2014 FARC Silly Season Thread
Welcome to Silly Season, where the news is made up and the quotes don't matter!
Leaked testing photos surface
On an undisclosed day at an undisclosed track, four ARLA drivers and team owners took laps in what are believed to be the new cars that will be mandated in the 2014 FARC Elite Series season.
An unnamed observer was able to snap pictures of these cars, and have provided them to this journalist.
It has been rumored that the manufacturers intend to showcase their muscle cars in FARC, which is consistent with the cars that they provided for the test. Saar, Lenard, Inglesby, and Isanni participated in the test.
ARLA race director Jen Walker was informed of the leaked photos, to which she responded, "Oh, damn it".

Ryan Barrett will be racing like he planned to for 2014
Ryan Barrett, who attempted Pocono and failed to qualify, posted across the internet that he will be the greatest FARC driver ever alongside his friend Caden Beckett. Barrett, who is known for drinking copious amounts of Zing Energy and worshiping the four time Formula A World Champ Peter Short, wants to someday race in Formula A under the British Flag like his hero.

Report: MT Motorsports may not return to FARC in 2014
Rumors are circulating around Murfreesboro, Tennessee, MT Motorsports' home base, that the second-year ARLA Elite Series operation might not make it three in 2014.
These rumors are based on apparent frustrations that team owner Fred Caldwell has aired out to his friends.
In the last few races, MT Motorsports driver Jon Halks has been in numerous accident, almost none of which were his own doing. The team's bad luck halted at Montmagny, where Halks finished 7th in Race 2, only for the team to be dealt a huge blow by not qualifying for the endurance race at Pocono.
Halks was in contention for a win at Texas earlier in the year until his engine quit.
According to the rumors, Caldwell has told his friends how much he "dislikes the quality of ARLA driving", and that the series "doesn't seem too serious about having credibility in the racing world" by allowing some drivers to race without any real skill. Caldwell has always touted Halks's natural ability to drive a race car. The pair won three CRL Modified Division races together.
Phone calls to MT Motorsports have gone unanswered.
(OOC: Fred Caldwell's response will be in the Twitter thread.)

Wesley Family Racing Expected to Return to FARC
In spite of their trials and tribulations throughout the 2013 season, Wesley Family Racing is expected to return to the FARC Elite Series in 2014, according to reports. Richard Scott's contract expires at the end of the 2014 season and it is unknown what might happen then, but he is expected to return to the team this year. Aaron Singer has been unimpressive throughout the season and may or may not return to the team; if he is retained, the team hopes to move the #1 car to full time status, possibly in a dual championship bid. Funding may be a concern for the team however, with Caynon Machining unconfirmed to return to the team, and Singer possibly leaving and bringing his family sponsor with him.
WilsonTech's future in the Elite Series in doubt
After team owner James Spangler expressed his frustration with WilsonTech's miserable Elite Series campaign, it is uncertain if the team will continue its operation in the series in 2014. If the team does return, however, it is uncertain whether or not it will compete for the Tornado Alley Trophy or run full-time. Kelly Splison is rumored to possibly be released from the team; if this occurs, Jeff Wilkens is most likely to get the seat, although signing a free agent is not out of the question.

Accelerator Motorsports to be dedicated FARC division of Terra Int'l Motorsports, will it be up to snuff, or will it go down in flames?
Upon speculation of major tier teams may not be able to return in 2014, it seems that Accelerator Motorsports, a former ASCC team headed up by ASCC driver Calvin Hobbes, has been bought out by Terra Int'l Motorsports to become a dedicated FARC Division. This move would allow the former ARLA divisions to dedicate themselves to FARC. Both the Elite Series and Tornado Alley Trophy Series would be affected by this move. The team has also announced that they would be running the Lenard chassis. Numbers would hopefully remain the same, but one thing is for certain, Megan Driver would more than likely be vying for a full time ride along with ARLA Elite Series regular Jack Dempsey. It is unclear whether or not the team will keep their current sponsor package. A third car will be reserved as a pay driver seat, though it would only appearing at special events. The move would also allow Terra Int'l Motorsports to focus on their TM Lights and TMMC divisions respectively.
Current silly season/unconfirmed entries for 2014.
#40 - Megan Driver - Sponsor TBA Full Time (Part Time Okay)
#41 - Jack Dempsey - Sponsor TBA Full Time (Primary Driver)
#96 - PAY DRIVER - Sponsor TBA (One offs and special events only)

George Martin Motorsports Looking to Expand Its Role in FARC
George Martin Motorsports, the part-time team fielding the #33 Lenard for TM Lights driver Joe Olenick, is looking at the 2014 season as an opportunity for expansion.
The team will be looking to go full-time in 2014, with the #33 Lenard being run as part of a split championship bid. The team is also hoping to field an entry for the Tornado Alley trophy during the 2014 season.
While the driver lineup remains uncertain, it has been heavily implied that Joe Olenick would be retained as part of the split championship. Team members have requested that applications for the open seats be withheld until the team confirms its participation in the series for 2014.
Team owner George Martin held a brief interview on motorsports radio, where he said that "with all of the changes yet to come and with everything we've learned so far, I feel it's as good a time as any to go all out."
Olenick himself was quoted as saying "I think everything George and the team have done is great, and it'll be a great challenge next season."

Atomic Autosport seeking 2014 full time spot
After failing to qualify for the Stars And Stripes 776, Alex Areoski, and his team, Atomic Autosport, have announced that they are seeking to go full time in 2014. when asked about this, Areoski said "this way we don't have to qualify". the car will almost certainly be number 451. Manufacturer is slated to be Lenard. Fahrenheit Energy Drink is a rumored sponsor.

Nitro Racing looking to go full-time for 2014
Nitro Racing, the part-time team that fields the #97 for Hazel May Frattin, is looking to try to go full-time after going part-time for the past couple of seasons. The team would be looking to field Frattin's car full-time along with a possible Tornado Alley Trophy car if approved. Whiplash Energy and Frattin Car Dealerships appear to be returning for next season.
(Part time is ok, if it comes to it)

Hotshot Racing may form a 2nd full-time car for 2013
Hotshot Racing have opened their plans to put 2 more cars into their team for next season, one full-time and the other part-time. There main driver Kelly Posadas will almost certainly run full-tme in 2013, and in the meantime team owner Kenneth Drake has also stated that if a 2nd car is formed, he may pick a decent driver who may not find any other positive teams to drive for to put in that car, for their part-time car plans are currently unknown at the moment.

Luc Pellerin to join FARC?
Luc Pellerin, who made a start in 2013, where he had a extremely good debut, is listening to offers to join FARC full-time in 2014.
He is a part-time ATATS racer.
Rumor has it that Pellerin will run more races in 2013 with Ike Durbin Inc, but no contract is finalized. If so it will be a 2013-only deal. He is a free agent for 2014.
Lucstar Motorsports to expand in FARC?
The Canadian team, which has experience in TMMC is looking to run a full-time team in 2014, and a second if sponsorship is found.
The team will not field Luc Pellerin, son of owner Angel Gray, due to Luc wanting to not be a obstacle in the team's future

HQS Racing looking for an entry in 2014?
Ben Atkins' team, HQS Racing is looking at the possibility of having two have two full time cars run in the 2014 FARC season, one driven by Atkins himself and the other driven by a currently unconfirmed driver. Atkins is currently competing in the TM Master Cup, and unless he finds another ride in the TMMC, or stays with Scuderia Tutino, he has made is clear that a return to FARC is what he wants.
"I've seen the series improve vastly. The racing seems to have gotten better, and it seems like doing another season of FARC would be fun" said Atkins; "also, running for my own team would be a challenge that I want to take on, but if I get the opportunity to stay in the TMMC, I think I'd take that up first."
Rumors are is that if Ashley Tucker is not retained by Bjorn Green Racing that Atkins would be interested in giving her a ride for the 2014 season, but Tucker has said that she would like to stay with Bjorn Green's team for 2014.

Ike Durbin, Inc. Intends to Return to FARC in 2014
Since joining the ARLA Elite Series, soon to be re-branded to the FARC Elite Series, Ike Durbin, Inc. has enjoyed little success. Despite this, however, all indications are that the team will remain in the league in 2014. The team currently fields one full-time and one part-time car, but rumors have it that they are looking to bring their part-time machine, which has had a rotation of drivers in it, up to full-time status as well. The driver line-up is completely up in the air, as Ryan Griffin, the only contracted driver, was only signed to a one-year deal.
The Racing Team Wants to Run the FULL 2014 FARC SCHEDULE
Reportedly The Racing Team, known for being one of the only teams to run an L3 engine, is saving up to buy customer FARC cars so that they can run the full schedule. No sponsorship has been announced and it's a wonder that they've even been able to run they races they have this year, considering they only have two complete cars and have been involved in multiple wrecks this season. This should end well.

Clason Enterprises looking to return in 2014, sponsorship a main issue for the team
Clason Enterprises and Owner-Driver Tanner Clason have announced interest in returning for 2014, but are currently in a rough financial state, and are uncertain of being able to afford the new cars. "Yeah, it's definitely gonna be a tough time getting the funds for the new cars. Might have to sell a few things, rob a bank or two, possibly have to work corners if it comes down to that. Possibly even hire pay drivers. Regardless, I still think we can swing running full-time in 2014 if we can get the funding." Clason shrugged, Clason Enterprises has found success, but not quite enough to fund him as of yet.

Bobby Dollar Racing to expand, secure new sponsor?
Bobby Dollar has revealed his provisional plans for 2014, he is hoping to expand to two cars, with at least one of them going full time. The team has run a partial schedule this year with Canadian driver Barry Macintyre, which included a unexpected win at Daytona.
The TM Lights driver, who was formerly a 4 time GT Champoin, is impressed and plans to retain Macintyre despite rumours that he wanted to drive in FARC himself. He has reportedly said that he is also open to pay driver offers for the team's planned second car.
The team have also announced they are 90% sure of securing a new major sponsor for the 2014 Season. When asked on the identity of this sponsor Dollar only said "it's electrifiying".

PSI to Remain Intact in 2014
PSI owner William Power stated today that his ARLA squad will stay together for the 3rd straight season. "Why break up a winning combination? Of course, everything is subject to change, but we plan to bring everyone back to ARL...er FARC. I don't think I'll ever get used to calling it that," Power chuckled.
"Because of our relationship with Lycoia, we'll be running those snazzy Lenard's," Power continued. 'Unless something drastic happens, Bigsby Foote will remain in the #14 car as will Rip Tyler in the #16 and Libby Bell in the #24. Reid Bullet will run the #11 car for special events and may fill in from time to time should he be pressed into service due to injuries or other circumstances. Unless FARC allows PSI or it's re-branded subsidiary to expand to 4 cars, that is."

Big Mac Racing Wishes to Return Full Force
After a year of sponsorship on low, Big Mac Racing has secured proper sponsorship to run the full FARC season in 2014. The team will likely run Makoto Yamada in the familiar number 22 due to positive results this year, unless Yamada finds a higher up ride somewhere else. Yamada and Big Mac Racing have two podiums on the year. If extra sponsorship is found, the team would like to run a second car part time. The team has not ruled out a pay driver for that possible part-time car. BMR have not confirmed this, but the team may run Lenard next year.
{FT} 22: Makoto Yamada (Japan) Kohta Electric [Japanese company]
{PT} ?: TBD (TBD) TBD

Last Row Autosport may return in 2014
After a year off team owner Mike Howard was reported as saying the team is interested in returning with at least 1 car running full time. Nick Howard will probably drive one of the entry's if he doesn't return to the duckroll development team.

After whisperings that Eichholtz Atlantic Racing will separate into their two former entities, Eichholtz Autosport and Atlantic Motorsports for 2014, plans for the team in ARLA are up in the air. Driver Ramsey Coquinner: "I don't know what's my plan on the driving side for next year. I have full sponsorship for my racing exploits. If Eichholtz wants to bring me back, they will. If not, I'll look somewhere else."

Webster "Exploring Options"
In what has been a successful season so far with Jared Warth and SuperCharged MAX Racing, Webster said today that he would like to "explore his options" for 2014.
"We just want to get my name out there to other teams, and see if we can get any feedback from any of them. We've had a lot of fun this season, and I'm so happy to have been given this opportunity to run for Jared Warth, even though it's not the full schedule. We've taken this start-up team and just ran with it this season."
In 6 starts this season, Webster has recorded 4 top 10s and 1 top 5. The highlight of Webster's season so far was his runner-up finish to Zachary Zins at Texas.
Webster has said if all else fails, he will pick up the owner role at SuperCharged Max Racing.
Webster hopes to find a full-time ride somewhere or while taking the ownership role of SuperCharged Max Racing, but he will accept whatever is given to him.

Focus Autosports Looking to Field Part-Time Elite Series Entry
Focus Autosports, a new-to-2013 ARLA Tornado Alley Truck Series team, is attempting to organize a part-time effort for Vincenzo Fochesato in the newly-rebranded FARC Elite Series powered by Smash Beer for the 2014 season.
Said the team owner, Giuseppe Fochesato, "We could probably go full-time, but not without sacrificing our truck efforts, and Vincenzo wants at least another year in that series. I still think it'd be best for us to get some experience with this new car, though."
Giuseppe also stated that, until further notice, the entry will be an unsponsored #37v Lenard. The team will attempt to acquire primary sponsorship before the beginning of the season.
When asked about the possibility of returning to Elite Series competition, Vincenzo Fochesato responded, "What the heck is VARC?"

Holden Roberts Looking to Return
Holden Roberts made his debut in 2012 to a less than stellar run but now is looking to return to the series for the new 2014 season. The new car is the main reason. "I am looking to return to the series full or part time next year. I can assure I've learned from my mistakes and hope to run a lot smoother. I am looking for offers, nothing is nailed down yet but looking good. These new cars are definitely a game changer."

JINX Racing on 2014
"This is the first announcement I've made in a while, so, I guess it's a good one. Even though funding has been mainly In-house, we do have a few sponsors lined up for next year. JINX Racing is seriously interested in going into 2014 with two cars. I'm hoping to get at least a full time car and a part time car approved for entry into the series. Motors will be supplied in-house as I'm finally confident our engineers can handle it due to our motors doing well in the Truck Series. Not sure who the driver(s) will be but I should be eligible for RoY which means I'm a possibility. More news to follow should anything change. Sabre Investment Group is getting pretty big and I'm glad I'm part of it. SIG may be part of the reason for our motors succeeding in the Trucks." -Jinx Rodriguez

Accelerator Motorsports offers potential ride to Zack Webster.
Jack Dempsey could be heading up to the TM Lights if things go through with Accelerator Motorsports approaching Zack Webster for a full time ride. Dempsey, who may replace current TM Lights driver Jinx Rodriguez, is currently up to continue to be the primary driver for the team in FARC. With his ability to do well in top-tier equipment, Dempsey was brought into the Terra Int'l Motorsports headquarters to discuss the details. It is not known if Webster or ARLA/FARC officials will accept the transfer. The team will however keep Megan Driver and the pay driver slot open, or move it to a reserve driver spot. If Webster agrees, the number would be either 23 or 41.
"We feel that Mr. Rodriguez may be stretching himself too thin and could dedicate himself here in FARC to brush up on his skills, while we're proud to have him within our organization for TM Lights, his results have not shown the talent that we believe that he has. Our equipment isn't the issue."
Megan will probably remain part time or go full time, if she remains part time, she'll most likely head back to the ARLA TATS, where she is high and points and has several good finishes.

Changes in Works For PSI In 2014?
"Debacle Of Epic Proportions" Impetus?
William Power realizes that he's getting a little older and that he may have make some changes if he wants to remain on top in the sport he loves.
"I'm deciding to divide up my racing teams and give my grandson Sergio control over the FARC squad," stated Power. "I feel like I've spread myself pretty thin as of late and it may have contributed to the "debacle of epic proportions" we struggled with at the Stars & Stripes 776 Pocono race," Power lamented. "I feel like we went from championship contenders to laughing stock overnight."
Power feels that some oversights occurred at Pocono that could be prevented with a creative division of labor.
"I'm here to announce that my grandson and I have formed Sergio Power Incorporated or SPI (pronounced "spy" for short)," Power stated. "He will completely take over the FARC operations but I will remain as a consultant when needed."
"Our association with Lycoia has been wonderful so we're sticking with the Lenard R37 chassis in 2014," chimed in Sergio Power. "That's my first executive decision. Pocono notwithstanding, Lycoia has given us stability and a competitive edge. I'm looking forward to working with them next season and for many years to come. But I'm also going to put my own stamp on this team as well," Sergio responded.
As of this writing, the PSI lineup will look like this:
#11 -- Reid Bullet -- Loan Ranger
#14 -- Bigsby Foote -- SasqWatch
#16 -- Rip Tyler-- Leapin' Lizard
#24 -- Libby Bell-- LiberTea

Spannerhead Racing confident of getting full-time run
SR owner Phil Nelson was asked by a reporter after the Marlisie 200 on the team's 2014 plans.
"We'll defiantly be racing next year, just weather or not it will full time, we don't know, but after a few good runs this year, I'm fairly confident on getting a full time spot for the team, and maybe even I may get into a car for a part-time campaign.
Phil Nelson is selling his Dash Cup at the end of that season, so funds for the time being won't be an issue at all.

Matthews to return for 2014, will change car number:
Ryan Matthews doesn't have to worry about his plans for 2014.
"I'm staying put," he said after qualifying for the Stars & Stripes 776 at Pocono Raceway. "From what I've been told we're on the 2014 grid, and I've got no reason to go anywhere else. So I think that answers that. Plus we've got sponsorship lined up for next season, so we're in good shape."
He also said he would petition to change the current car number from 116 to 61.
"I'm pretty sure we're going to switch it," he said. "I'd like to switch it to keep consistency with the Master Cup and Lights teams. I don't think it's going to be a big problem."

Re: 2014 FARC Silly Season Thread
GRI LOOKING TO EXPAND BACK TO THREE TEAMS, ALL RIDES CURRENTLY UP IN THE AIR, POSSIBLE TEAM NAME CHANGE?
About halfway into what has been a pretty successful season for Gravity Racing, Inc so far, sans Pocono, a lot of changes could be coming to the team at the end of the 2013 season.
With their Formula Overdrive and Dash Cup teams becoming their own separate entities, this would free up space for GRI to revive a third full-time team in 2014. Whether this will come to pass will be determined upon authorization from FARC, and whether they have the sponsorship to support the team. Rumors are that Isaac Lightener, who is driving for GRI in the FARCE Modified Series this season, would be in line for the third car if it does come to pass.
In the meantime, the other two teams, the #7 and #71, are up in the air right now. Eric Jackson's contract is up at the end of the season, and Zach Gott may spend another season in the Truck division before he moves up for a possible true full-time effort in 2015. As far as the 71 goes, with Rachel Rainsford contending for the ARLA championship, it is entirely possible that she may be offered a ride in the TM Master Cup Series for 2014. If that is the case, and with Packer Carroll having what he considers his worst season of his career, if Packer is not resigned by Volpi, Packer is considering returning to the Elite Series to drive his trademark 71 car for the 2014 season. At this time, nothing has been confirmed.
Another rumor floating around is that Packer is considering changing his team's name from Gravity Racing, Inc. to Hailstorm Autosport for 2014, after the engine package they've been developing for the past several years. Again, this has not been confirmed.

FARCE Modified driver Wade Warren has become the second driver signed to the #1 car, in spite of his criticism this season. The team has not specified which races Warren and Aaron Singer will be running at this time.NeverNeutral wrote:Wesley Family Racing Expected to Return to FARC
Caynon Machining will not be returning to sponsor Richard Scott, but the team has secured additional funding.

Griffin wants to remain in FARC in 2014; Will seek other options if not resigned by IDI
So far, the 2013 ARLA Elite Series Season hasn't gone quite the way Ryan Griffin has wanted it to. He has had a couple of good runs though. However, Ike Durbin Inc. has stated that their driver lineup for the 2014 FARC season is not concrete as Griffin had only the 1-year contact with the team.
"I would love to stay in FARC in 2014. This series has great fans and the races get better and better every year. I'm hoping to remain with IDI, but I'm not sure if that will be possible," Griffin stated in a recent radio interview.
"I'm keeping myself open to any offers. If something comes up, I may have to consider it."

Luc Pellerin will not return to FARC next season.

The youngster has signed a deal with a Forumla Overdrive team for 2014. Pellerin, will maybe return in FARC, as a one-off or a part-time entry, or may not run at all.

Forever Green Motorsports announces manufacturer
Lora Ocean: "We are proud to announce that we will be running the new Inglesby car for the 2014 FARC season. We believe they are a great fit like a small team such as ours, so now we know what car we are running, my brother and I driving and our sponsors, now all we need is 2014 to come."

Indoor Haas Manufacturing Race?
With the recent success of the ARLA races in the Riverside Karl's Superstore, another major business is investigating the possibility of running an 'indoor' race in the future. With ARLA merging with FARC in 2014, Haas Manufacturing has reportedly approached FARC about a race in or near one of their factories.
The company reportedly informed FARC that they could prepare a track before 2013 is out, possibly even staging an exhibition event to test the new FARC cars in race trim.
Haas Manufacturing is mostly known for sponsoring two-time TM Master Cup series champion Adrien Devereux.

Jamarius Knight III is looking for a ride
Jamarius Knight III, loosely related to Nike CEO Phil Knight, would like to find a team to sign with for 2014 and possibly beyond. Jamarius is known around the local short tracks as a driver who is fast, and consistent, but far too aggressive for his own good. Jamarius brings the lucrative Nike sponsorship with him, and Nike is willing to sponsor both Jamarius and a teammate, as long as the teammate has marketability. As well, Jamarius is a college graduate from the University of Oregon, graduating a year early with a degree in Sports Marketing & was a 2 year starter for the Ducks at RB, leading them to a Pac-12 championship and a Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin.

Kelly Splison to 96 car?
Splison, who is going to be let go from her ride at the end of the season, was invited back by Terra Int'l Motorsports to drive their third car either part time or during over capacity events. The team is currently handling the paperwork that officials have asked for the possible addition. Splison was ecstatic, to say the least, to be getting a possible ride in 2014.

TDR Plans on Returning for FARC in 2014
Tom Delgado Racing announced that they are looking into returning for 2014 in the FARC Elite Series (formerly ARLA). They will not have the backing of longtime manufacturer Nemoto, as they are not among the manufacturers for the new car. It is unclear at this time who TDR would jump aboard with. Lenard is a possibility, as TDR owner Tom Delgado is campaigning in ASCC this season with Ocean Motorsports, a Lenard team.
As for the driver, or drivers of the TDR entries, officials within Tom Delgado Racing have suggested that they would like to retain both Jim Hayes & Joseph Howard, who have been in championship contention all season despite poor form in the middle of the season. However, as was their policy last offseason, TDR will not stand in their drivers' way if a Master Cup opportunity comes knocking.
