ESPN
Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
I'll bet its just ESPN going stupid just because Roger Penske joked about it like the Associated Press did. At best, it supposedly is just an offer. Tony hasn't even commented on it.
Edit: Let me guess, its basically a copy pasta of this, isn't it?

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
So instead of trying to win a Indycar title, he's going to and make a guy who might not even fit into the car try and race 1 100 miles in one day.
If he's trying to find a driver to generate publicity (which by the sounds of it is what he's doing), then I can easily think of one driver that Penske can use.

Tony's one ambition that he hasn't done is win the 500. I would not be shocked if he takes the offer.
Nelson — I really hope somebody gives Zanardi a shot. The man is a hero, and an inspiration for anyone who has a disability or amputation. Heck, he's inspirational to anyone! Penske or Ganassi or Andretti should stick Alex in a car. Imagine what would happen if he won...

I didn't think it was still practical to attempt the double. Did the start time for the 600 change?

I myself still believe that the Coca Cola 600 should be a Monday night race so the double is a lot more doable. Just my opinion though.

If someone is to offer him a seat, it will be either KV Racing (Vasser is a good friend of Alex) or Ganassi (the team he drove for and the team which Mo Nunn works at, another close friend of Alex)

But I bet other drivers would do the same thing if they drove for Lotus.

She must drive a Lotus every week then because she seems to bitch and moan every race about her car.

More truck news, as Joe Denette Motorsports will merge with NTS Motorsports, to form a three truck team. Ron Hornaday will remain as driver of the #9 truck, and Brennan Newberry remains in the #14. A third truck will be added as well, the #24 truck, with an unknown driver. Kevin Harvick, however, will run the #24 truck at both Martinsville Truck Series races.
Oh, and Steve Wallace threw a hammer at Kyle Busch at the Snowball Derby. No, I'm not kidding.

Was not on Jayski, but probably will be soon. Robby Gordon is expected to be approved to run the Dakar Rally this year, according to Dakar's website. Gordon's official approval will come in a few days, after some initial checks of his vehicle. The 2013 Dakar Rally will run from January 5-20.

In a way, I can't say I'm surprised. With Elliot gone and taking alot of sponsorship with him to JGR, they had to get someone to replace all that and seeing as Brian Scott and Shore Lodge are an inseperable pair, it was likely a no brainer.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
So far in Cup there are twenty teams that have "launched" meaning they have a confirmed driver, sponsor, and have unveiled their car
Earnhardt / Ganassi Racing - 1 - Jamie McMurry
Earnhardt / Ganassi Racing - 42 - Juan Pablo Montoya
Team Penske - 2 - Brad Keselowski
Team Penske - 22 - Joey Logano
Hendrick Motorsports - 5 - Kasey Kahne
Hendrick Motorsports - 24 - Jeff Gordon
Hendrick Motorsports - 48 - Jimmie Johnson
Hendrick Motorsports - 88 - Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Richard Petty Motorsports - 9 - Marcos Ambrose
Stewart Haas Racing - 10 - Danica Patrick
Stewart Haas Racing - 14 - Tony Stewart
Stewart Haas Racing - 39 - Ryan Newman
Michael Waltrip Racing - 15 - Clint Bowyer
Michael Waltrip Racing - 56 - Martin Truex Jr.
Roush Fenway Racing - 16 - Greg Biffle
Roush Fenway Racing - 17 - Matt Kenseth
Roush Fenway Racing - 99 - Carl Edwards
Joe Gibbs Racing - 20 - Matt Kenseth
Richard Childress Racing - 29 - Kevin Harvick
Richard Childress Racing - 31 - Jeff Burton
That's twenty cars. You also have the not confirmed but for sure full season entries that haven't launched yet
Richard Childress Racing - 27 - Paul Menard
Joe Gibbs Racing - 11 - Denny Hamlin
Joe Gibbs Racing - 18 - Kyle Busch
Richard Petty Motorsports - 43 - Aric Almirola
Furniture Row Racing - 78 - Kurt Busch
JTG Racing - 47 - Bobby Labonte
Michael Waltrip Racing - 55 - rotation
Germain Racing - 13 - Casey Mears
That's twenty eight. The rest of the field follows:
Inception is under new ownership and will return with David Stremme.
Front Row has said nothing about their plans. It is unknown if Ragan or Gilliland will return or if the team will return at all.
Baldwin Racing hasn't talked about their plans.
Burger King Racing is believed to return with two cars, but one will be the #23.
FASlane will, I would expect, continue with their M.O. of either starting and parking or running a pay driver for the full race.
XXXtream, MaxQ, TriStar, HP Racing, and Hamilton Means have not said anything about 2013.
Robinson Blackney shut down and is for sale. Not sure if America Israeli will try to buy sponsorship on another team or if it will disappear to.
I would say that we are looking at about 35 cars for the full year.
By the way, Bayne and the Wood Brothers will run Daytona.

Some ARCA news that has come out recently, it appears more teams are running out of money, as Chad Hackenbracht's team can't run anymore, and Darrell Basham's team will most likely run only short tracks.

I have a feeling this may lead to more Start 'N' Parkers.

Re: The Jayski Copypasta Thread
Well ARCA doesn't pay very well, and equipment is running low, so I don't think it's a surprise, especially Basham, because his last two race shops and a lot of his equipment have been destroyed, one by a fire, and one by a tornado. Plus several teams don't have major sponsors, so what hey make in the races is what they get for the day, minus all the expenses like tires and work pay. ARCA has not released the amount of money drivers make since 2005, but in 2005, Frank Kimmel ran all 23 races, had 8 wins and 20 top 10s, and won the championship, but made only $421,921 in race winnings for the year. Everyone else made less than $300,000 for the year.

Sparkz's Prediction: ARCA, as an organization, will go under within ten years. And that's being generous; they'll be lucky to make five.

The thing is with ARCA that when RE/MAX left as a sponsor, Menards only came aboard as presenting sponsor, and the purses took a huge cut. Hence more financial troubles among teams.

With the news today and the how competition has flat out dropped in the series with exception being the big teams...I think it will be a surprise if they make it past 2015.Sparkz47 wrote:Sparkz's Prediction: ARCA, as an organization, will go under within ten years. Two things are killing the series
1.) the Economy
2.) The lack of COY Cars, seriously the series could possibly afford to change to COT in the next two years, now that NASCAR is goin to a different body style. I mean NORM FREAKING BENNING could afford one!
why couldn't half the garage?

Ah, but that would be very expensive, and most of the people who believe in bigfoot, are broke.Mother of Invention wrote:2.) You know, I'm not joking but my heart will break if ARCA were to shut down all together. That Series is one step for young drivers to get up to the top racing levels of NASCAR, and they wouldn't race if it weren't for ARCA.

If it were to shut down, it would probably be revived in one way or another at some point. And if not, we would still have the K&N Pro Series or the Modifieds for new drivers.
