McCollum announces Red Robin Invitational reduced to 50 laps to cut costs, give fans better racing

Randy Robinson dominated the inaugural Red Robin Invitational, the CRL's pole winners-only exhibition, lapping the field on his way to the $250,000 first-place prize last year.

Robinson had only 12 opponents in the event, making it the easiest race he's probably ever won. The race was 75 laps in length, which many people said was too long for such a small field.

So CRL President Josh McCollum has done something about it. With 13 drivers again eligible for next year's running (Robinson not among them, as he didn't win a pole this season), McCollum has decided, for the purpose of better racing, and to cut costs, that the race distance will be dropped to 50 laps for 2012.

The drivers will again draw to set the grid for the race, and eligible drivers who have moved up to bigger divisions can still run the race like they did last year, as this is not a points race.

Newly christened Teller Motors announces new sponsors for both the 67 and 77

Teller Motors announced earlier today that they would be getting new sponsors for next year. The #67 and #77 will be sponsored by Fourstar Clothing Company, and Lakai Limited Footwear respectively next season. That also means new schemes for next year. It is rumored that they may have Lenard stay on as an associate sponsor for both teams, although it is not confirmed as of yet.
Carl Loggins, and Jason Teller, Sr will still be in the #67 and #77 next season racing for Teller Motors, but rumor has it that Teller may relegate to a owner-only job after the 6th race of the 2012 season. It has not been confirmed and more details will follow as the story continues.

Blaze Enterprises backs off FMS partnership citing financial difficulties

In what is a rather strange development, sources close to Blaze Enterprises says that they do not have enough financial backing to compete with Fortner Motorsports resources and have asked to be released from the partnership contract.

With this, Fortner Motorsports will take over the entries of Erica Fortner and Devan LeCroix. Personnel will not be affected, other than the departing Blaze Enterprises team members.

"That's a bit of a shame. We were hoping to have this locked in, but I guess other cricumstances prevented them from partnering with us. We'll just go with what we have currently and go from there." says Fortner Motorsports management.

The lineup remains unchanged, however, there has been a slight modification to the sponsorship. Devan LeCroix will have Boost Energy onboard rather than Air France citing contractual burdens between him and the company. Erica Fortner's sponsorship remains unchanged as Town Pump is still set to go.

UPDATE: LeCroix wants to hold off running in CRL:

A statement by Devan LeCroix's agent was released on Saturday.

"He just isn't sure if he's ready. He's had some issues with some family and private matters. His decision was not definite, but temporal. He indicated that he just needs more time to finish attending to his personal business, which in turn, may not be done in time for him to run the CRL. So Devan has chosen to hold off runing the CRL until the personal matters are cleared first. He wants to assure everyone in the CRL that he will eventually come race the series, but perhaps at a later date."

LeCroix or Fortner CRL team officials could not be contacted for further information. It's been assumed that because of LeCroix's personal matters pressing on him, they will put LeCroix on stand-by and leave a slot open for him and use Erica Fortner's entry for the time being.

Tammerzan to CRL?
Andrew Tammerzan stated that he wants to run the CRL Modified Series in 2012. "If I can get a ride it will be fantastic. I think I can show my talents in a modified car and would love the chance to do so". I have to say that Kraig Mummert is one of the guys that I look up to, and he got his start here. If anybody is interested in me, I'll gladly do a behind the wheel audition"

(OOC)

I took a few requests for a handful of the Juneau's that were set to run next season. I had them mostly finished, but for some strange reason I don't seem to have them anymore. I'm not sure what happened or where they went but I wanted to give everyone notice that I didn't forget about these, they simply just need to be repainted. I'll have them in on time.
