Aside from Bahrain and Abu Dhabi being on the schedule, it's actually a pretty decent schedule.flyingturns89 wrote:The F1 race in New Jersey is officially off for next year, as are Mexico and Korea. The only other changes are that Japan and Russia have switched spots, and Abu Dhabi will be the last race of the season.

Glad they have dropped they very useless races in Korea and India, replacing with Austria and (to a lesser extent) Russia!

When you have money involved like it supposedly was, you stay quiet. I do agree with you, I doubt that it happened, I just propose it as a possibility.RetrogradeRenegade wrote:I dunno, why wouldn't he?Milan655 wrote:Ah, yes, this is true but why would a driver openly admit something like this? INB4 New Jersey is on again. (Seeing a trend here lol)
Do not like Abu Dhabi being the last race...Brazil is leaps and bounds more entertaining (Hell i'd go as far to say it's almost tradition at this point)

This is silly. If they had adjusted the points system, then it would be fine yet with the one we have now there are some very big problems...1st place will score 50, 2nd will score 36-a 14 point difference!?
Amongst over rule changes, I applaud the introduction of a cost cap, will help Caterham and Marussia very greatly and stop Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes from producing too advanced technology.

Aside from the double points for the finale, I really like what 's being done. The cost cap should also be applied to every other racing series too instead of having just every little thing in spec and think the racing will be better.

INB4 F1 adopts Nascar chase style races!
They might as well start putting little power ups and weapons around the track for the drivers to use and have a little guy on a cloud reset the car when they crash.

Sergio Perez will join Nico Hulkenberg at Force India for 2014, meaning that it could be likely that Paul Di Resta may not remain in F1 next year.

They tried something similar with F1 Race Stars. It worked, somewhat.

Unless you were painfully unlucky as Gabriele Tarquini was in Formula One to be stuck in cars which could not qualify even with Schumacher at the wheel, the BTCC is too far down the ladder for an F1 driver. The BTCC has lost it's internationality since the end of Super Touring, now it's a proper British championship. Perhaps DTM or WTCC, yet unfortunately he may well end up following Dario's steps.

Di Resta not in F1 anymore?
One word...
Meh.
Losing Sutil kinda sucks, though. He could win races in the right car. Still, happy to see Sergio Perez still on the grid. Jake Humphrey says that Force India now have the third-strongest driver lineup in F1, behind Ferrari and Mercedes. I would rate it Top 5, but not third-strongest.

Felipe Massa is the first driver to announce what number he will race with next season via Twitter.
It's 19.

Re: 2014 Formula One World Championship - The teams and drivers of next season
I have some more information on the new number policy.
Felipe Massa did release a picture of his helmet with the #19 on it, which means he could be the first to officially announce his number. However, if someone else picks #19, priority would go to the driver higher in points, which was explained. In case of such scenarios, the FIA has contacted each driver and asked them for three numbers they would like, in order from most wanted to least. Nico Rosberg has said that he requested #6, then #5, then #9 for his number. Sergio Perez also said that his choice is #11.
In addition to the new number allocation process, numbers must now be displayed not only on the front of the car, but on the drivers helmet as well.

Re: 2014 Formula One World Championship - The teams and drivers of next season
Not sure what the exact reason is, even though I could think of about a dozen, but it sounds like 18 year old Sergey Sirotkin, who was supposed to be driving for Sauber next to Adrian Sutil in 2014, is no longer going to be running next year. I'm thinking most likely he didn't get his superlicense in time, but he is very inexperienced, so that could be it too.

If this information is true-this is the first I have heard of this-then it will almost certainly be due to superlicense, with the team earlier stating the only chance he cannot compete for Sauber is under the circumstance that he failed to secure the required license. And it's understandable that he has failed to secure it; the qualifications being that you must have started a certain amount of races in an International A championship (i.e. FIA F3, GP2, GP3, FR3.5, AutoGP) which he would have achieved, but also to have been a front runner in any of these series-an achievement which has not obtained.
In any case, thank god

Sounds like Pirelli haven't got themselves sorted out, as Rosberg suffered a 200mph Tire Failure during a Test run in Bahrain.

How many racers are ready in any series to race in a top level series at 19?!? Even Kyle Busch had all sorts of trouble in his rookie year at the NASCAR Cup level at 19 years old despite winning 2 races. Give the kid some practice time, and maybe next year, he'll be ready to race a F1 car

Re: 2014 Formula One World Championship - The teams and drivers of next season
Lotus will not be appearing at Jerez for the first of the three pre-season tests. Some suggestions commented that their was to appear only in Bahrain for the second and third tests where the temperatures are much more comparable to that of the actual conditions experienced throughout the motorsport calendar, with winter Jerez being significantly cooler than the typical temperatures of the mid-season European rounds.
However, that is complete horseradish. Any tracktime, preferable conditions or not, is experience most importantly with the new 2014 turbos and nose regulations. It appears Lotus are much further off development than any other team, clearly PDVSA really were needed to give the team somewhat of a boost financially.
I reckon the team will eventually find a suitable financial backer; the team was battling with Ferrari and Red Bull at the front last season, definitely not on terms with the likes of Williams also searching for economical relief.
Also, only 3 teams so far have officially confirmed their 2014 car unveilings; McLaren on the 24th; Mercedes and Caterham on the 28th.

Re: 2014 Formula One World Championship - The teams and drivers of next season
We have got an official car number list for the drivers this season. All but three drivers have a number confirmed, Max Chilton and whoever end up in the Caterhams are still TBA. Otherwise, here is the list.
#1 Sebastian Vettel (Car #1 is reserved for the champion still, Vettel will run the #5 when he is no longer the defending champion.)
#3 Daniel Ricciardo
#6 Nico Rosberg
