2012 Silly Season Thread
Do you have rumors? Think they might not be true? I don't care, post all the rumors you want! Feel free to promote your team, driver, spread lies, etc.
If you don't see your team/driver on the list right now and you are in the series now, I probably just need confirmation from you that your team/drivers will be returning.
Aftershock Racing not returning in 2012?
Rumors are abuzz that Aftershock Racing, the team that won Daytona with Andy Lambert, will not return in 2012, citing lack of performance and loss of sponsorship at the end of the season. The team currently fields Chevrolet Impalas for Andy Lambert and Sam Smith.
Laaksonen and Kowalczyk back to Rally Cars at end of season? CONFIRMED
Kristoffer Laaksonen, driver of the #31 Matco Tools Chevrolet Impala for Johnson Racing, will not be returning to that ride at the end of the season. He will instead return to Finland to continue his Rally Car career. It is believed that despite being 2nd in the points, he still has not completely gotten the hang of the much heavier PCC Cup car and prefers the Rally Car body.
Izaak Kowalczyk will also not be returning to the PCC Cup next season. He has already stated that he feels uncomfortable in the American garages, and prefers Rally Cars to the PCC Cup cars.
Stephans Racing to switch to Tonare in 2012
Stephans Racing, who has been aligned with Gasnier for the past 3 seasons, will switch to run the Tonare Thunder GT model next season. Chris Benson will run full-time next season in an attempt to capture Rookie of the Year. The #83 car, which Kenny Stephans has driven since 2009, will change to #55, which Benson will drive.

Great Lakes considering 3rd-car, seeking driver
GLM owner Jim More has already confirmed that the team will be running two-entries next season. However, More today said that it could be three. The team is currently seek driver resumes.
"If we can find a driver with enough promise, we'll go ahead and run a 3rd car. We already have the sponsor ready."
(OCC: PM you driver suggestion if you interested. They only reason I'm doing this is I know there is a couple of driver that are going to be looking for rides.)

Changes made after primary sponsor winds up pulling out due to financial concerns... Also, the team to use the Interceptor instead of the Striker SS?
With the recent news of Best Buy the primary sponsor for Greg Woodard for the 2012 PCC cup season, pulling out due to a financial implosion, the team went searching for another sponsor. Jack in the Box a fast food chain, has stepped up to fill in for the now defunct sponsor position.
The Lycoia Motors Corporation, the chassis supplier for the team, has stated that the Striker SS manufacturing plant was recently overrun by zombies, and that a new chassis is currently in the works. Said zombies are dealing with the armed locals, law enforcement, and military forces at the Midland Texas Plant.
The experimental chassis, dubbed the Interceptor will attempt to debut at Cleveland, it will however, be the primary chassis in 2012.

Hetzel to run Factory BMW team
David Hetzel will return to full time PCC Cup competition, next year, when it was announced that his team, DDH Racing would receive support from BMW. Hetzel has already planned to run Phoenix and Cleavland with funding from long time supporter Pilot Travel Centers. The car will be number 17 just like this year, and will basically be the same paint-job. Former driver Raddigan Connigher, who had previously raced under the name "Neil Nuhr" will be crew chief. A second team will run part time at most of the Road Course races, plus the big races such as Daytona and Talledega, Driving duties will be split between Josele Perez and another driver TBA.

Aleksandr Mouta plans to stir Russian interest in United States stock cars as he plans to enter a team for 2012. Details are listed below.
Team Russia (Теам Руссиа) - Ford
#??: Aleksandr Mouta (Александр Моута) - ???
#??: ??? - ???
#??: ??? - ???
He is specifically looking for Russian drivers only although he may turn to other drivers if no Russians are willing to drive. Once again, this is pure rumor. Nothing is confirmed.

Retro80 Racing has confirmed the switch over to the Lycoia Interceptor chassis for 2012. Along with the chassis switch, Retro80 has applied for a 4th team car, but it remains to be seen if Sean Spicoli will be granted entrance because as it has been said of Spicoli, "That guy's been stoned since the 3rd grade."

DJ Motorsports to go full time in 2012
DJ Motorsports have made a very surprising announcement that they will be running full-time in the PCC Cup Series 2012. The team is on the entry list for the final race of the 2011 season at the Cleveland raceway, but due to the high amount of baxking from their sponsorship KFC and manufacturer they use, the Omecha MAO2, they will run the full 2012 season with exactly the same look car that their driver Damon Jones will use to attempt to qualify for the Cleveland race.
Additional Note: Damon Jones is not related to Louis Jones as Damon Jones lives in the United States whereas Louis Jones lives in Australia.

Durbin to run a part-time operation?
Reports are circulating that Ike Durbin, who has yet to make his PCC Cup debut, will open his own part-time PCC Cup Series team for 2012. Details have yet to be announced, but Durbin has confirmed this.
UPDATE: Ike Durbin announced that, if accepted, will likely run car #4, with SkullCandy backing, the same as his Cleveland one-off for Great Lakes Motorsports. Driver is un-named, but a few have been rumored, one being Japanese World Sports Car Champion Rikardou Akuzaru.
(Not much put into this announcement, short on time )

No, while it uses TM Canon and REAL LIFE Manufacturers, Cynon gave it a section anyway, probably due to the whole concept of Crash and Trash Racing
It's not canon, otherwise my namesake wouldn't have a ride in the 2012 season.

Maverick to Replace Bueller at Retro80 in 2012
Matthew Bueller is taking a break from racing to stop and smell the roses. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it," Bueller stated at the press conference.
Retro80 racing has signed former PSI driver Pete Maverick to wheel the #86 car. Maverick will be sponsored by Top Guns and Ammo. Bueller hasn't ruled out a return to racing in the future, but wanted some time off to enjoy life.
"Matthew did call in sick a lot," a Retro80 spokesman said.

I know we can do a lot better, so that is what we'll do. The #29 was great at Daytona, and I think it can be great again at the start of next season."

Basically post a silly season post with your intention to race in the series, and if BurningThunder likes it, he'll add you to the list, my recommendation though is to have:
How many driver you're going to have, he may limit them to one or two.
The numbers you want, don't take any already taken
The sponsors if you want any at all
The Make and model (Ex. Volpi VC03, Inglesby Flashback M-Type, etc...) or a RL version (Chevrolet Impala/Monte Carlo, Ford Taurus/Fusion, etc...)
Have in a good descriptive paragraph and if he likes your entries, you'll be 'in' for the time being. Though it's more or less a Tentative thing at best. Current teams in the series I believe get priority over new teams, but BurningThunder may say otherwise.

Ike Durbin, Inc. Confirms Intent on Entering Series; Other Details Announced
After the Cleveland Grand Prix, Ike Durbin held a press conference to announce some of the details regarding his 2012 PCC Cup Series schedule.
"I'd like to start out first by saying I'm very grateful to be driving for GLM in the PCC Cup Series in 2012. I can't wait."
"As far as my own team next year, Ike Durbin, Inc. will run a partial schedule in 2012. Although we had been discussing contract offers with Ryo Akuzaru, they fell through due to his other obligations. Instead, the driver will be Isaac Michaels in 2012, for the American races. He's an up-and-comer and he's been dominant in American Regional Series'."
"Ike Durbin, Inc. would like to run the Russian races as well, with Russian driver Nikolai Mahlyenki behind the wheel. He's a third generation Russian Touring Car Driver, and he has some experience at the tracks."
"As far as other details, we will be running number 4, with Skullcandy as the sponsor for all the races Michaels runs. As of now, we haven't sorted out anything as far as sponsorship for Nikolai, because we currently do not know if we'll be able to run the Russian races."
"Lastly, our cars will run Dodges in 2012. We're testing with different models right now, so we don't currently know what model we'll run. The Chargers look fast, but so do the Challengers and Intrepids."

Because he found a sponsor, Tommy Urban now has the money to run a part-time schedule this next season. The sponsor, Patron Tequila, jumped on a week or so ago. Urban wants to redeem his image as a driver and prove that he can race with the best. Therefore, the name of the team became Redemption Racing.
