The Wrestling Thread
This is the wrestling thread that we can discuss wrestlers, shows, rumors, etc.
Last night was the 26th annual WWE Summerslam. I didn't watch the whole show as I was participating in a GOMA race at the time the PPV was starting, but I was able to watch the final 3 matches on the card. CM Punk and Brock Lesnar went to war in a No Disqualification match, with Lesnar winning the match by F5ing Punk onto a steel chair. Then there was the mixed tag team match with Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn taking on Big E Langston and AJ Lee. I don't remember too much about this match (which seems to be the case of any match with divas since 2008), but Ziggler and Kaitlyn were victorious. The main event was between John Cena and Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship with Triple H as the special guest referee. The main event was in my opinion how a WWE Championship match should be handled, and was probably the best WWE Championship match since Punk and Cena at Money in the Bank in 2011. Daniel Bryan finally won the WWE Championship after almost kicking Cena's head to the moon. This wouldn't be the end of the show however. Randy Orton comes out and raises his MITB briefcase that he won a month ago at Money in the Bank. He appears to walk away, then turns around to look at Bryan, then Triple H suddenly nails Bryan with a pedigree! Orton quickly rushes into the ring, cashes in the contract, and wins the WWE Championship for the 7th time.
Summerslam definitely wants to make me tune in tomorrow evening for RAW to witness the fallout from the event (which I thought was great from what I saw). To anyone else who may have watched the PPV, what were your thoughts on the show and what do you think will come out of it?

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Roman Reigns gave Ziggler one of the best Spears I've seen in a long time. While Cena will be out for a long time, 4-6 months, to remove the baseball from his elbow. Bryan and Punk were on fire on their mic portions, I got my money's worth for Raw from their segments.
PWG's 2013 Battle of Los Angeles is in a week and a half, here's hoping Adam Cole drops the belt sooner than later..

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Tonight's Impact Wrestling comes a week after Bully Ray regained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at the free PPV Hardcore Justice against Chris Sabin with some assistance from MMA fighter Tito Ortiz.
Due to Kurt Angle going into real-life rehab, the 5 on 5 match between Aces and Eights and the Main Event Mafia was delayed to tonight. Who will be the 5th member selected by the MEM to replace Angle and who will be the person to be packing their bags and "leaving without a job?"

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Also tonight is a new episode of WWE NXT. NXT is all of the WWE Developmental wrestlers at their own promotion. What people are considering the match of the year is tonight, with Antonio Cesaro (Claudio Castangoli) facing off against Sami Zayn (El Generico) in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
Can't wait.

BTW Here's SCSA confirming that he wants a match against CM Punk at WM XXX
Re: The Wrestling Thread
So I found out today that I might be a distant cousin of one of the guys on the TNA roster. If it ends up being true, that certainly would be an interesting story to tell.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I like the main storyline on Raw involving, Daniel Bryan vs Orton & HHH
There's 2 famous wrestlers from N-B
1. Renee Dupree, Uncle to a classmate of my sister
But the main one is Kurrgan (Robert Maillet) he's from the same town as me (Ste-Marie-De-Kent), he worked with the same company as my mother (SystemAir) but when i was little i was Babysitted by his brother (and his wife), he went to my high school this year, to talk about his famous movie roles, and i spoke with him

Re: The Wrestling Thread
At tonight's PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerilla) event, night 2 of the Battle of Los Angeles (their big singles tournament to crown a new #1 Contender for the singles championship) William Regal, yes, has been scouting potential new talents for the WWE. Sure hope most of the talent at the event get a real good look, there is not a guy there that I would say shouldn't be in the WWE (except for Brian Cage, since he was already there, and left)
Rooting for BC boy Kyle O'Rilley, who has been on fire at PWG in the last few shows.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Daniel Bryan has been absolutely pummeled by WWE champion Randy Orton, the Shield, and the Big Show (though he was forced) since his loss at Summerslam, which leaves me wondering if he will have ANY momentum heading into Night of Champions in a couple weeks. The Corporation 2.0 is looking very strong at this time, and look like a force to be reckoned with (if they weren't already). In other news, Cody Rhodes was "fired" on Monday night as he is getting married and taking some time off.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Predicting this now: Once Sandow gets the title, Cody Rhodes comes back.
Also, the ending to the Battle of Los Angeles was insane. We got quite the faction in PWG now made up of the Singles and Tag Champs (Adam Cole, and The Young Bucks) and they are joined by a pissed off Kevin Steen. Kyle O'Rilley has a big uphill battle against him to defeat his former tag team parter in Cole to get the PWG World Title.

I haven't watched an episode of RAW in 4 months. Mainly because the WWE is total garbage right now.

I stopped watching in 2006 when they introduced a midget dressed as a leprechaun and tried to be serious about it. WWE has been garbage since, or more likely, longer :/PackerMan71 wrote:I haven't watched an episode of RAW in 4 months. Mainly because the WWE is total garbage right now.

Report from PWI from last night's ROH Final Battle
''They tried, but they just never seemed to get going in this one and the fans turned on it halfway through. Kingston doesn't look happy and mouths some very bad words at the crowd before telling Homicide to do what he's gotta do, and Homicide lays a ringside attendant out with the Cop Killa. He tells the fans not to clap for that (so of course they do), and he says they tried to play by all us suckas' rules, and now they're going to do things their way.
What follows is a scary scene that saw Homicide and Kingston go out into the crowd and get in the faces of the fans who were getting on their case. In a scene I thought I'd never see, the New York fans turned on Homicide and Kingston as they proceeded to challenge fans to fights and toss guardrails and garbage pails around in the crowd area. Security actually had to hold a couple of guys back as the crowd chanted "you still suck" at them. Not a pretty scene, and the crowd was unjustly rough on them in my opinion. The match wasn't good, but wasn't so bad to deserve that response.''

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Even if the crowd was too rough, damn near inciting a riot isn't smart, either. That would've been a terrible way to thrust ROH into the mainstream.Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:Report from PWI from last night's ROH Final Battle

Randy Orton is now the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion (imo should be WWE Heavyweight Champion, World isn't need, especially since World is in WWE).
Re: The Wrestling Thread
So Jeff Jarrett quit TNA today. I hear he was supposed to take over their writing staff. So much for that.
Personally I think he'll just go back to AAA in Mexico or start working more indy shows. (He's on the poster for USAPW in Nashville on Jan 11)
It's a shame they let him go, he could have been of value had they let him have some influence or start wrestling again.

Not only is Jarrett leaving, TNA are running a house show next month in Bristol, Tennessee. The venue? A MIDDLE SCHOOL GYM.
That's the type of shit promotions at MY level do, not one with a national television show.
I give them a year at the very most. That's if they're REEEEEEAL lucky.

More dirt sheet hilarity, according to ewrestlingnews, John Cena vs Bray Wyatt will main event WrestleMania 30.
While it COULD be done, 3 months is not enough time to push Bray to "Maina Main Event" status.
Personally, I think it would be rad as hell, but I don't see too much marketability in it.

I'm still firmly in the belief that Daniel Bryan will win the Royal Rimble, eliminating Roman Reigns to win it. With Bryan going to the main event at WrestleMania and beating Randy Orton clean as you'd like. While that should be what they are building up right now, it's questionable considering what the higher ups in the WWE think of THE MOST OVER PERSON IN THE COMPANY all things considered.
Wyatt vs Cena would be cool, but it isn't main event material, especially considering they just had what they called, "the most important match in WWE history" like five months prior to the biggest event of the year. It would be in the high card yes, as it could potentially help build Wyatt to a title run against Bryan, considering their current feud.
But hey what do i know? I'm just a fan.
