Regina McCloud sports a new livery this week.


Cliff Raymond in the 72 is making his Formula Overdrive debut. The Idaho native's entry was accepted when Sovero Yohans and his team were kicked out by Hanmore officials.

Gallagher Pleased with Second Place Run

Meghan Gallagher finished second in the latest race and reclaimed her points lead. After moving up ten positions throughout the race, Gallagher ran out of time on catching the leader. She stated after the race, "The car was great today. The team deserves these type of finishes, not the kind we got at Milwaukee. If I keep driving it right and the team keeps making good cars, we will be a contender all year long."

Daniel Leckliter to do pre race and ride the pace car at Mayville

Many tracks have local drivers, most of the drivers don't do anything special for their home track, unless your name is Daniel Leckliter.

Daniel grew up just 3 miles from where the new Mayville Street Course is located, and and and another half mile from the street course is the Mayville Motorsports Park, where Leckliter drove to three straight go kart championships, and got his first taste of a Sprint Car. Now since Formula Overdrive has come to give the track it's first race later in the year, Leckliter wants to be part of it, not only because of him, but because of his hometown fans as well.

"I was amazed when I first heard of the course being constructed, and when Formula Overdrive decided to schedule the race later this year, the fans wanted me to be there, not only in attendance, but they want me to give the command to start the engines, and to ride in the pace car."

Leckliter was also asked "I see that you have a driver in Formula Overdrive, how emotional would it be if he won in front of your hometown crowd?"

He replied "It would be the greatest day of my life as a car owner, granted Kenny [Morales] should celebrate and bask in the glory of his win, but I want him to know that he brought Mayville's hometown boy's team to victory lane."

Daniel and his brother Robert both tested the course earlier this year in April.

New Jersey businessman to start Overdrive team?

New Jersey businessman Jonathan Trent stated today at Memphis that he was scouting the paddock for two current drivers in the series to drive for his proposed Formula Overdrive team, Trent GP. The team would build their own engines and would be able to find sponsorship for the 2013 season.

Kenny Morales to Move Up the Grid?

With Tommi Arjanien's supposed move to stock cars in 2013, the main spot at the ClarTech factory team is up for grabs. Rumors say Kenny Morales, the former VSCC driver is being looked at for the race seat. This comes as no surprise as Daniel Leckliter stated the new two-car format would put "intense cost and pressure on us."

Bigger Manufacturers in 2013?

Many bigger manufacturers have stated their intent to field an engine in the 2013 Hanmore Formula Overdrive season. Lycoia and STS are two main suppliers that have sent in their applications to Hanmore officials. This would put pressure on smaller teams and drivers like Pushanda, Ishikawa, Roddick, Gallagher, and Gilreath to either find a ride in a bigger team or exit the series in 2013 in hopes to return in 2014. These drivers need good runs to prove to manufacturers they deserve a spot on a top team. (OOC: Many of the one-car teams will be disbanded next season. I still want to keep many of other user's drivers on the grid for next season.)

McNeil signs 3-year contact extension; GLM looking for 2nd driver to replace Fischer next season

Patrick McNeil knows what he's doing next season at least for the next 3 seasons. McNeil signed a 3 year deal with Great Lakes Motorsports that would keep him in the team's Formula Overdrive entry through 2015.

With one driver position on the team locked, GLM is now looking for a second. The team's other driver, Jeff Fischer, is not returning next season in favor of moving to the Dash Cup Series.

Alexander Vilinov and Zeus Godson to enter the 2013 season?

The two drivers, who have recently been acquired by Terra International Motorsports, are the two drivers to potentially drive in the series come 2013. The move by Lycoia Motors applying to be an engine supplier allowed the manufacturer's factory team to make a move into the series. Greg Woodard, who will be attempting the final race of the season, has stated this would be a prime outlet for Lycoia, as their cars so far have been mechanically sound for many other drivers in other series. Only one example however, would prove other wise. That driver is now in the ATATS racing for his own team.

It isn't clear what sponsors will be on the cars, but rumors are that Lycoia Motors and Nova Satellite Radio will be in contention for the sponsorship spots.

REGINA WILL RETURN NEXT SEASON, VOLPI AND GRI TO REUNITE ONCE AGAIN?

With rumors about the 2013 Formula Overdrive season already under way, Gravity Racing, Inc. has already confirmed that Regina McCloud will return next season, due to her having a lifetime contract with the team. With FO returning the two-car per team rule, GRI is currently searching for a driver for the second team for 2013.

Also, the one-manufacturer per team rule will also return next season, and there are rumors swirling that Volpi and GRI will team up once again like in the 2011 season. The two teams have developed a great relationship over the past two seasons, mainly with GRI team owner Packer Carroll's affiliation with the Volpi Racing Team as one of its drivers. While the rumors have not been confirmed, there is a strong possibility of Volpi and GRI joining forces for 2013, under the name they used in 2011, Volpi Gravity Racing.

PACKER: Cyril Volpi and I are definitely talking about it. We would certainly like to revisit the success we had in 2011. So, hopefully, we can come to an agreement for the 2013 season.

Rossini Sport will be returning for 2013
Alessandro Rossini has stated Rossini Sport be making every effort for a return in the 2013. Rossini, in his press release over the teams official website, said they will be receiving support from a major Italian super car manufacturer to field a second vehicle, and are in the process of hiring 19 year old Formula C Alps driver Alessio Fabiani to take the place in the second car.

I rolled #3 for Button, and I wouldn't be surprised with either a McLaren or Alonso on the podium for this weekend. Although, I doubt I can watch through the entire race. Apart from Webber's Le Mans flip, there has never been an exciting moment in this race. Of course, Pirelli are likely to bring a set of tyres made of paper..

Pushanda denies RTR rumors

Sulinder Pushanda will be on the Formula Overdrive free-agent roster if Team VisitOhio doesn't return. Rumor's had him going to RTR Automotive Enginerring, but his agent denied any negotiations with them. "We are talking to other teams, but we cannot confirm who," Pushanda stated.

Team VisitOhio has announced they will lodge an entry in the 2013 Formula Overdrive season. If they get accepted, Ohio's visitors breau will offer a massive sponsership deal with the team. The team will be looking for 2 Ohio residents to pilot their cars.

Rumor: GLM has signed 2nd driver for 2013

A source close to the Great Lakes Motorsports organization confirmed to Auto Racing Magazine (EFR equivalent to Racer Magazine) that the team has reached a deal with a driver to run the team second entry for 2013. GLM's owner, Jim More, has yet to officially confirm this report, but did release this statement:
"We are currently in talks with a driver which we cannot name at this point due to contract negotiations. But, we do have a driver we are close to signing."

GLM signs Sulinder Pushanda to drive second car in 2013

It's official. GLM's driver line up for 2013 has been set. Sulinder Pushanda will join Patrick McNeil as the driver of the team's second entry. Jim More, GLM's owner, confirmed the deal this morning. More also stated the team will try to retain the number's 17 and 44 to use next season.

After the press conference announcing Pushanda's hiring, McNeil was asked about his teammate for 2013.

"He's got a good head on his shoulders and he's got a lot of talent. I've had a chance to talk with him and discuss things from racing to life, and I'm looking forward to having him as a teammate next year."

Vijay Pushanda to run the Hanmore World Championship

In a suprising announcement, Vijay Pushanda will join his brother, Sulinder, at the Hanmore World Championship event that closes the Formula Overdrive season. Vijay said in a press release, "I ran in the 2011 Formula Overdrive Season. And it kick-started my new American carrer, however, I have never ran on a oval in an openwheeled car. So I initally was against joining the event. But after seeing some very hard crashes this year, and see the drivers walk away. I've changed my status on openwheel cars running on ovals. Plus, Sulinder was pestering me to do it."
Pushanda will be racing for himself. However, he has not announced his sponser, or number.

Rossini Sport announce partnership with Motori Lombardia
Lombardian Formula C engine manufacturer, Motori Lombardia, has officially been announced as the supplier and primary sponsor for Rossini Sport in 2013. Motori Lombardia, a long time supplier for teams in the European Formula C championships, announced via twitter of the recent partnership.

"I have worked with them [Motori Lombardia] since 2007," said Rossini, "and it is fantastic to continue with them. Their engines lead me to 2 championships in the Alps Formula C, and currently supplies engines to the youth drivers of Rossini Sport."

Additionally, Rossini officially announced the signing of Alessio Fabiani, a 19 year old Italian currently driving in Italian F3000 for Rossini.

Tanya Carter in serious but stable condition after crash

After a large lap 7 accident, Tanya Carter, the young Irish driver, was taken to hospital for what was expected to be "life-threatening injuries", however, Tanya Carter's condition started getting better as the day went on, and at around 5:30pm EST, Tanya came around and was conscious and responding in short sentences to visitors and doctors.

Tanya's car was struck by Meghan Gallagher's when Gallagher was sent airbourne into the catchfence. The right rear tire struck Tanya's cockpit, and hit Tanya herself, causing Tanya to have a severe concussion, a broken right arm, and several broken ribs, and will see her out of the car for the forseeable future.

Tanya's replacement will be father Garry, who had this to say on the matter. "I'm glad that wasn't any worse for Tanya, but I'm really upset that this has happened to her. She was having a fantastic season, with a win to her name. It's a real shame."

Ross Carter also said something on the matter, saying he hopes that Tanya "pulls through" on Twitter. Ross Carter said also to the press that Tanya wanted to pursue a career in stock car racing, so this may be more of an incentive for Tanya to make the transition, if she recovers in time.

McNeil finishes 7th, while teammate Fischer critical of officials after crash

For GLM's two drivers, Darlington was the tale of two tapes. For Patrick McNeil, Darlington was a chance to put this season back on track. For Jeff Fischer, who entered 4th in the standing it was chance to maybe capitalize on momentum.

McNeil was just in front of the pack of cars when the big crash that saw big hits for Gallagher and Carter. After the race was called, McNeil was posted with a 7th place finish. He's currently 10th in the standing.

Fischer on the other hand wasn't so lucky. Fischer was one of the cars involved in the crash. He was lucky however to walk away without injury. Afterword, Fischer was very vocal about the incident.

"That should not have happened. I don't know what the officials are thinking. First Ryan [Griffin] is injured in a testing crash with this package, and now we have Tanya and Megan with serious injuries after the package is run here at Darlington. I don't know what [expletive] moron up there decided that Darlington was the perfect place to not only run these cars but in packs like we were, but there need to be [expletive] fired and blacklisted from auto racing. It's a good thing I'm leaving the series at the end of this year, because after today, I'm afraid for these guys and for what more could happen."

Fischer is currently 6th in points, 20 behind current leader Kenny Morales. He is tied with Tanya Carter, but with today incident this will likely change that.

Gilreath angry at scheduler

Ethan Gilreath was visibly angry after being involved ina huge wreck that nearly killed Tanya Carter and Meghan Gallgher. Gilreath called out the officials saying that a monkey scheduled this race and blaimed the track by saying that he couldn't turn the car to the left hard enough because of momentum from the track.

Ishikawa sore, but OK after big wreck

After being sent to a local hospital following the massive crash on lap 7 of the ClarTech Darlington Dash that severely injured Tanya Carter and Meghan Gallagher, Akira Ishikawa complained of some soreness but is alright. After being released, Ishikawa did something she hasn't done all season, address the media. However, due to her inability to fully speak English, she said the following in Japanese.

"That was absolutely stupid. Who's idea was it to run an aero package for Texas at Darlington. The two track aren't even remotely similar. The officials are lucky no one was killed. I just hope Carter and Gallagher are alright."

Despite being involved in the wreck, she was ranked 12th when the race was called, giving her two points. She drops to 12th in the driver standing, 27 points behind Kenny Morales.

DSR Carter to return in 2013

DSR Carter will return next season, keeping both the #2 and the #92 for the 2013. However, as expected, Ross will return, but Tanya Carter is expected to go over to Dash Cup racing. Cindy Delamere, an up and coming British open wheel driver is expected to pilot the 92 next season.

"I'm really excited" said Delamere "I feel like this is a new chapter to my racing career. I've never been in a series as high-caliber as Formula Overdrive. I'm just overwhelmed with the news right now!"

Natalie Kendall, who currently pilots a third car for DSR Carter Racing will not return, as she plans to also make the same transition as Tanya Carter, a move to Dash Cup, while Garry Carter, who is currently replacing Tanya after her crash at Darlington, will go back into retirement.

Schneider to return in 2013; Schmitt's status unknown

After a brief meeting this afternoon, it was announced that Klaus Schneider will be returning in 2013 with Zukunft Legenden Motorsports, however it is unknown whether or not Lukas Schmitt will be returning next season as he contemplates retirement from racing altogether. Whether he retires or not, the team announced that they are fine with whatever decision he makes.

Rossini Sport confirm capture of young Thai driver and announce partnership with Black Bull Energy
Rossini Sport have announced their signing of young 17 year old Thai driver, Datsakorn Sripan, as a reserve driver to the team. Sripan, who currently competes under a British racing license in the British Formula SAAR championship where he has taken considerable success in his premier season, however has supposedly been signed specifically for Black Bull Energy Drinks, a major global country based in both Austria and Thailand. It is said Datsakorn could bring in over $3.5million through sponsorship money across a year in 2013.
