New Peoples Guide to the TM Canon!
Hello, new members of EFR! Today, if you are willing to read this whole thing, I will basically guide you through the ways of the TM Canon and the do's and don't of the Canon! I will name no names in this, because there are a few people that are huge offenders of the don't listed.
Firstly, and this is a big first point, this is a semi-serious canon so therefore, while characters like Derek Dudding and AJ Young are accepted, series like "Formula Rainbow Poop" wouldn't be. While we do have a sense of humour, we know the line between humour and stupidity. Don't cross that line. Please.
Secondly, don't expect to make your way straight into the TMMC. Work your way up. Series like Dash Cup and ARLA Street Stocks are actually fairly easy to get into, so try them first, but again, don't make your character overly dumb. A character with the name "Hugh Jass" won't get in.
Thirdly, do not control other peoples characters. That ANNOYS THE HELL out of people. The only exception to this rule is a league owner saying a driver is injured or killed, or a driver getting fired from a team. Some people have their characters start dating other peoples characters, and that is fine, but do not control the character your character is dating. I've had someone do that to me quite a lot and I've been VERY angry about it.
Next, we have a lovely website on the site called TMPedia. We have series information on there which is updated regularly, such as team charts and stuff. Do. Not. Add. Your. Drivers. To. Them. Charts. You need permission, and people have done that before, and as a league owner, I can say that is quite the annoyance.
Carrying on, while some drivers in real life do race in more than one series, don't put one character in EVERY single series. There are some serious offenders to this rule, and while the league owners are at some fault for accepting them, honestly, when they realise there in ARLA Street Stocks then racing in Europe in Dash Cup, they find it annoying and that will probably lower your chances of getting a ride. This point also applies to teams. I see teams running ARLA Street Stocks and Dash Cup at the same time. Would that honestly happen in real life? It's not really hard to make a new team. Take into consideration when one off races come up too, would an American team really enter a race in Europe unless they were dedicated to the series?
If you don't get a ride in a series, please don't be like "OH MY GOD NO ONE ACCEPTS ME." You'll get accepted at some point. Don't worry. Just don't go all depressed when you don't get a ride.
Character development is a vital aspect of getting a ride. Well developed characters will, more than likely, get better rides. You can use TMPedia and the Twitter thread, mainly, to develop your characters. However, if you have him tweet like "DERP69: GOING TO RIDE A PONY OFF THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER HUAHEUAHEUHAUEHEU" then that's just dumb, and not really developing your character. On top of this, be realistic with your characters. Characters like this and this show good development and realistic traits which make them characters that league owners are likely to accept. However, an example of a character that wouldn't be accept would be DERP69 over there who rides ponies off the White Cliffs of Dover for a living. You probably catch my drift as to where I'm going with this...
Don't ask league owners when races will be up. They will hit you with a sledgehammer, then not answer you directly. No one likes indirect answers, or facial injuries from sledgehammers so yeah. Don't do that.
If you get on the right side of the admins and moderators here, you will more than likely get rides. However, this doesn't mean suck up to them at every chance you get. To get on the right side of the admins and moderators, just be a good member, don't cause trouble and you'll be heading in the right way.
This will be edited as I think of more things, but I felt like we needed this because of the rise in new members who don't seem to have a grasp on how things work around here.
Note to admins, feel free to add/remove things to make this better!

List of leagues and their owners
Please use this list wisely. As I mentioned, don't go begging for rides to these people, but this is for reference, as well as identifying which canons the leagues are a part of.
TMMC: Cynon

ASCC: Cynon, but it is a community project at the same time
FARC: Ceej
FARC Trucks: Ceej, but ??? runs this league
ARLA Regional Cup: Ceej, but Navycook75 runs this league
FARC Modified Series: Ceej, but ??? runs this league
Dash Cup: Me!

Ceej will be remaking this guide at some point in the near future

- Do not post ratings on the open forum, because someone could make theirs just as good as yours (if they don't suck )
- Don't PM league owners for rides. They find this annoying, and they are likely to say no. Just post in the series' Silly Season thread (by the way, they're pretty active right now) and hope for the best. However, you can ask for guidance with rides, asking if you're going in the right direction with your ideas etc

I was actually rereading this last night, thinking if you'd make a edit. coincidence?
Re: New Peoples Guide to the TM Canon!
I'll be editing it as "issues" that I notice pop up, but yeah that's pretty coincidentalLucstar88 wrote:I was actually rereading this last night, thinking if you'd make a edit. coincidence?

Updated under the "added stuff" section! This includes a list of leagues and their owners, and I even made a little key which identifies which league is in which canon!

Re: New Peoples Guide to the TM Canon!
bump.
The Dash Cup and FARC point is valid again. Seeing teams I'm not going to accept for Dash Cup because they're a new/unestablished team in FARC as well.

Re: New Peoples Guide to the TM Canon!
Even though this could count as a bump, I think it might be added that you can't add the same guy everywhere, I'm seeing people trying to join the NDT, FARC and APRS, all at the same time, and with the same character, which would be unrealistic, at least for me.

There are still a few series still doing silly seasons, if you find a series you want to join, put it in the silly season thread or normal thread if it's part of the minor league area, preferably in press release form. As long as you don't violate anything at the top of the thread, you should be fine if the runner likes the entry.
