The qualifier was fairly uneventful, but as the race wore on some drivers began to make mistakes.
On lap 6, Chuck Johnson in the 64 noobs it off in The Snake trying to outbrake Joe Craig and spins off. He'd get back going again, but with rear-end damage.
On lap 8, Sergei Yakovski in the 61 tries to lap the 420 of Creeper Stevenson, but gets stuck behind him, allowing for David Hetzel in the 17 to scamper away with the lead. However, Yakovski appeared to be faster than him and began to reel him back in slowly.
The next lap, Alex Tanker's slow ass is getting lapped by Ryan Griffin in the 44 when he gets loose coming onto the frontstretch. Griffin holds his line as Tanker sweeps across his front bumper and wrecks himself into the pit wall. He then slides across the track and is hit by an innocent Richard Dean MacGyver, destroying the front ends of both cars and ending their days.
On the last lap, Yakovski digs deep into The Snake and pulls up to Hetzel, barely hooking him. Hetzel saves the car and keeps it on the pavement, but loses enough momentum for Yakovski to sail by and take the win in the qualifier.
Ingrid Haddeland makes her first start with the Williams Racing Team, Tom Delgado makes his first appearance since Vnukovo, and Ryan Griffin qualifies the 44 for its first race since Mansfield(?).

Re: Decatur Qualifier
Delgado Has Uneventful Decatur Q-Race, Finishes 4th
Tom Delgado will make his first start since Vnukovo after finishing 4th in the Decatur qualifying race. He suggested that he could make some serious noise in the race.
"We finally got a good one!" Delgado said, making a tongue-in-cheek remark about how slow his TDR Acuras have been all season. "We've been very hit or miss with our engine program, mostly miss. For whatever reason though, we hit everything spot on this week, and we're looking forward to a successful race day. Everything we do is building towards 2013, and a top 10 run would give us a little credibility to take with us going forward" Delgado added.
