Joe Craig started on pole with Alex Pausington surprisingly starting on his outside. Craig led for the first little bit while Pausington fell back, then Ryan Jefferies drove towards the front and snagged the lead away until the first caution.

Caution 1 flew on lap 7 when things got a little dicey between Damon Jones, Scott Whullen, and polesitter Joe Craig in the 29. Jones was in the middle of a 3-wide sandwich with Whullen on his outside and Craig behind Whullen, when Whullen got into the side of Jones and sent himself into the wall. Craig checked up coming out of two to pass Whullen who was wall-glued, when along came Kelly Blackwater who had none of that and turned Craig into the inside wall. Craig would continue on.

Caution 2 flew on lap 14 when Richard Dean MacGyver, driving in the top-10, hooks Alex Pausington, who was running on the outside at the time. Pausington slid into Chuck Johnson, who was running 6th at the time and looked set to transfer, which sent him careening into the outside wall. MacGyver slid down into Damon Jones, who was still running in the top-10, and Jones went careening into the inside wall and pancaked the side of that car. Johnson, MacGyver, and Pausington would all go sliding down the backstretch, but everyone avoided them. Johnson would be the only retirement from this wreck. Coming back to the caution, Greg Woodard hooks AJ Murphy, putting him into the outside wall as well as Andy Lambert in the 34.

The third and final caution would occur with just 9 laps to go when the leaders came across the lapped car of AJ Murphy. Ryan Jefferies, who had been up front all day pulled down trying to get around Murphy when Robert Nelson suddenly appeared. Nelson hooked Jefferies into the outside wall, who then slid down the track into the path of Dan Branch and Joe Craig. Piling in late were Alex Pausington and Sam Smith, driving for upstart team CircleTrack Racing. Pretty much all the cars involved would retire.

Kyle McWulla makes his first start since last year subbing for a recovering Andrew Tammerzan, JC Carpenter makes his first start since Cleveland last year driving a team car to Sam Smith, and Ben Worthington qualifies a 3rd Lucas Motorsports car, making this the first time that Lucas Motorsports has fielded and qualified 3 cars. Kelly Blackwater, who just fell out of the top-30, barely ekes her way into the main race.
