The International Race of Rejects (IROR) (ENTRIES CLOSED)
Approved by Cynon
On December 5th at Daytona International Raceway, 42 of the world's "greatest" failures in the racing world will embark on a 65 mile shootout under the lights to determine the best of the worst. An ensemble of NASCAR, Indycar and F1 backmarkers, moving chicanes and one-offs, the race is sure to be a thriller in all respects.
Pick TWO drivers (First come, first serve). It's that simple. Everyone will drive an identical Pontiac Firebird from the IROC series, to ensure an equal amount of fail throughout the field.

Where's Andrea De Cheseris (SP?) and Super Maldanado Kart?
I think De Cheseris was more of a reject than Gachot...

I knew there would be some heated discussion over the various choices but luckily I took the liberty of doing a lot of research beforehand.
Oh, de Crasheris. One of the people whom I collaborated the closest with when making the field was none other than Cynon. One driver of notable discussion between the two of us was de Cesaris. I was actually the one who suggested his inclusion on the list, lol. Yes, he was a weapon in his early days. In 1981, Mclaren parked him at Zandvoort after qualifying 13th because the mechanics went on strike. They were scared that he was going to wreck another car. Then in 1985 he was fired from Ligier when he barrel rolled at the Österreichring and lied to the team saying that he stalled (they hadn't yet seen the wreck)? Guy Ligier then blew a fuse when he saw the wreck and admitted that he couldn't keep paying for de Cesaris's repair bills. And then there were his antics as a moving chicane (see Imola in 1990 where he nearly takes out Mansell and James Hunt calls him "an idiot").
However, we gave Andrea a reprieve because of two reasons. One, there is no contesting that de Cesaris could not drive the wheels off of an F1 car. When he went to Alfa Romeo in 1982, when the car wasn't grenading he was actually fast. For the two years he was there, he practically carried the team despite a few gaffes in 1982. Yes, he was a crasher but he was at least somewhat capable as a driver in terms of speed. Second, he really made a comeback in his later years especially at Jordan. He downright spanked Gachot and was generally on pace with the Bennetons. Then in 92', he put in some very good drives in a mediocre Tyrell chassis. So yes, de Cesaris wasn't a total failure.
Maldonado is a lot like de Cesaris. Yeah, he drives with his head up his ass but when he has his stuff together, he's mad quick. Look at how well he's qualified in a relatively midfield Williams. Then there's the drive at Barcelona which was magnificent in all respects. A tool, but a fast driver.
Gachot was just lulzy. Did well in British F3000 but couldn't back it up at the international level. You could make the case that he didn't have the equipment for his first few years but when he went to Jordan, he was spanked by de Cesaris. If that wasn't enough, then there was the taxi altercation where he was arrested for tear gassing the driver (in self defense, but didn't have the common sense to realize that tear gas was illegal in Britain). His final years at Pacific were utter fail as he usually was found smashing the car into a tire barrier or becoming beached in a gravel trap. Had the opportunity but threw it away.

I don't see how winning 20 World of Outlaws Sprint Car championships makes Steve Kinser a fail driver.

Gachot
Deletraz
I really wanted super-team Argentina with, Noberto Fontana and Estaban Tuero, but they arn't up on the list. They (Especially Tuero) makes Gachot look like Vettel.

I'm surprised at Gachot, I always considered him a good driver that had little luck
