Also I just realised, the season would start on the East Coast, and end of the West Coast. I like that.

Brian Scott to make his, in my opinion, long-awaited Sprint Cup debut for the Bank America 500 held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He's also planning to run a part-time schedule in the Series next year as well.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
2014 Silly Season
NATIONWIDE
Childress - Ty Dillon is in the #3. Scott (and his family cash) return. Status of the #33 is still up in the air
JD - Mike Wallace is probably coming back. Not sure about the #4.
JR - No known changes here
Roush - Advocare leaves Childress and is sponsoring the #6, so maybe we will see more of the #16 next season with Chris Buescher and/or Ryan Reed.
TriStar - McClure, Bliss, and Green are all coming back unless something really weird happens and it seems that Cole Whitt is settling in as a long term driver here. Chad Hackenbrancht is still in the cards as well. It seems like the people who buy a ride at TriStar disappear after leaving the team. Tayler Malsam, Cajun Man (Hal Martin), and John Blakentsh!t all disappeared (although Blakenship is still running dirt track races).
Gibbs - Vickers is moving up again, so maybe the #20 will be a full time version of what the #18 was this year. Kyle Busch is (unfortunately) returning and so is Sadler.
Penske - Unless Hornish can find himself a Cup ride he will return. If he does move up and the #12 is still running full time Ryan Blaney would be the lead candidate.
Ware/R3 - They will continue to run paydrivers with Stanton Barrett sprinkled in for variety.
SR2 - Like Ware, it appears that paydrivers will be likely for most of the year but legitimate drivers will also have their go.
RAB - They'd be out of their minds not to have Alex Bowman back. Kenny Wallace will run a part time schedule unless he can find the money to return to full time racing.
Turner/Scott - Piquet and Allgaier seem likely to return. Kyle Larson will run most of the races with someone else filling in when he can't drive. Expect Jeb Burton or James Buescher to run the #32 on these occasions and then get a run in the #34 or #38 at some point. They'll be formidable on road courses with Piquet and probably Paludo as well. Given Harry Scott's purchase of the Phoenix team, Jacques Villeneuve or Owen Kelly could find their way into a car here, so it will be fun to watch this team.
Vision - no idea what will happen next year
Key - TJ Bell might be the new full time driver of the #40. No matter if its him or Sorenson, the #40 will be accompanied by a fleet of cars "sponsored" by Curtis Key Plumbing driven by somewhat washed up drivers.
Petty - Michael Annett will be joined for a few races by Corey LaJoie and/or Ryan Truex.
Clements - Clements will just keep rolling along.
Means - Again, the #52 seems poised to pivot between starting and parking and hiring paydrivers.
Wallace - Steve Wallace will again enter one race and then return to the ether for year.
ML - no changes are known
Creation/Cope - Right when you think this team is gone they reappear. Expect the same in 2014.
Busch - Kligerman is expected to return.

Marty Reid out at ESPN: ESPN says motorsports announcer Marty Reid is no longer with the network. Reid had been with ESPN since 1982 and is the only television play-by-play announcer to cover five different North American motorsports series. He's called NASCAR's Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series, as well as IndyCar and NHRA. An ESPN spokesman says the network is going in a different direction and Allen Bestwick will call the remainder of the Nationwide Series races this season. Reid was the network's lead announcer for IndyCar and that position will be addressed later. Reid erred during the Sept. 21 Nationwide Series race at Kentucky when he called the win for Ryan Blaney one lap shy of the finish. Bestwick called Saturday's race at Dover instead of Reid.(Associated Press)(9-29-2013)
Mixed feelings about this... first of all, I didn't mind Marty on Indycar coverage, so I'll be disappointed if he leaves that. However, I'm also surprised that with the amount of gaffes he's made over the years, it took this long to decide to get rid of him.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Given how many times Marty Reid has screwed up in the booth for the last few years and him not being bad as an Indy Car commentator, I'm surprised he got the boot from ESPN although he's not that great of a commentator in general. I'm wondering myself where he'll end up but I don't think he'll be joining NBC. They got Leigh Diffey in the booth for them. As for who'll be a replacement when commentating an F1 race on the same weekend as the ICS is racing, I'm wondering if it'll be Varsha subbing for Diffey or will it be Reid instead. Or maybe both Reid and Diffey will split the races between Indy Car and F1? Who knows? Speaking of Varsha, what's the word on his contract with FOX?

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Some news from Turner Motorsports
- Kyle Larson is moving to cup with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing but he will still run most of the year in the #32.
- Larson will miss races on non-cup weekends. These include Mid Ohio and Road America. Given Harry Scott's purchase of Phoenix we may see Owen Kelly or Jacques Villeneuve in the #32 for those races. For the other conflicts (such as Iowa) expect a truck series driver like Jeb Burton or Miguel Paludo to drive
- James Buescher may be going full time in the Nationwide series. TSM would likely revive the #38 car and again field four full time entries
- Chase Elliott is the leading candidate to take over the #31 car in the truck series. This would make sense because his father Bill Elliott's final start in a cup car was in a Turner Motorsports entry.
- Jeb Burton will continue to run some Nationwide races in next year either in the part time #34 or in the races unfilled by Larson in the #32.
- The team is working to get Dylan Kwasniewski into a Truck Series ride for next year.
So TSM in 2014 may look something like this:
Nationwide
#30 - Nelson Piquet Jr
#31 - Justin Allgaier
#32 - Kyle Larson and others
#34 - Jeb Burton (part time)
#38 - James Buescher (R)
Trucks
#4 - Jeb Burton
#30 - Dylan Kwasniewski (R)
#31 - Chase Elliott (R)
#32 - Miguel Paludo
- Kyle Larson is moving to cup with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing but he will still run most of the year in the #32.
- Larson will miss races on non-cup weekends. These include Mid Ohio and Road America. Given Harry Scott's purchase of Phoenix we may see Owen Kelly or Jacques Villeneuve in the #32 for those races. Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
I think you're forgetting the fact that Justin Allgaier might take over the #51 in Cup next year, which would leave an open slot at Turner's Nationwide program. And the way things have been looking with sponsorships additions, I'm thinking that seeing Miguel Paludo in the the #31 in Nationwide would not be too hard to believe. That would give Kwasniewski the #32 in Trucks and a lock in spot for the start of next year. I also don't see Turner running a fourth full time car just so Kyle Larson can run some races. I think most likely, Buescher and Paludo move to Nationwide when Larson and Allgaier move into Cup, which opens up spots for Chase Elliott and Dylan Kwasniewski, with part time cars in Nationwide and Trucks. Just some speculation though.Alpineopossum wrote:Some news from Turner Motorsports

It looks like if Chris Buescher moves into Cup, we could have a pretty decent field for Rookie of the Year next year. Dillon and Larson are confirmed, Allgaier could move up, plus with a couple of rides that could bring up young guys, we might have half a dozen rookies next year, the first time since 2006.

The main story of schedule is the Air Titan at every track. So defiantly kept us waiting for nothing. 2015 should bring legit changes though. Apparently the season stays the same until then NBC would start their season at Kentucky, and I'm guessing they wouldn't want that.PYLrulz wrote:NASCAR: Let's move the Kansas and Darlington dates, and call it a schedule revamp!

^Xxxtreme confirmed on Twitter their intent to run the full schedule (and full races) next year. I would say it is one of those 'believe it when we I see it' deals, but that's what they said, at least.

I really hope that this is true and that's the reason why they've stopped showing up on the entry list, so they can save up all of their resources to run the full 2014 season.Rykia_RKXK wrote:^Xxxtreme confirmed on Twitter their intent to run the full schedule (and full races) next year. Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Well, this is interesting:
Todd Parrot suspended by NASCAR UPDATE: Todd Parrott, a crew member in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (#43 team crew chief), has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body's Substance Abuse Policy. On Oct. 17, Parrott was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy) of the 2013 NASCAR Rule Book.(NASCAR)(10-17-2013)
UPDATE: Upon notification today that employee Todd Parrott had violated NASCAR's Substance Abuse Policy, Richard Petty Motorsports fully supports his indefinite suspension from NASCAR. Sammy Johns, Vice President of Operations and Competition, will handle crew chief duties on the #43 Ford this weekend at Talladega. He will also handle these duties on an interim basis until further notice. "We have an expectation of all RPM employees to conduct themselves at the highest level of professionalism and within the competitive confines as set forth by NASCAR," said Johns. "We are very disappointed that one of our employees did not meet our expectations and we completely support NASCAR, their policies and final decisions when it comes to the substance abuse policy."(RPM)(10-17-2013)

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Gateway is back on truck schedule.
NASCAR today announced the 2014 schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, a slate that includes the return to racing at Gateway Motorsports Park for the first time since 2010. Gateway, a 1.25-mile oval in Madison, Ill., just outside of St. Louis, hosted truck series races from 1998-2010 with only one repeat winner in its 13-race history, Ted Musgrave, who won in 2001 and 2005. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kevin Harvick won the most recent Gateway race, in July of 2010. Now independently owned by St. Louis-native Curtis Francois, a former racer with significant ties to the local community, Gateway will hold its 2014 race on June 14. After a two-year hiatus, New Hampshire Motor Speedway likewise returns to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule (Sept. 20). New Hampshire held truck racing from 1996-2011, and will return in 2014 as part of a companion weekend with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series during the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Next season's 22-race schedule also includes two tracks which made wildly successful debuts in 2013; Eldora Speedway (July 23) in Rossburg, Ohio and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Aug. 31) in Bowmanville, Ontario. The entire 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season can be seen on FOX Sports 1 and heard on SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Motor Racing Network Radio. In 2013 Eldora, the 0.5-mile dirt track owned by three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart, held the first NASCAR national series dirt race since 1970. A standing room only crowd of 20,000 fans watched history, as 2011 series champion Austin Dillon captured the victory. This event will be the first of two Wednesday night races for the series, joining Bristol Motor Speedway's popular mid-week race on Aug. 20. This summer, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park became the first road course to host a truck series race in more than a decade. Culminating with end-of-race fireworks that have become a trademark of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series racing, Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Bill Elliott, won the inaugural international event. Next season's schedule features one date shift, with the series racing at Kansas Speedway on May 9, the first night race for the series at the 1.5-mile venue. The balance of the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck schedule, the series' 20th season, maintains a familiar feel, opening with Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 21 and culminating on Nov. 14 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.2014 Truck Series schedule page (NASCAR)(10-25-2013)

Don't count on it. As long as Kasey Kahne and Brad Sweet are still on the JR Motorsports lineup, that's not happening.Alpineopossum wrote:Harvick is going to the JR #5 in nationwide.

Not exactly Jayski, but:

A really interesting look into the JJCR operation and how much they really are hurting. Gives me the impression Jennifer wouldn't be start-and-parking if she didn't have to. Really makes you feel bad for the team, and respect them for toughing it out. Also really good that she can laugh about how bad her operation is.
