2014 Silly Season Thread
Got rumors? Post them here!
Less road courses next season?
After the large amount of road courses taking up the schedule in 2012, there have been grumblings that the series will split the schedule down to something a bit more equal for all tracks. A provisional schedule that was released yesterday shows 6 road courses, 5 short tracks, 5 intermediate ovals, and 5 superspeedways, perhaps balancing the schedule more in the favor for teams without strong road course programs.

DJ Motorsports to form a 2nd car for 2013?
Rumours have spread throughout the garage of the DJ Motorsports team that they are coming close to forming a 2nd full-time car for the 2013 PCC Cup Series Season. Their owner and current driver Damon Jones says he may still run full-time next season despite the amount of races he has failed to qualify for this season, including the European races so far as well. "I still believe this team has a potential to run very well even at tracks where the car isn't 100%, said Jones, "The amount of times I've been failing to qualify for races so far hasn't put me off my driving, so I still believe I have a potential to do a good job behind the wheel and as a Car and Team Owner as well."

Brinson Wants Back In
ARLA team owner and former PCC Cup driver Matthew Brinson has expressed interest in returning to racing full time for 2013 in PCC.
"I've been so busy the past few years but I really want to get back into it" Brinson says. "Two seasons ago, I ran for The Motorsports team and even though I was given pure trash to drive in, I still had a ton of fun. It's so humorous as to why I took the ride in the first place but I legitimately enjoyed every minute of that miserable experience. Back then, I was focused more on the tuning company (Brinson Engineering) and touring cars. Thus, I decided it wouldn't hurt to try oval racing again, especially as it was what I grew up doing back when my father ran his late model team. It really rekindled a spark and I'm actually contemplating perhaps running a limited or full-time schedule if time permits."

GLM looks to resign Durbin to the #50; Seeking driver to run full '13 season in #44; GLM wants to remain with Dodge
Great Lakes Motorsports owner, Jim More, stated that he is looking to resign Ike Durbin to the #50 car for next season. More said he has been impressed with Durbin recent runs and would like to see that continued.
As for the other GLM entry, the #44 Mopar Dodge, More has stated that the team is looking for a driver to fill the slot for 2013. Ryan Griffin, who ran the car in 3 races already this season, is scheduled to finish out the season in the car. But, Griffin has stated that he will not running in a GLM car next season (more on this in a moment). Thus More is looking at his options. He has stated that he would like to find someone with PCC Cup experience that can not only get the car in the field but do well in the main event as well.
GLM also has confirmed that they would like to remain with Dodge for 2013 as well.
Griffin to run his own part-time PCC in 2013?
With GLM looking for a full-time driver for the #44 in 2013, driver, Ryan Griffin, has expressed interest in running his own part-time entry next season. This would make him an owner-driver in the series. Griffin has yet to confirm this but it is expected that he will confirm this later on this year.

Lazareva Targets 2013 PCC Cup Rookie of the Year Honors
Despite failing to qualify for the Round of Moscow, Russia-based driver Alina Lazareva plans on running full time in 2013 if a team will have her. In an interview with a Russian media outlet, Lazareva wants to show that Russian drivers can succeed on oval tracks.
"Us European-based drivers are stereotyped as good at road courses, but not good at everything else. That is something I would like to change" Lazareva said.

Brian Gallagher's contract is up at the end of the season. And it is unsure weather Gallagher has done well enough to retain his ride. No one was available from either party to talk to us...

Lester to form own team or drive for someone else?
Casey Lester's 2013 ride in the PCC Cup Series has still been in much doubt, even when he inked a deal with Great Lakes Motorsports for the 2012-2013 season. Now released fromhiscontract after8 races where he did not qualify, Lester is hoping to return either with another team or starting his own team with Timber Wolf tobacco sponsoring him. More to come later.

Occupy the PCC Cup Series to enter a team
An organization called "Occupy the PCC Cup Series" has announced that they will enter a full time car next year. The listed owner is not a specific person but "the 99 percent". It has also been confirmed that the car will be numbered as 99%. A strong rumor is that former Oakland-based racer and auto tuner turned anti capitolism activist Ricky Baxx will be the driver. "Ricky's got some whacked Anarchist views and he's kinda crazy in the group microphones but he's a pretty good driver and he'll be a good fit for the new team, man!" A man believed to be a leader of the organization identifing himself as "Syko" (not a mistake) said that the teams car will be a "giant sounding board ya know...for puttin peoples ideas out there. We're gonna use this car to fight back against the powers that be of the Republicans and Lockheed Martin and Rick Santorum and Stephans Racing. We gotta get the word out. So we ain't doing any of this corporate sponsor crap." Despite that last statement, it is believed that George Soro' SuperPac, Michael Moore's production company, and the progressive talk show The Young Turks are in the running.
OCC: This wasn't meant to offend anyone who supports Occupy Wall Street. Anybody who knows me in real life knows that when I make fun of people it's not in a mean spirited way.

Phoenix Performance buy out Terra Int'l Motorsports PCC Cup operations?
Phoenix Performance hinted online that it would be the primary sponsor for both Terra Int'l Motorsports cars in the 2013 season. The base scheme, which went viral on the internet, was highly rated by several fan sites.
It will be most likely confirmed later in the year.

Last Row Autosports to take it seriously for once
Last Row Autosports will actually try to compete and make races, instead of getting lost on the way to the track and going to the nearest bar to drink instead of entering races. Drivers to be announced later.

New Canadian Team Joining PCC Fray?
Reports are that a new team is considering making a step up to the PCC Cup Series. The team in question is the relatively young Ontario Speed Corporation (OSC). Founded in 2008 by Kent Bradley of Toronto, the team has been competing all around Canada and the northern United States in several medium and highly popular stock car late model tours. Bradley has stated several times that he is wanting to move up the ranks of stock car racing, and he believes the PCC Cup Series is the place to be at the moment.
OSC has already lined up a young, financially backed driver from the Astle, New Brunswick area in Andre Brantley. Brantley, 22, has some experience in late models, but he is most well-known as an accomplished snowmobile racer, with 2 Canadian championships to his name along with numerous other victories and awards in the Canadian snowmaching ranks.
Brantley will supposedly bring NAPA Auto Parts, EMCO Gears, SMP Bluestreak, and several other Canadian entities to the team.
More information is likely to be revealed within the next couple of weeks regarding car number and manufacturer.

Ike Durbin, Inc. Looking at Full Time Grid, Investors?
Ike Durbin, Inc., a current part time team with rookie driver Isaac Michaels, is looking at going full time in 2013. The team, that made its debut with team owner Durbin in the Cleveland GP last year, is reportedly looking at resigning Michaels for 2013 based on his good runs he has had in his few starts. In both the Carbondale and Mansfield races, Michaels led laps before ultimately being taken out by other drivers' messes.
Thee are also rumors that the team is being looked at by investors who are interested in funding the team. There is no word on the truth to these rumors, but it is suspected that Dyavol Energy, a Russian energy drink company which is sponsoring Nikolai Mahlyenki, is one of the said groups looking at investing in the team. Ike Durbin claimed he would like to keep number 4 and likely stay with Dodge for 2013, while no comment was made regarding sponsorship.

Phoenix Performance Racing (Former Terra International Racing) to request for the numbers of 41 and 96 for the upcoming season?
It seems that the team wants to use the numbers of 41 and 96 in the upcoming 2013-2014 PCC Cup season, there has been no word on whether or not the two numbers, would be opened up for the team.
The numbers, which are currently owned or being used by two different teams, were Woodard's and Foray's numbers respectively before they joined the PCC cup.
"Look, we're fine with using our current numbers, but we would really love to use our old numbers from our old rides in the LTCS" Foray told reporters, Woodard was unavailable, as he was shooting zombies in a firing range at the time. "If the teams could let go of those numbers and let us use them, we here would be rather happy."

Lester still unconfirmed for 2013, but has new sponsor
In addition to Timber Wolf tobacco sponsorship that driver Casey Lester has obtained, he now has signed with Koma Unwind as a secondary for whatever team he may drive for in the 2013 PCC Cup Series season. If he were unable to sign with any team, he has claimed that he would start his own team and "try to bring Dodge back to PCC Cup".

Joe Craig Wishes to Return
Joe Craig has released a statement that he intends to return to the PCC Cup next year. Craig started the season off by almost winning a race, but has since fallen out of the top 30 in points and is consistently missing races at road courses. Craig currently runs the #29 for Raptor Racing. Craig says, "I want to stay in this series. I would return to Raptor if I could, but if not I just want to be in this series full time still."

New team?
The Warfington Insane Asylum have announced their interest in fielding a PCC Cup team with Rev Sawtooth (he repeatedly insists that is his real name for some reason) as driver. Geely has been rumored as a manufacturer. The car will carry number 000, with sponsorship from Psyco's Straitjackets.
(OOC: Yes, the company fielding the team is an actual insane asylum, and the driver is legitimately insane, but a suprisingly competent driver, along the lines of Marcos Leonard. (who would be a perfect fit for the PCC cup, IMO) Geely is a real world manufacturer for those wondering, with their best known model being the Beauty Leopard. No, I am not making that up.)

Wayne Newman to PCC Cup Series, Applying to Retro80?
—NEW YORK, NY
New York City native Wayne Newman, who has experiance in local racing announced his intentions to compete in the PCC Cup Series.
"I think it's time for me to move up. I got some funding that was headed to my counterparté in my building named Jerry and took it into my own hands to provide myself for some funding..." with that the chubby Newman gave out a laugh. Our interviewer asked Newman, who will be sponsored by the United States Postal Service and Tom's Restrauent as well as Kramer & Newman Rickshaw and Blitzkreig Soup Kitchen, whether he thought the funding was 'junk mail', but at this point a suddenly furious Newman exited the room. We contacted the aforementioned apartment neighbor and told him what Wayne said. At this point he said "Newman!" under his breath and hung up the phone. It has been reported that Newman will try to join the Retro80 Racing team. He has said he wishes to drive the #89 car.

Ben Atkins to attempt full time schedule in 2013?
After a piss easy 2012 BSC campaign where he only wrecked 16 other cars on average... per race, Ben Atkins thinks he will get a better experience in the PCC Cup as a "racer" as he wants to make a full time transition to stock cars.
"There were some stunning moments in the PCC Cup this year like the GWC at Talladega and Robert Nelson's big crash at Road America and I thought to myself 'I'd love to be in that'. It seems like the people in BSC aren't trying to win the championship anymore... something about me wrecking their shit so much they run out of money or something, and I want to have a harder time."
Atkins won the championship by a persuading 200489 points in the BSC after his competitors ran out of money due to too much broken equipment. By the last race of the season, Atkins and a competitor, Pason Jlato were the only two cars on the grid, and Atkins sent Jlato careening into a lake, where Jlato drowned to death. Atkins said his conscience really stood out at that moment.
"Y'know, I thought to myself where I heard Pason was dead 'WHY CAN I DO THIS SHIT MORE' and PCC a death trap from what I see, so why not?"
Atkins would return in his own #5 Guinness STS, with dolan duk as his spotter, if this rumour was to be true.

Wayne Newman Update:
New York native Wayne Newman has busied himself recruiting sponsors. I an interview with a sports show about his PCC Cup Series attempt, Newman went over his new sponsors.
"My first sponsor deals with people I admire deeply," the plump rookie began. "The men and women in uniform astonish me. They do their duty in the rain, heat, snow anything really. These are incredible individuals. That's why I'm proud to announce that the United States Postal Service will be on my hood for next season."
"I would also like to welcome to my team Tom's Restaurant, Kramer & Newman Rickshaws, Blitzkrieg Soup Kitchen, and the Law Offices of Jackie Chiles to the operation. You can get soup from Blitzkrieg, food from Tom's, spill it using a Kramer & Newman Rickshaw and sue everybody with Jackie Chiles. Remember, Jackie Chiles gets you the justice you deserve."

Some More Details on TDR's 2013 Campaign
One of the more beloved liveries on the 2012 PCC Cup grid will be returning for 2013.
The MiniDrivers & MiniBikers are confirmed to be back with Tom Delgado Racing. This time, they will be the primary scheme for A.J. Murphy's #37. "We got a huge reaction to our MiniDrivers schemes during last season and this season, so we're glad to be able to bring them back for 2013. Of course, like the Minis, our scheme will have a new look. We look forward to unveiling this look in the immediate future" A TDR representative announced.
As for Tom Delgado's rookie campaign in 2013, a change in majority scheme has been announced. The team has acquired sponsorship from Rovio and will carry the ever-popular Angry Birds. Their previously announced Manchester United scheme will still be part of their plans, but it has been relegated to the overseas events.
The team also announced a number for their part-time entry, which will most likely enter the Super Speedway events on the schedule. It will be numbered 10, but it will not carry a sponsor.
TDR Team Chart
#36 - Tom Delgado (R) - Angry Birds
#37 - A.J. Murphy - Los MiniDrivers
#10 - ??? (PT) - Unsponsored

Camyron Jackson Racing, Alex Alenko returning to PCC Competition
After a partial season deemed "pitiful" by the driver and resulting in exiting, CJR announces its return with driver Alex Alenko. "Not being able to qualify for any race meanwhile elsewhere, watching your teammates actually qualify and compete in the race just ate at me last season" said Alenko, who left the series at his own will . "Since then, I've set out to better myself in everything from tuning the car, qualifying and providing better feedback. I want to be in the race and actually in it for the win".

Abstinence Only Sex Ed Company Launching Major Sponsorship
Operation Keepsake, an abstinence only sexual education program announced what they called a "multi faceted program to deliver a strong message on the virtues of a sex-free premarital lifestyle". The program, entitled "Abstinence is Rad!" calls for enlisting an array of skateboarders, professional surfers, and race car drivers to not only carry the pro abstinence message while competing, but also star in a nationwide ad blitz to make the abstinence lifestyle seem, in the words of the organization's leaked marketing plan, "more cool, 'street', tuff, and generally more Rad". It is unclear which, if any, driver would accept this sponsorship.

In an Ike Durbin, Inc. press conference yesterday, it was announced that Takamisaki Enterprises, a Japanese investment company, would fund the team in 2013, in order for the team to run the full schedule. This means that Takamisaki Enterprises will be the main sponsor for the number 4 car, which this year is a Dodge. Although rumors had originally stated that the team would remain with Dodge, it has now been revealed that they are looking at other chassis to run for 2013. Among them are Audi, Mitsubishi, Infiniti.

Tool company to sponsor Leckliter Racing?
The Detroit based tool company Binford Tools is said to sponsor both Leckliter Racing cars in 2013, but as long as Leckliter agrees to merge his team with the SCRA Binford team. The team name is unknown at this time, but it's said that Leckliter will still hold power within the team.
Leckliter and Winter will stay with the team for 2013, and if the Binford deal goes through, a third car will be in the part time slot, it's unknown on whose going to drive it, but it might be either Al Taylor or Tim Borland, the SCRA drivers who drive for the team.
Regardless of what happens, the team will stay with the Chevy Impala.

Gallagher looking at All Options
Brian Gallagher, for the entirety of his PCC Cup Series carrer has raced for Paloma Autosport. However Brian has said that he is unsure where he will be next year. "I would really like to stay at Paloma Autosport. However at this point, I have to start looking around. See what other options are out there. The deciding factor is, where am I going to have the best chance to win. I think Paloma has race winning cars, if Manticore wasn't around. I know I could have won a race in 2011. But when I got injured, that ended that hope. So I am still looking around." Gallagher has been in talks with a few unnamed teams, as well as Paloma.

Series in talks with Alien Overlords, plan to host race
PCC Cup Series President John Kowalski announced that he is in talks with a supreme alien race from the planet Zarklon XII, who wish to host a race next season.
Kowalski stated in an interview, "It is our destiny to race on their track; the Dynastic Overlord Th'uul has ruled it so. All shall bow down to his mercilessness or be vaporized."
In a preliminary schedule leaked by several media outlets, this event was included as the 11th round.

The Sun Teaming up with Tammerzan?
Andrew Tammerzan's 2013 effort will be supported by The Sun. The British newspaper will use the Canadian driver's entry to promote Page 3, a section devoted to scantily clad models. Tammerzan told reporters that the deal was a "dream come true". Representatives of the News Corporation owned magazine stated that the relationship will begin at Brands Hatch with a promotion involving Tammerzan. Cameron Taylor, a friend and competitor of Tammerzan shook his head saying "I will never hear the end of this".

Twin Races announced for 2013
After the Brands Hatch Qualifier today, PCC Cup President John Kowalski made a statement regarding the qualifying procedure for next season.
"All of these teams are complaining that they don't get the chance to show themselves during the main race, even though a lot of the teams that are complaining are trash. So, to appease them, we're eliminating qualifiers altogether for next season. Everyone who shows up will get the chance to qualify, except for the over-capacity events of Mansfield, Vnukovo, and of course, the Cleveland Grand Prix."

Delgado Furious at Kowalski for "Trash" Remark
PCC Cup President John Kowalski announced the change to a Twin Race format, eliminating the qualifying events...but not before taking shots at the teams who "complained" about not getting the chance to show themselves, calling them "trash".
Apparently being sandwiched in with those "trash" teams didn't sit well with TDR owner Tom Delgado. "While I support Mr. Kowalski's decision to change to a twin-race format, I am not happy that he thinks very little of the operations who grind week after week to try and get that all-important track time to improve their efforts! We don't plan on being among those "trash" organizations for long, but to belittle our efforts is absolutely unnecessary. I am extremely disappointed in our President and hope that in the future, he chooses his words, otherwise he risks alienating even more teams" Delgado said in a statement.
Tom Delgado Racing will be expanding back to two full time teams next season, with Delgado himself running for Rookie of the Year honors alongside A.J. Murphy.

Helsing to bring the Hunter into the PCC Cup Fray?
The auto manufacturer with no connections what so ever to Lycoia has applied to PCC Cup officials to hopefully get the Hunter into the fray and to make it available to any teams that wish to use it.
"Like Lycoia, we're striving to make... our chassis more reliable than anything when it comes down to it. No point in having tons of horsepower under the hood if the engine decides to go. However, teams will be able to use whatever engines they see fit if they want to just use the chassis." Aaron Helsing, a member of the board of directors wrote on his facebook page.

Massive overhaul for DDH Racing
David Hetzel has announced a complete overhaul for DDH racing after the current season has been beset with issues and infighting amongst Hetzel and current supplier BMW. There has been turmoil between hetzel and the German brand over the braking system and brake ducts, Hetzel says BMW has done nothing to modify the system and that the current system is making the car slow on most oval tracks. Hetzel will jump over to Ford and there Fusion model. Funding will be almost entirely brand new with Barret's Pharmacies and Katie's Vinegar as the primary sponsors. there will be a second car but it's still in the works and no info has been posted.

RBM
RBM- Press Release
Team Owner: Rence Brown
Thank you all for coming out today, its truly an honor to have you all here to hear what we have in store for next season. First off, I just want to say how great this whole RBM team has been since we have started late this season and how much fun it is for us to be part of such a great series that is the PCC cup! Now onto the business at hand, it is my pleasure as owner of Rence Brown Motorsports, to introduce to you, our full time driver for the PCC cup series in 2013, Daniel Sharp. We have talked for a while and Daniel has given us such a great shot at not only seeing where our equipment lies, but also where his talent is! After the Talladega race we knew we had such a special talent behind the wheel and we signed him to a few more races and he never disappointed! We are pleased to also be bringing back, the #01 Rence Brown Muzzle Foundation/ Steve Rada School of Fuck Lola for the 2013 season as well! We feel with Daniel the sky is the limit and we cannot wait for the season to fully start next year and contend for the championship. We also have one more announcement for next season as well, we have also signed our crew chief for next season, he has been with us since the very beginning and he has helped us get to the point where we feel we can trust his every move on the box. Our new crew chief for 2013 and beyond is Eddie Gastbury"
Q: "Daniel What is your goal for next season?"
"Well for next season, I feel that we can achieve a lot, in the one off races I ran this season, we have shown that for a new team, we have the pieces to run up front and contend. When Rence came to me mid season and said that there was a seat available, I had to take it! How many times can an owner walk up to you, with a fully sponsored car and say, we want you to be the forefront of this organization? We went testing and the speed was there, it was all about putting the right parts together Eddie also builds amazing cars and he has been so instrumental in us getting up to speed it unreal! I cant wait to be working with him next season!"[/b][/b]
Q: Daniel, how long is this contract going to last for?"
Currently, we have a 3 year deal running until the end of the 2016 campaign, I hope to stay here for longer than that of course. I just feel at home with this race team. Sure, I could go to a bigger organization and have more cars and have teammates, but its just something about this place that just seems like home!"
Q: Eddie, are you ready to work with a rookie full time next season and not have the pressure of a championship hurt how you look at things?"
"Well, you have to look at the fact that he is a rookie has nothing to do with the outlook at what we have to work with A. A rookie is a rookie and that is a just a class title, its what he does behind the wheel that counts and B, the championship is the one thing that every team has on their mind, so i reality, its a stupid question to ask if we are the only team to be looking at the big picture. I feel Daniel is a great personality to work with, he understands the car, he knows where his limits are and he's hungry. I cant thank the organization enough for this great opportunity to work with not only Daniel, but Rence and this great group of guys for the next couple of years"
