NASCAR at Michigan & Mid-Ohio
Sprint Cup and Trucks are in the Irish Hills of Michigan at the fast Michigan Int'l Speedway. Nationwide, however, will be at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the 2nd time ever.
The Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series were at Watkins Glen, which was overshadowed by the tragic events in Upstate New York that involved Tony Stewart hitting Kevin Ward Jr., with his injuries being fatal. Both races turned out to be awesome with Marcos Ambrose winning the NNS race and AJ Allmendinger breaking through to his first Cup win.
Trucks were last seen in Pocono where Austin Dillon gave Chevrolet their 1st win of 2014 in Trucks competition.

NASCAR will be testing two different potential 2015 rules packages at MIS this week. The first will involve a larger spoiler and reduced horsepower, while the other will involve 30% less downforce than current cars and softer compound tires. Could be huge for the direction of the sport.

Wait, LARGER spoilers? As if they hadn't already hit the spoiler event horizon with this year's cars.
Excited for everything else, though.

It would seem to make more sense if they just take away downforce and make the tires softer. Granted, there have been more tires grenading than in the last couple of races, but I think it could make the racing better going that route, IMO.

Re: NASCAR at Michigan & Mid-Ohio
Two pieces of interesting news:
-3M is Leaving Greg Biffle and will be on Jeff Gordon's car for 11 races in 2015
-Nationwide is leaving Ricky Stenhouse Jr and will be Dale Jr's Primary sponsor for a majority of the season
So not only does it look like Roush is losing Edwards, but he's losing more sponsors as well. I'm beginning to think its gonna be abit hard for them to field three cars. Advocare is the only one that hasn't left and as far as I can tell, thats the only secure primery sponsor for one of their cars in 2015.

Fastenal is staying with the team to sponsor Stenhouse.

I'm down for less downforce. Could mean actual racing, rather than get behind a car, and not be able to pass anyone at all because the car needs downforce, and isn't getting it

That's every full-time team except for Hillman (unless they're considered part of Circle Sport), Identity Ventures, and Furniture Row.

Okay, these are the guys that won't be banned. Â Â
But seriously, I think that is going to take some time to this association to do something.

Some more news (one of which is unfortunate):
- Martin Truex Jr will miss practice and qualifying on Friday to be with his girlfriend who was just diagnosed with cancer.
- Still no timetable for Stewart's decision on whether or not he will race this weekend.
- Wood Brothers are going to be announcing their 2015 plans tomorrow.
- The #4 team was fined $25K for the weight that was left in the car at the beginning of the race on Sunday. #98 team was warned about improperly adding/removing fuel from the car in the garage area (they were doing it inside the garage structure when it's suppose to be done outside of it).

Oh, I wanted Labonte, still, Burton is a good choice to the #14, since he'll probably not wreck early in the race

Ah, nice to see Burton back behind the wheel again. As for Stewart, I honestly don't think he'll be back Racing anytime soon regarding the situation he's in right now.

NASCAR makes a significant change. IMO, it's safety first, but what about driver confrontation?

I personally don't see the rule being too big of a deal and i think people won't really notice it after a while, only thing it takes away is the helmet throwing/25K fine challenge.

They're big boys, they don't have to be herded around like preschoolers. This past incident is the only time I've ever heard of anything bad coming out of a driver being on the race track, even when confrontation is involved.

Ryan Truex suffered a big crash in Turn 2 during Saturday morning Practice for tomorrow's Cup Race and has been suffering from shoulder pain and a headache, therefore will sit out the Race.

Apparently, BK Racing were originally going to have Johnny Sauter (or Matt Crafton) in the seat of the 83, but neither fit the seat so its been announced that JJ Yeley will instead sub for Ryan Truex.

Chris Buescher with the win at Mid-Ohio. Kind of surprised...Didn't have him pegged for a win just yet but had been making a turn on the kid. Awesome job by Buescher.
Brian Scott's win has to come soon, the dude has been really fast and just has trouble closing the thing out, sucks that Tag decided to divebomb him Logano-style there.
Smith actually gets ahead of Elliott for once in on-track pace. He needs more of those runs to keep the title hunt alive.
