrive Motorsports has given me this oppurtunity. The part-time schedule will help me re-adjust to the series, and will hopefully precede a full 2013 season."
It looks like the American will run the #94 Saar (with Orphanol fuel) for the TurnRight Motorsports team (depending on Ceej's approval), and will be sponsored by Jack's Jaguar Jerky. Team owner John Smith is very happy about the acquisition of Mealk.
Mealk's schedule:
Dallas
Daytona
Talladega
Indianapolis
New York
IRP
Rockford
(Ceej, is there anything I forgot or that I need to change? Am I aloud to get a second part-time team, or is Mealk it?)

Leanowens to partner with unnamed existing team for a part time ARLA campaign
Alexander Leanownes has already said that he is indeed very intersted in ARLA. The Englishman recently provided new information about this. Said Leanowens: "I met with a chap from one of the current teams about a part time deal. Things are looking bloody promising for 2012" (forgive me for my sterotype). Rumor has it that the team in question may be SuperCharged Racing, but this cannot be confirmed. It is also a serious possibility that a new team, possibly led by CRL driver John Pagen and a number of others including Leanowens father, will be formed.
Leanowens was born into an aristocratic family in the London suburb of Kensington, England. His family's money allowed him to persue a racing career. After a few years in British Touring Cars, he made his first oval start in 2009 and Rockingham (In England). He moved to America and began running races around the United States. Leanowens was one of the roatation of drivers to get seat time in the RTR Automotive Engineering #146 Inglesby.

Cody Keaton will not pilot #98 after disastrous testing session
Cody Keaton was scheduled to make his stock car racing debut in the #98 Nemoto for Kurt Walker Motorsports this season, but those plans will be scrapped after Keaton demolished 3 cars in a KWM test session at the newly-opened Dallas Speedpark.
Keaton, the son of KWM head engineer Jeff Keaton, reportedly lost control of his car in turn 2 and spun into the outside wall on all three occasions.
Said team owner Kurt Walker, who was supposed to split the #98 with Keaton as part of his semi-retirement, "After [today's test session], we decided that Cody needs more time to develop his abilities as a stock car driver, and we look forward to watching him bloom."
Cody Keaton is attempting to make the transition to stock cars after previously competing in open-wheel cars. He is coming off of a career-high 16th place in the 2011 Western Open-Wheel Challenge standings, and was the reserve driver for Quantum KeaTech, the Formula Overdrive team operated by his father.

Funds Fall Through, SuperCharged Racing Unable to Support Second Team
Months after the announcement that SuperCharged Racing would house a second car, a recent budget update has revealed that funds are not sufficient enough to field a second car. If funds become sufficient later in the season, SuperCharged Racing has said that David More would be the driver of choice.

Leanowens, road racing specialist to Brinson Engineering
Team owner Matt Brinson announced this earlier this morning that a deal has been reached with the Englishman Alexander Leanowens. Leanowens will see action at Road America, Mosport and Vancouver. Because Trey Ashby is already running the 5 race maximum for the #12 car, Leanowens will have to run as the #112. Fancy Ass Pens will carry over their backing.
"I'm excited to have Alexander and the road racing expertise he brings to the table. We were looking for a driver for a possible road course effort and Alex fits the bill perfectly. He's amassed quite a following in Europe for his aggressive driving style and firey personality, as well as that showmanship flair that you just don't see anymore in this day and age. Quite possibly one of the more flambouyant personalities I've come across, you just can't question this kid's commitment and will to win. He there to finish first and he'll make himself known, that's for sure."
Leanowens is expected to hold a press conference within the next 48 hours.

PSI Nearing Decision on Fuel Choice
Power Steering Incorporated head William Power stated today that PSI is in the final stages of determining which fuel it will run for the 2012 ARLA season.
"We've been running lots of tests to see which fuel is more symbiotic with our Engine Joe's motors. We've had some compatibility issues crop up with our new Tonare Thunderbolt chassis, but that's to be expected. We've planned on having all that technical stuff ironed out long before the start of the season and we're pretty much on schedule. Just a few more fact finding tests and we should be able to make a decision soon. By the way, does Orphanol Racing Fuels use foreign or domestic orphans?!" Power said with a chuckle.
To keep things even, Power added that "We have a nickname for Spirit Gasoline-- we call it "Ghost in the Machine" over at our garage!"

HotShot Racing down to only one car
As far as his team is concerned, Barney Ward will now be the only driver of HotShot Racing this season in the ARLA Elite Series. New ARLA teams are only allowed to use one car in their first season of ARLA competition, so this mean's that the 1 Car which was gonna be run by Henrietta LaVerne III, won't be raced at all this season. This officially means that LaVerne is now left without ride this season, but it is likely that she could replace anyone who gets suspended or injured throughout the 2012 season of ARLA.

Leanowens Press Conference
The racing media was called to a large country house in Grantham, England for a press conference. Alexander Leanowens walked up to a mahogany podium with a coat of arms on the front. "Sorry chap. Was on the hunt. Got a mighty good fox. Great house behind me. Shot parts of Downton Abbey here. I am proud to announce that I will be driving the Fancy Arse Pens Kivett in the ARLA Elite Series in 2012. Mr. Brinson approached me about having the car when they Ashby bloke wasn't in it. I said sure thing mate." Leanowens opened the floor for questions. He mentioned that he did not appear in the VSCC race in his own country for a perticular reason. "it was an event I would like to have been a part of, but you see old boy I was down in the Punjab, with the Raja, of the [coughs] Company Raj. I was down there for the [coughs] [i]Royal Zoological Society[i] to photograph the Bengal Tiger." he also received a few questions about the idenity of an elegantly dressed young lady standing next to him, but refused because the journalist in question wouldn't say her title. She revealed that she was "Lady Mary, Heiress in waiting to the Countess." "I'm certinally excited for the upcoming season", concluded Leanowens.

This is a recent quote From ARLA newcomer and driver of the the #92 Thunderline Motors car, Barney Ward in a press conference with his HotShot Racing team: "I am so excited about the upcoming ARLA season. The way the new cars have been designed is amazing, as my team has done a great job over pre-season working on my car and getting it prepared for my part-time year. If my part-time year goes well, I could be looking at a full-time drive with HotShot Racing in 2013."
Re: 2012 Team Chart/Silly Season Thread (ALL FULL-TIME CARS DUE 1/28)
The team chart has been updated. People fielding full-time teams have less than 48 hours to get their stuff in. If I don't have your cars by then, I will give certain part-time cars your spots.

Leanowens denied visa; will not run in 2012
Brinson Enterprises officials were excited to have Alexander Leanowens on board for Road America, Mosport and Vancouver. Accordingly, they were equally thrown into a state of disarray when team owner Matt Brinson learned this morning that Leanowens was denied entry into the U.S on the basis that he was a "threat to the country". U.S Customs agents launched a raid on the Leanowens residence but the driver was nowhere to be found. The U.K government is currently protesting the U.S's actions and calling them "misinformed and slanderous"
When asked about the incident, team owner Matthew Brinson said that he "had no idea of the accusations" and declined further comment.
No word yet on the future of the #112 team but Brinson stated that the operations of the #12 team and Trey Ashby would continue unaffected

Pushanda moves up to full time
It was announced that Vijay Pushanda and Math Motors will be taking a full time spot vacated by another team. Pushanda was too excited to formulate a respose.

Nope, I've been here since August and I was involved heavily with the series right from the get go, I have full time spot due to another person not confirming their team for a FT ride...
It's basically the owner's choice to say who has a FT spot and the rest are PT spots.

Pushanda to split Pi car
In a recent announcement Math Motors recived a full time slot in ARLA, well recently, it has been announced Vijay Pushanda, who was suppost to drive the full season for them, will only run selected races, Pushanda said, "The reason why I am not running full time, will be revealed shortly. But I can't or won't release that reason yet." It is expected Vijay has someride lined up, maybe in the TM Lights. It is unkown who is set to split with Pushanda.

Borland announced to split Pi car with Pushanda
While already announced to be running part time with A1 Racing, Phillip Borland was given a last-second offer to drive the Pi car for selected races in 2012 while Vijay Pushanda drives for the rest. Borland joked that he'd be "The first ARLA driver to win a championship for two different cars in one season!". It should be noted that Borland will still not drive the full season

Brinson to R&D for Kivett
Team owner Matt Brinson is the sort of person you'd see working under the car in the garage, rather than owning a team. The young man spends his afternoons working in the shop and fabricating chassis, far from what the regular suit and tie team owners practice now. Clad in a Fancy Ass Pens polo and blue jeans, one would never suspect that Brinson, holding a Masters degree in Motorsport Engineering, would be the head of this small operation. For someone in charge of a race team, Brinson does just as much if not more than a majority of his own personnel in terms of hard, backbreaking labor
"It's just what I do. Who are you to say that you're too good to get your hands dirty?" Brinson says. " I like working on these cars and doing whatever I can to make them that much faster. It's the technicals that win races, not sitting in your fancy office chair"
Perhaps it's what makes him so likeable with his own employees. Around the shop, his poise and leadership commands respect. Maybe it's also why the Kivett has asked him to assist in developing their Spade.
Being a part time team means running select races. In Brinson Engineering's case, they aren't preparing for Daytona but are instead making their debut at the third round in Carbondale. That Brinson says, was part of the reason why Kivett came calling. "It's quite simple. Right now, we're just running laps with Trey behind the wheel at North Wilkesboro and Kivett asked if we would be interested about working with some of their R&D personnel. I could'nt pick up the phone fast enough to tell them yes!"
Brinson's engineering background doesen't hurt either. A graduate of Old Dominion University and racer himself, Brinson knows few tricks behind designing speed. That chassis on the #12? Brinson says that he tweaked the track width to better suit low speed stability. "Developing a race car is like a fun puzzle to me. I look at it as a blank canvas, and I just go to work on it." Among other things, Brinson has also developed a proprietary driver cooling system that is 4 pounds lighter than the typical Kool-Box and crafts his own shock absorbers in-house. "If I can find a better way", he says, "I will."
The team and Trey Ashby will spend this weekend testing suspension packages at North Wilkesboro Speedway this weekend in collaberation with KivettSport engineers. "It's a great oppritunity to be able to do some work with Kivett and I hope that this will allow us to open some doors in the future" Brinson told reporters, hunched under his car with a wrench in one hand and a rear spring in the other. Typical Brinson fashion.
