Re: 2014 Round of Mansfield Pre-Race Thread
Brancher shocks the PCC World with pole.
New Mexico native J.W Brancher made news today when he shocked the world and won the pole for Mansfield in his Mazda RX-8. Brancher was undoubtedly excited and released a statement soon after that went as follows: "I am excited, but even moreso for the entire state of New Mexico! I hope we can prove ourselves during the race and we can not only bring the #8 car to victory lane, but every single person from New Mexico to victory lane too!"

The guy with a seat in Turn 1 after seeing the qualifying results: "Damn, Jon Arbuckle qualified way down the order. I had $1,000 on him getting pole. My wife's gonna kill me."

Re: 2014 Round of Mansfield Pre-Race Thread
Captain Falcon was seen destroying things in the garage area after his poor qualifying effort. Rumor is he was rambling about how "my car sucks" and "that bastard Delgado ate my cookies."

Let the ride-buying begin!
Re: 2014 Round of Mansfield Pre-Race Thread
Davy S Flymflam to buy out Daniel Leckliter's car for the main race.
After a very abysmal run for the Seychellois driver, Flymflam walked up to Leckliter asking to buy his ride. Leckliter repeatedly told him that he too was out of the race, but Flymflam reportedly kept insisting that Leckliter should sell his ride, with prices ranging from 5 cents to 400 quadrillion dollars.
"what a weird guy." said Leckliter, who at that point was still wondering what the hell had happened.

Delgado Waxes Poetic About DNQ, No Intention to Buy In
Tom Delgado knew that his unsponsored #36 Acura would have a very hard time this week, and it turns out he was right. The perpetually pissed off Delgado instead opted to take his DNQ like a man for once. "We brought the wrong car. We got everything wrong this week, and quite frankly, we don't deserve to be in the race. This is gonna kill me in the points though, so it's very disappointing" Delgado said. When asked about the potential of buying his way into the race, Delgado scoffed at the thought. "With what money? Sponsorship's been hit or miss this season, and we kind of need that money for the rest of the season" Delgado added.
His teammate for this week, Benjamin Page in the #40 Build-a-Bae Workshop Acura, also missed the field. Page was too busy on his cell phone & drinking a frappachino from Starbucks to comment on his performance, which was awful, but this week was simply par for the course from Tom Delgado Racing, which despite the win at New York Autoring, looks to be a bit strapped for cash. However, it is believed that the team will bring the #40 back at Cleveland, possibly with a different driver, as Page's contract was only for Mansfield and he is expected to be sent back to wherever the heck he came from.
Ex-Pan Dong Expands His Portfolio, Adds "2014 Round of Mansfield Competitor"
Going into the Tier 4 qualifying race at Mansfield, nobody was paying attention to the somewhat shady #718 BonziWorld Services Mazda of Ex-Pan Dong. However, after finishing 10th and successfully qualifying for the Round of Mansfield, there were maybe one or two more people who took notice. To his credit, Dong has not let the newly-found fame go to his head. Unfortunately for us, he had no comment to offer after the race, as he had several strange purple baboons on his head and shoulders, and the poor chap looked like he was straining under the weight of all that...well, let's call it baggage.

Davy S Flymflam to start race
The Chilean driver has reportedly said that he will start the Round of Mansfield despite not making it in. It is also reported that he didn't buy out anybodies ride, and will just simply put himself on the grid on the pole position. He was asked about it but we cannot release it due to the fact that most of it was racial slurs.

Durbin Looking to Buy Ride for Mansfield?
Ike Durbin has become one of the most consistent drivers on the PCC Cup Series grid, running near the front often and sitting high up in the points standings. However after being turned into the inside wall early in his tier qualifying race, Durbin would have to limp his crippled #50 Verdant Dodge to a spot on the DNQ list.
However, reportedly Durbin is looking to buy a ride into the race in order to maintain his high points position. It is currently unknown at the time if anything will materialize.

Johnson Racing Swapping Drivers for #11, #61
Johnson Racing CEO Jeff Johnson announced today that Sam Brown, driver of the #11 Matco Tools Chevrolet Impala, and Sam Burkhart, driver of the #61 Beyer Sound Systems Chevrolet Impala, would sit out of the Round of Mansfield in favor of Alex Phillips and Cody Deak. Phillips and Deak both failed to qualify for the Round of Mansfield, but are competing full-time in the PCC Cup Series, unlike Brown and Burkhart. Alex Phillips will take over the #11 with additional sponsorship from Merrick Biotech, and Cody Deak will take over the #61. Sam Brown, who in his day-job is the Competition Director at Johnson Racing, did not object to the driver swap and was actually supportive of the decision. "Even though [Sam] Burkhart and I did a good job, we've still got guys that are going for the championship that unfortunately had some problems in their Q races," Sam Brown said. "We're dedicated to pushing them towards the top of the standings, and hopefully by the end of the year we'll have another cup to put in our shop." Sam Burkhart, winner of the PCC Lites Round of Wisconsin earlier this year, reportedly initially objected the replacement, but after a brief meeting with team management was supportive of the driver swap.
Lucas Motorsports Purchases #14 from Dale Kensington Jr.
Ben Worthington, driver of the #6 Phoenix Warehouse of NJ Ford for Lucas Motorsports, failed to qualify for Mansfield after a desperate drive in the Tier 2 qualifier. In the final 60 laps of the Tier 2 qualifier, Ben Worthington drove from 18th place and over 3 seconds behind the final transfer spot to pass Ryan Griffin for 11th with 5 laps remaining, only to be passed by Griffin coming to 2 to go. Fortunately for Worthington, it looks like he'll have another shot to race at Mansfield after all. After the conclusion of the Tier 4 Qualifier, Lucas Motorsports approached owner-driver Dale Kensington Jr., driver of the #14 Kensington Financial Corsa. After a brief meeting, Dale Kensington Jr.'s name was dropped from the official Round of Mansfield lineup and replaced with Ben Worthington. The Lucas Motorsports team has replaced the #14 on Kensington's car with Worthington's stylized #6, and Phoenix Warehouse logos now cover the former #14 car. Kensington Jr.'s only stipulation was that Kensington Financial remain on the newly-numbered 6 car and appear on Lucas Motorsports' other two cars for the remainder of the year.

Juveno looking to purchase a spot in Round of Mansfield
After what has been a rocky season for Barry Juveno, he looks to purchase another competitor's ride to get himself into the Round of Mansfield and boost his poor position in the driver's standings after failing to pass through the B-main. Juveno had no comment on the matter and his agent told the media that "he was hard at work with his team to begin negotiations for a ride."
