And now the announcers are already talking about changing the track. Even when everyone walks away completely unharmed we have to start a witch hunt.

..........ok
HOW THE HELL THE CAR ENDED LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, wow, for me this amount of damage in a car would result in death or career-ending injuries, how the hell McDoeu* walked away I don't know.
*This is McDowell's nickname here since his Texas flip. Doeu means Pain or Painful, so McDoeu = McPAIN

Kyle Busch's shenanigans earlier on were legendary.
Methinks Dale will have some new additions to his race car graveyard in the near future. That was a hard wreck, the #95 got LAUNCHED. That's a shame too, I liked the scheme on that car. The important thing is that everyone's okay.
Good race so far, but let me take this time to say that ESPN's coverage is terrible. Did anyone else hear the commentators call Michael McDowell, "Michael McDonalds"?

Sooner or later when racing, you're going to have a big crash; it's inevitable. Everyone was fine, so all the safety features did their job. I see no problem here.

An open wheeler hitting armco isn't too bad, if the armco is built right

At the very least, something needs to be done with that angle with the wall, be it building some kind of fence when the boot is not being used, or just sucking it up, and using the boot (hey, Nationwide runs Road America, which is longer than a boot included Watkins Glen, why can't the NASCAR guys use the boot?!?)

I would welcome the boot. I never really understood why NASCAR has never used it.

We need four laps of yellow because Josh Wise stopped on the grass and got going again once it was safe for him to. OK, NASCAR.

I'll take either of this top two. But just keep in mind that a JTG Daugherty car might win this race.
That was a battle for the lead if I've ever seen one before Hamlin spun. We'll be looking at a GWC, then it's really gonna get wacky.

Not right now. NASCAR throwing cautions for bullshit reasons breed cautions applies here.

Some...well, let's say optimistic use of runoff to stay alongside Ambrose from Allmendinger, but a fine drive nonetheless. Seems JTG putting all their eggs in the road course basket really paid off.

I love Ambrose being a good sport about it in his post-race, I love Allmendinger's celebration and post-race interview, I love Brad Daugherty's reaction. Watkins Glen never fails to disappoint. Love it, love it, love it.

Re: NASCAR Weekend @ The Glen
I hate to sound like a dick, but as much as I want to be happy that Allmendinger won, I can't help but feel so bad for Ambrose. I was really pulling for him to win that one to make it the weekend sweep, and get in the Chase considering he may not be in NASCAR next year, which is something I'm really worried about for him.
Re: NASCAR Weekend @ The Glen
Well, in spite of the tragic events of last night, this was one helluva race. What a tremendous battle between AJ and Ambrose, rubbing some fenders but keeping it clean for the most part, and it was without a doubt the best mano-a-mano battle I've seen this year. Despite two red flags, including the massive wreck just beyond the Carousel, this was definitely one of the best races all season, and further proves why we need more roadies in NASCAR.
I've got to say, the quality of NASCAR's racing in Sprint Cup has really surprised me this year. After several years of mediocrity, the majority of this season has been fairly enjoyable, and we've seen more solid racing this year than the last two years combined. Yes, there have been a few giant turds (I'm looking at you, Coke 600, Dover and Kentucky), but the quality of the racing has improved. The only real downside is the fact that I still think the new Chase format sucks ass, and I think it needs to be done away with entirely.
The Cheez-it 355 @ the Glen gets an impressive 9.25/10. Awesome race.

Stewart will not face criminal charges at this time, and the evidence that has come up is making it look like the accident probably wasn't intentional.

Best race of the year. Awesome racing and a awesome fight for the win.
Glad to see Dinger win the race, a long time coming and a good way to ease a pretty tough weekend for the racing community as a whole.
Fun stuff today.
