- And just like that, Roman's the Champ to big applause. Only took them 11 months to figure out that when you book a bit angry badass like a big angry badass, people get behind him...
Still pretty crazy how the Philly crowd turned around on him, though. II still don't think he's The Guy, but he does have momentum. Let's see how it goes.

If that's the case, it might end up being Lesnar or Cena beating him, probably by luck so Roman can still look strong.

Speaking of the WWE, it sounds like they've picked up 4 of New Japans wrestlers including 2 of it's biggest stars.
AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are all rumored to be the WWE bound.

According to Big Dave, Nakamura and AJ were doing the Rumble, but Nakemura wants to go to NXT to learn the style. So maybe AJ maybe main roster straight away or do a small NXT program ala Kevin Owens.Alta wrote:Speaking of the WWE, it sounds like they've picked up 4 of New Japans wrestlers including 2 of it's biggest stars.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Rumble's almost here. Of course, this year the World title is on the line, and Roman will be entering at #1. Favorites at the moment based on the shows and betting are Roman (Overcoming more odds than Cena!), Lesnar, Wyatt, or a returning Triple H (Yes, Triple H as champion in 2016). A.J. Styles is also believed to be debuting in the match, if not on RAW.
If they still want to do Roman-Brock II I'd be totally fine with Lesnar winning. On the other hand, on the last RAW they seemed to be building Bray up for him... not feeling Roman or HHH winning.
Whatever the outcome, hopefully it'll be a fun match and make some sense. Who you got?

Daniel Bryan will announce his retirement on RAW is tonight.
Rumor is his latest medical tests before the Rumble brought back results that either convinced him to make his decision or made WWE double down on not clearing him.

He was cleared by three different neurologists, including one from UCLA, yet the WWE won't clear him. It's pretty obvious that the WWE is trying to blackball Daniel Bryan. It's clear that they don't want him back, because he would get in the way of them shoving Roman Reigns down everyone's throat. Bryan even tried to get out of his contract before the Royal Rumble, and they wouldn't even do that. Not to mention that the WWE is being sued by multiple wrestlers over their head doctor being incompetent, so from their standpoint, if they clear Bryan, they're basically saying that they were wrong about hiring the people on their medical staff.
That would not be very good for WWE's reputation. Interesting how that works.
Not to mention they regurgitate the same shit every week and they talk down to their fans like they're idiots. Why people continue to watch the WWE in spite of all of this is beyond me.

What are you talking about? Have you actually followed the news today?
He went to another doctor before the Rumble and took a new, more advanced concussion test. The indication is that when the results came back, either he decided he needed to protect his health or that the WWE doubled down on not clearing him for his safety.
But no, sure, everything's a McMahon conspiracy.

Regardless, I'm glad he chose his health over his career. It was sad enough to see him do a retirement speech, I don't think I would be able to sit though a memorial episode.
Sucks to see both of my favorite wrestlers from when I watched in 2012 no longer be wrestling (Punk and Bryan).
This probably means that Brie is going to win the Divas title at Fastlane.

No way she wins the title. Charlotte, Sasha and Becky is pretty much the money match for WM32

Yes, Brie Bella's feud with Charlotte is a filler feud, so Sash and Becky can be safe from injuries, but I wouldn't be surprised if Brie Bella wins the title at some point between this year and 2017.

As sad as Bryan retiring was, his influence is making WWE think better on who they sign and allowing them to bring their indie cred into the company...Case in Point Styles.

Hayabusa, a legendary Japanese wrestler known for high-flying death matches, has passed away due to a brain hemorrhaging. Most people know of them because of an horrific accident in 2001, where he slipped while attempting a springboard moonsault, and slipped, landing on his head, paralyzing him.

Also, Braun Strowman got attacked after Raw went off the air, during the same dark match Harper tore his ACL.
Aside from that: Wrestlemania will feature once again a 7-man ladder Intercontinental Championship match. Kevin Owens will defend it agains Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Sin Cara, Stardust and Zack Ryder.
Zack Ryder got inserted into the match in a 11th hour move, as Adrian Neville fractured his shinbone and ankle, and will only return by the summer.

- Wm card at the moment:

US title match - Ryback vs Kalisto
WHC title match - HHH vs Reigns
Divas title triple threat match - Charlotte vs Sasha vs Becky
Team Natalya vs Team Lana - 8 women tag team match
Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar - Street Fight
The Usos vs Dudley Boyz
We possibly will have New Day vs League of Nations
The battle royal will be aired on the preshow on USA Network.

I don't know who broke a mirror in the locker room, but all these injuries are getting a little ridiculous.
Of course, it doesn't help when the WWE works these guys up to five nights a week. That kind of grind just tears the body apart.

Then again, they've been doing this for YEARS, at least since they went national in the 80's. One of the big reasons (along with the mega huge paychecks Eric Bischoff convinced Ted Turner to cut) many of the guys (albeit older) in the mid 90's went to WCW. Make a decent amount of cash working 200-300 days out of the year, or make some big bucks, while working half the days. I think it's pretty obvious what most would choose. They just haven't had the injury issues that they have had lately though, so you gotta wonder if it's just a bad streak, or if the WWE had been incredibly lucky, because as far as I know, they have NEVER had this kind of a stretch where so many of their guys went down due to injury.

Also bear in mind in the past, wrestlers would do 3-4 house shows daily, the difference is, while the amount of shows decreased greatly, the style of wrestling changed as well, the 1970-80 wrestling featured way more house shows, but it was a way more slow paced wrestling. Them we started having the flips and shit, that is extremely injury prone.
Yet, some injuries were pretty much out of people's control. WWE is just having one of those Murphy's Law years, but they have survived getting their shit destroyed by WCW in the 1993-1998 period, they'll go through this with no problem.

That is true. Even during the attitude era, there were only some high flyers, while the majority stayed grounded for the most part. Today, even John Cena is doing leg drops off the ropes.

- Roman won and didn't turn heel to thunderous boos. Vince did it, the absolute madman!
Great wrestling for most of the matches, but with some nonsensical booking and finishes. Some people seem to think that all the heel wins and such would get them to cheer for Roman... so much for that.
NXT was much better, but that goes without saying.
Unless they can come up with a solution tomorrow, I just need to take a break from the main roster for a while... It's not worth the time investment right now when there's so much other great wrestling I haven't watched.
