Big Changes to Race Weekend Format and Team Limits in 2014

CEO Ryan Truro has come out and said that many changes will be made for Dash Cup in 2014.

Firstly, the Dash Cup race weekend layout will change from a double header layout to a three race weekend, but instead of two different fields running the races, the same drivers will attempt every race in the weekend. For race 1, a qualifying session will determine the order of the starting grid, while for race 2, the field will line up in order of how they finished in race 1. However, for race 3, the results from race 2 will be inverted, and the driver who started last will start on pole and so forth. Adding onto this, each driver will only have their primary and backup car. If they wreck both of their cars in the first two races, they cannot take the grid in race 3.

Secondly, each team will consist of two full time cars, as well as a third car which can be entered for up to 4 rounds a year. With the schedule expected to be shortened to 15 races, as well as there being one over capacity race next season, the third cars will be making a third of the races. The amount of full time slots available will be capped at 30, which means there will be 15 teams appearing on a regular basis. Teams local to the track may also attempt a race as a one off, but they can be turned away.

The car models are expected to be the same, however the designs could be different, but this is yet to be officially announced.

Teams that are going to attempt are expected to announce their 2014 drivers soon as the Dash Cup officials start to announce the accepted teams.

That being said...

Fire Away.

D&S Automotive Anticipates Return to Dash Cup, Eyes Other Series
Following a gradual increase in finishing positions throughout the 2013 season, D&S Automotive plans to return to the Dash Cup series full-time next year. It is believed that the team plans to move Michael van der Schimdt up to a full-time spot, but it is uncertain whether Thomas Dietrich will remain in Dash Cup or move to another series. The team may be seeking an Independent's Trophy slot in the TM Master Cup Series, or at least a Promoter's Option as with this season. The team is also reportedly interested in entering TM Lights in some capacity.

Arrow Dynamics, bought out by S&S Technologies

Dutch/Indian team Arrow Dynamics has been bought out by Japanese microelectronics firm, Shinjuku & Sansei Technologies for an undisclosed amount of money. The name of the team for 2013 will be Arrow/S&S, with the full conversion to S&S Technologies for 2014. S&S president of racing operations, Komura Hamora stated, "We intend on keeping the Dash Cup team open, while eliminating all teams based in the US. It is simply to costly to run two different shops. However we here at S&S is very commited to making this team a championship contender in the Dash Cup Series!" Since the buy, both Pushanda brothers have sold their entire stake in the team. While Dutch businessman, Michael Proarbos has sold 28 percent of his share of the team. So S&S technologies holds 72 percent of the team.

Terra International Motorsports Dash Cup division to be rebranded as Phoenix Performance Racing

It's not much a secret, but it seems that Phoenix Performance Racing will be replacing Terra Int'l Motorsport's Dash Cup operations after 2013. Ambercroft and Dubout are slated to remain on the team while Michael Dougly may also return in the third car. The team will re-apply to keep the numbers 110, 220, and will most likely attempt to grab 330 for their third car. Ambercroft and Dubout will also switch numbers in 2014 if the team is accepted. The team will be remaining with the Lycoia Interceptor, which is due to get a bit of a facelift from the 2013 model.

Domination Racing to go Full time in 2014

Domination Racing owner Dominic Costello has announced plans to enter his team into Dash Cup full time for 2014. The team will plan to field 2 full time cars and 1 part time car. It has been confirmed that one of the full time entries will be driven by Cosmo Costello, Dominic's son. Costello has been confirmed to attempt the Spa GP later on in the 2013 season. The other full time entry was planned to be driven by Thomas Robert, but that could be in jeopardy as Robert has not been confirmed to attempt the Spa GP. An open tryout will be held for the part time entry, which was intended to be for Vladimir Rheinhardt, but he decided to try ARLA instead for next year

Sceptre Racing Plans for 2014

With the 2013 season in progress, the 2014 Silly Season has begun. Rumors are already going around that Jacob Tremblay may hang up the helmet at the conclusion of this season to become a full-time owner. In 2012, Jacob Tremblay came out of retirement after his son Ben was tragically killed in the Rockingham GP. Tremblay would go on to finish an incredible 8th in the championship despite not running the first 5 races of the season. The elder Tremblay is not expected to make an annoucement regarding his racing career until at least after the Spa GP. His youngest son Matt also runs in the Dash Cup for his father's team along with Serbian driver Anto Markov.

SuzukaCorp. Expected to Return in 2014

Despite having a lackluster start to 2013, SuzukaCorp. team owner Hideo Suzuka confirmed the team's intent to return to Dash Cup in 2014. While details have not been specified, Suzuka stated that he is currently in talks with a few drivers to fill out the lineup. It is unknown whether former series champion Daniel Miller will return or not.

Ike Durbin, Inc. Status Unknown for 2014

Team owner Ike Durbin made it clear after Christian McMillan's win at Toddring that the team was struggling financially and was looking for help to finish the 2013 season. It is currently unknown whether the team will finish the current Dash Cup season, let alone run in 2014. On the Ike Durbin, Inc. Dash Cup page, the following statement was seen:

"As many of you know, the team is having financial struggles. We are currently in talks with investors that may help us finish the 2013 season. While nothing is confirmed yet, expect us to at the very least finish out the season in some capacity. While we hope to be able to race in Dash Cup long-term, we have to focus on right now and make sure we are able to give the best equipment we can to Christian every week. As soon as an announcement is ready to be made, you will know, so watch this space."

Team CTR Remaining in Dash Cup

U.S.-based racing outfit Team CTR announced that it intends to remain in the Dash Cup series for the 2014 season. Jess Zander will remain with the team, and Frenchman Sebastien Dubois is expected to fill the team's second seat. Current reports have TM Lights driver Joe Olenick splitting seat time in the third car with another driver, but there is no word on who that is at this time.

Team CTR is expected to remain with Lenard for the 2014 season. The team is applying for the numbers 23, 46 and 92, and have lined up sponsorship from ATMOS corporation, who is expected to sponsor one or both of the full-time cars. Cavinata Limoncello, Joe Olenick's sponsor in the ARLA Elite Series, will likely back the team as well.

Team owner Tom Bennett, in an interview with local media, stated "We're happy with how we're progressing. It's our first year running full-time in Dash Cup and we feel like we're making great strides. We're definitely competitive and we feel like next year will be even better. I know Lenard has pledged their support for us for another season at least. Now it's up to the officials."

FIAM Engineering could make Dash Cup appearance in 2014

After a lacklustre beginning to their Formula Overdrive campaign, FIAM Engineering could consider pushing their 24 year old development driver, Giuseppe Marchetti, toward the Dash Cup.

With ex-Italian F3000 champion Alessio Fabiani and former TM Lights front runner Sakura Motoko at the helm of the Formula Overdrive project, results lacked the success of 2012 when Alessandro Rossini carried the car to 4th outright in the championship. With Fabiani failing to score and Motoko claiming 12 points from the first 3 races the FIAM head, Davide Agnello, appears close to bringing the operation to an end by the end of the season. While only vaguely hinted at dropping the FO team when Agnello commented that "it [had] been a difficult year and we are looking at different opportunities next year", inside sources claim there is little hope in seeing the Italian sportscar manufacture return for the following season, putting both Fabiani's and Motoko's career into serious doubt.

Subsequently, leading FIAM driver and motorsports director, Alessandro Rossini, has told Farfale News Italia that FIAM were eager to make an entrance into stock cars. "We have various attempts in single seaters, where the majority do not look good. FIAM have made great progress in stock cars, which was seen greatly with our young Italians in Karjala and partly seen with the chassis we produced with Tutino. Marchetti is also a bright star for the future, if he doesn't make it somewhere then someone somewhere has made a big mistake."

While the idea remains very open, unless a change is seen in their US single seaters campaign it seems apparent that FIAM will make their European stock car debut in 2014.

Motoko, Giovanardi confirmed for additional seats

With the completion of the 9th round in France, the FIAM's Formula Overdrive team conceded that they would not return for 2014. With only 47 points scored from the first 9 races, 44 of which were earned by Sakura Motoko, the team sits 14th place, considerably lower than it had done in the previous year.

"It's not been a promising season. I think we pushed Alessio [Fabiani] much too quick, Motoko on the otherhand has been strong. We know she's a strong driver and we are aware of her skill in stock cars after her TM Lights campaign. We would consider her the best option to partner Marchetti," Rossini told La Gazzetta last Sunday.

Franco Giovanardi has also been widely linked with the 3rd role in FIAM's Dash Cup pursuit, having competed in the 2012 Spa Grand Prix and 2013 Lausitz Grand Prix pre-qualifying stages, and also having been enrolled to this years edition of the Spa Grand Prix. While he still remains the Italian sportscar giants leading Formula C development driver, currenty 1st in the Italian championship, he has also made sporadic appearances in the WTC, where he claimed a 7th place in Italy last year, a series which uses cars with similar performance levels of that of the Dash Cup.

The future of current FIAM driver Alessio Fabiani has been thrown into the whirlpool, after recent comments Rossini made to La Gazzetta.

"While I've worked with Alessio for many years and wish him to stay on, it's out of my control."

On a continuation of Rossini's recent comments, he also suggested that FIAM are busy in the motorsport department as they aim to bring out a race model of popular family car, the FIAM Cinque, in preparation for 2014. The Cinque, which was released to the public for the affordable price of £28,000, has since sold significantly well across Italy but sales in other European nations have failed to reach targets.

Rossini believes that with success in the Dash Cup FIAM Cinque sales will be boosted due to the popularity of the Dash Cup in the UK and Germany, where the majority of the races are held.

I've started to form a team charts with some of my teams, and with all the interest, I'm going to think of a part time system so I can accommodate as many teams as possible while keeping the same race layout. The grid cap will probably be 40 cars, so that could bring in space for a few third cars and part timers to come in. I'll be posting some rumours soon, but for now, keep up your rumours Razz

S&S announces, Jankovic and Tomzak, still seeking second driver

S&S Development has announced that driver Velmier Jankovic will be retained as the team's lead driver. Derivatious Tomzak will be retained as the part time driver next season. Jankovic said ""Изузетно сам привлегед да вози један од Сантандер С & С аутомобила следеће године тим такође има поверење у мене да ме питају да има рећи на који је 2. возач ће бити. То је заиста позитивна ствар да знате да ја имамдобар однос са новим власницима " Which translates to, "I am extremely privileged to drive one of the Santander S&S cars next year. The team also has the confidence in me to ask me to have a say on who the 2nd driver will be! It really is a positive thing to know that I have a good relationship with the new owners." As Jankovic said, the team has also allowed him to have a say in who gets hired in the other S&S Santander car.

Westockin Intends To Return in 2014

After the recent announcements of several major changes coming to Dash Cup in 2014, including a shortened schedule and a new two full-time and one part-time team mandate, which forms the new 30 driver/15 team cap, it was revealed that Westockin Racing Team intends to return for yet another year of Dash Cup competition in 2014.

Already signed on with the team from last year, 26-year-old Irishman Andrew O'Reilly and his #9 Barry's Tea/DiscoverIreland STS will be back on the grid.

Who will be paired up with the young Irishman next year is still yet to be seen, along with the team's third part-time operation. However, rumors are circulating that 34-year-old Michel Andvers, a Danish rally car driver from Lillerød, Denmark, is set to be in the team's second car. Andvers has 3 rally wins to his name, and has a highest final season points finish of 3rd, which came back in 2011.

The part-time third car seat is still wide open, although some have speculated that a well-funded individual will be seen in that car come next year.

With the return of Barry's Tea, Discover Ireland, STS, and the #9, there are still many more announcements to come from the Westockin Racing Team camp in the near future.

Read the above posts, they mostly give you an idea of what to do in order to get a team into the Dash Cup.

Best thing you can do is to write a press release for your team to outline your team, drivers and car, and maybe sponsorship and car numbers.

Zerker Motorsports to Buy Out Ike Durbin, Inc. Effective As of Spa

Ike Durbin, Inc.'s struggles to find the money to finish out the season have been well documented.  It had been reported on the Ike Durbin, Inc. site that the team was in talks with investors to help them finish out the season.  It wasn't expected, however, that another team would buy them out completely, as is the case here.  It was reported last night that Zerker Motorsports, a team who will make their first Dash Cup attempt at Spa, would buy out the Ike Durbin, Inc. team, taking over the operations after the conclusion of the Spa race.  All indications are that the 86 will move over to the STS chassis as that is what Zerker plans to run.  It doesn't look like anything else will change otherwise.

Kurt Reynolds to go full-time in 2013, Ward looking for decent ride

Part-time driver for G-Force Racing Kurt Reynolds has signed to go full-time in 2014 with the same team and sponsor SPEED Energy sticking with them. Reynolds will also retain the 55 on his car, which will be the Lycoia Interceptor next year as he currently does right now.

Meanwhile, Barney Ward though is hoping to find a good enough ride for the 2014 season to show for it. He has shown good pace so far in his Dash Cup campaign, unlike how his ARLA career went, and hopes good results and maybe even a win or two will show teams the potential he has to be very competitive.

Peregrine Returning?

Peregrine Autosport has filed an entry for the 2014 Dash Cup season. The team competed in the series in the past, famously winning the Motegi round with then-debutant driver Alexander Sybilton. Sybilton is expected to return alongside either Ernst Mossbrüger or Dutch driver Hester van Rhyssen, although van Rhyssen is a more likely candidate for the reserve driver position.

DRAACHREIDER LOOKING TO PURCHASE DRAGONRIDER MOTORSPORTS AND FORM HIS OWN DASH CUP TEAM

Dragonrider Motorsports driver Erik Draachreider is apparently aiming high for the 2014 season, as he is looking to buy the team he is currently driving for, and turn it into his own team, which if accepted, will be renamed Deutsche Dragon Autosport, after his ISCA nickname. Draachreider has been given the green light by Packer Carroll, who owns a minor share in the team, and Packer's stepfather, Gary Hoffman, who owns the majority.

ERIK: I'm seeing this as an opportunity to raise my profile and maybe be noticed by a high profile TM Master Cup team in 2015-16. Being successful as an owner-driver would certainly open some eyes.

It is unknown who will be in the other two cars, although it is more than likely that he will hire fellow German Zane Vanderheiden, a childhood friend of his who like Draachreider spent some time in German sports cars, and Canadian John Quackenbush, who drove GRI's #71 ISCA entry this season after Draachreider left for Dash Cup.

Morton comments on 2014 status

Interviewer: Dan, do you have any current plans for the 2014 Dash Cup season at this time?

Dan Morton: I don't really know yet, sorry. I have to thank the Eichholtz-Atlantic team for giving me such a great opportunity at Spa later this year. The way I view my situation is this: If I perform well at Spa, I'll be interested in a drive in Dash Cup. If I don't, I've shown to myself that I shouldn't be here because there is no excuse to finish poorly for one of the biggest teams in the series. The finish I get at Spa is ultimately going to decide if I stay or leave.

Interviewer: What about Casey Lester's team? If they need you after you wreck or something in Belgium, will you still drive the 94?

Dan: I've already made myself clear on what I will do. If that happens, they can find a different driver.

Interviewer: I see. Thank you for your time, Daniel.

Dan: Thank you for taking mine. *laughs, walks to hauler*

European Autosport hopes to return in 2014; Rundstrom to second car?

After winning in their debut race in their first full year, European Autosport owners Miko Rantanen and Hans Rennfahrer said they would like to return to improve on that in 2014.  Rantanen is expected to stay in the 777, but no official word on who would be in the second car.  However, it well probably end up being Nikolaus Rundstrom, who is attempting the Spa GP this season.  Rundstrom competed with Rantanen in Finnish rally cars and has full funding if accepted.  As for manufacturer, the team may switch to Lycoia.

(OOC: Do all three team cars have to look identical like in Formula 1?)

Michel Andvers and María Matos Confirmed for Westockin

The Westockin Racing Team will have a much different look next year, as both Michel Andvers of Lillerød, Denmark and María Matos of València, Spain will join Irishman Andrew O'Reilly for the 2014 Dash Cup season.

As reported earlier in the week, Andvers, the 34-year-old Danish rally racing star, was the leading candidate for assuming the newly-formed second seat for the British-based team, which has had somewhat of a history of taking rally racers and putting them into European stock cars with some success. Andvers will pilot the #38 Husqvarna/Olsbergs STS, which will also have a small amount of backing from Andvers himself, thanks to his "Team Andvers" fan club also being featured on the car.

The third car part-time slot was speculated to be filled by a financially backed driver. This rumor turned out to be true, as María Matos, a 21-year-old former Spanish Touring Car Championship driver with sponsorship backing by Spanish multinational oil and gas company Cepsa (Compañía Española de Petróleos, S.A.), will also join the team. She is slated to drive the #136 Cepsa STS for the team on a part-time basis for 2014. In her 2 years of STCC competition, she has posted a best finish of 12th, which came at Barcelona last year.

Here is the full rundown for the Westockin Racing Team's 2014 Dash Cup season if accepted by Dash Cup officials. Some information, including numbers and sponsors, are subject to change.

Full-Time:

#9 - Andrew O'Reilly (IRE) Barry's Tea/Discover Ireland STS Arrow
#38 - Michel Andvers (DEN) Husqvarna/Olsbergs STS Arrow

Part-Time:

#136 - María Matos (ESP) Cepsa STS Arrow

Scuderia Alitalia to expand, attempt to enter Dash Cup

On the heels of Benoit Voeckler driving in the Karjala Grand Prix with the team he drives in Formula B for, the Italian team has announced their intent to enter the Dash Cup for next season. "We plan to use this as a jumping off point for some of the drivers in our Junior Programme," team boss Alessandro Linari said in Karjala, "World GT has been a huge success for us, and that is something we wish to continue,  we feel these series provide the best warm up for the up-and commers in the Alitalia Juniores Squadra"

They also confirmed the two drivers that would be driving full time if they were to be accepted, younger sister to Benoit, Adélaïde Voeckler and Italian Salvatore Miccoli driving the 227 and 228 cars full time respectively whilst the deal for the cars that they could potentially drive is in the works.

#227 -  Adélaïde Voeckler - Car TBA (Sponsor: Alstom)
#228 -  Salvatore Miccoli - Car TBA  (Sponsor: Alstom)
#229 PT - Giovanni Roda - Car TBA (Sponsor: Alstom/RayBan)

The team chart is not yet finished despite all 15 teams being filled. I'm thinking of going up to 17 or 18 (or more) teams then working my way back down to 15 from there because I am still getting a lot of good entries here.

And to answer your question, Chives, no, they don't have to Razz

Mao-Otan Racing formed, starting with 2 full time drivers/owners

Mao Jones, age 39, and Otan Randall, age 42 announced they will be part of the 2014 Dash Cup, taking numbers 76 for Jones, and 66 for Randall. Though Sponsorship is unknown at this time, they do confirm they will attempt to race all the rounds. Prior to the announcement, they were thinking of 3 drivers, one of which would be part time, but ultimately, they decided that 2 will be better financially. They also said sponsorship is still in progress.

ENB to return in 2014

It's only been six races so far, but some encourageing results by the Belgian Thomas De Bock have prompted Ecurie Nationale Belge to reapply for the next Dash Cup Series season. While De Bock will attempt to find a drive in a higher-ranked series, Aurélien Moll has already been confirmed as full-time driver, with De Bock's seat still open in case he makes it higher in the racing ladder.

Linari reshuffles Alitalia's Dash Cup plans

Alessandro Linari has stepped in at the helm of his organisation's attempts to enter the Dash Cup, having originally left it to other members of management to organise Il Barone Rampante's possible venture into the series.

Salvatore Miccoli and Adélaïde Voeckler were initially pencilled in to drive the prospective #227 and #228 cars, however Linari has stepped in and reprioritised the team's junior squad programme.

"Sal has redirected his focus at making it to the top level of single seaters," said Linari. "He isn't really in the frame for the drive, his priorities are elsewhere."

Instead, they are moving both drivers previously mentioned elsewhere, and instead drafting in two new young drivers to develop. Italian wheelman Antonio Delvecchio is said to be Alitalia's brightest talent in stock cars, and is currently leading the unaffiliated Reject World Stock Car Championship series this year.

"Antonio is a fine young lad," Linari said. "Perhaps he has some issues with consistency at the moment, but this is normal from a young talent. He will grow and learn. The important thing right now is, he has the raw speed."

The other half of the Alitalia garage will be filled by Delvecchio's compatriot Natalia Valenti, who is the first female member of the Alitalia Juniores Squadra.

The third part-time entry remains, but will have appearances from not only Giovanni Roda, but also Frédéric-Maxime Voeckler, Roda's co-pilot in World GT and father of TMMC part-timer Benoît Voeckler.

#227 - Antonio Delvecchio - Car TBA (Sponsor: Alitalia/Lavezzi)
#228 - Natalia Valenti - Car TBA (Sponsor: Alitalia/Lavezzi)
#229 PT - Giovanni Roda - Car TBA (Sponsor: Alitalia/RayBan)
