Re: Race 01: Round of Las Vegas
- Spoiler:
- Camphausen glad to finish solidly in the points
Blake Camphausen, who was making just his second TM Master Cup Series Start, and his first for Team Saar USA on an oval, placed 13th overall in the season opener at Las Vegas. "The team worked really hard, this is the first time I ran on this track and believe me, it is fun to drive. We may have place unlucky 13 here today, last of the lead lap cars, but that is nothing to be upset about. This whole team busted their butts this off season to make sure Kevin and I have the best chance possible to win the title. We may not have run up front or mixed it up for the win, but we kept our noses clean and stayed on the lead lap. We got bit there with a tire puncture but I kept my cool and made sure to not tear the thing up and just pit. Congrats to Adrian on his win, well deserved." Said Camphausen as he climbed from his car, recording his second point finish ever.

- Spoiler:
- Steudler Pleased with points finish
After getting caught in the pits when the caution flag went out, Scott Steudler was able to recover, and score a 16th place finish.
"The early run in the race was really just to get a feel of how these new cars handle. When you are towards the front, these are a breeze to handle, but towards the back, they were some trouble, but nothing that I can't handle. We will just learn how to handle these cars in traffic on the high speed tracks as the season goes on. Towards the end, I had a car that could obviously run with the leaders, so once we get some luck our way, I think we should give the field something to think about."
Steudler scored 8 points for his 16th place finish.

- Spoiler:
- Delgado Proud of Kazeyama, Says Comeback is On Schedule
Tom Delgado was on top of the #18 pitbox watching the race and saw Azuma Kazeyama insert himself into contention for the win on the white flag lap. He also saw the car blow up, dashing any chance of a Nemoto victory for the second straight year at Las Vegas. Delgado's reaction was simply to shake his head, take off his headset, and get off the box.
"If the car hadn't given up, I think Zuzu could have won it" Delgado said of Kazeyama's run. "He was patient and stayed out of trouble, and showed his skill out there. Lady Luck just wasn't on our side" Delgado added. "Lady Luck may not have been on our side at the track, but I'll fix that when we go to the casino afterwards. I think Zuzu should be rewarded for a good effort out there today, and I plan on doing so personally" Delgado added, hinting that he may drag Kazeyama to the casinos on the strip later tonight.
Tom Delgado is currently recovering from a heart attack suffered in January of this year, but the prognosis for a full recovery is very good and should be back in his #37 Five Guys Burgers & Fries Nemoto in a few weeks. His plan for now is to go back east and run small races with his MRD Motorsports team to get himself back in race shape.

- Lareau in the points in Master Cup debut
In the team's first attempt in the series, Afterburner Motorsports celebrates after finishing in the points. Brandon Lareau was caught off guard by a caution and lost a lap. Despite that however, Lareau worked his way to a 19th place finish. "I can't wait to do this again!" said Lareau on his team radio after taking the checkered.

Devereux Scores Perfect 70
Frenchman Adrien Devereux sent a clear message to his rivals after a decisive victory in the Round of Las Vegas, leading 54 of the 140 laps. During the podium celebrations, Devereux explained that he had not run an engine using its full capability.
"We tuned it down so it wouldn't blow up. I could have run harder than I did out there, but I just kept it clean and tried to stay out of trouble. It's easy to cause trouble on a big track like this." he said.
"It's a shame Luciano [Soveral] got damage from the first crash, otherwise he would probably have been there with us, he was faster in practice."
Devereux's run to the checkered was not as smooth as it sounded. A run-in with Power Steering Incorporated driver Anthony Griffith during green flag pit stops left the Frenchman fuming on his radio, and his post-race interview indicated little remorse.
"Cars on the left are supposed to make way in the pitlane. That's what the drivers meeting said, so he has no reason to complain. If he isn't hit with a penalty I would like that decision appealed."

- Spoiler:
- Madrigal: The Indenpendents trophy is our goal.
While not a stranger to TM Master Cup entirely, it was clear that for a new driver he has already gotten the hang of driving two entirely new sets of cars.
"It's a bit heavier than the ARLA cars for one but this new body style fits my driving style a lot better than the old car did, we could've gone higher up but we were shuffled a bit around in the last laps. Now that we have a idea of our footing, we can give M&J a Indenpendents Trophy to go along with their ARLA trophies back at the shop."
Regarding the incident that brought out the first yellow, Madrigal had a strong response.
"Spotter told me to ease up upon entry when we were behind the #777...I didn't see that I was still to high up and then [Marcos] Leonard got into the side of me..in hindsight that was something that was easily preventable on our part."
Madrigal's next race is Carbondale, his goal: Sweep both the ARLA and Master Cup race victories.
Kazeyama gutted after a denied podium finish
Two turns, and a straightaway.
Thats how short the Engine of the #18 Nemoto Respetto ran to the finish, turning a Sure Podium run, a run that possibly could've seen victory down into 14th place, the first car one lap down. In radio transmission Kazeyama was heard swearing in Japanese, the engine obviously failing at the worst time, seen throwing the wheel against the dashboard, Kazeyama climbed out of the car disgusted.
"We. Had. The. Car." was his immediate reply.
"It's hard, I feel dejected I do. [Tom] Delgado was a big help in helping me understand the strengths of the new car, it almost payed off as well. We were there all day, just waiting for the right moment to push up front. We had the moment, we had the opportunity and then the engine breaks. Is it frustrating?: you're damn right it is, but thats the way luck can be sometimes."
While dejected, he then continued, saying that it wasn't a complete failure.
"I'll be honest, it was still a amazing run. My goal was different from Tom's. He wanted a win in the first three starts, I simply wanted to redeem myself. I started that last year with my drive at Tutino, and today I continued to show that. The days of "Crash-and-Drama" are done, and now we're heading off to Georga where this time hopefully we can be at the front and the car lasts."

- Matthews "disappointed" after DNF:
"That wasn't the debut I had in mind."
Those were the first words Ryan Matthews had for reporters after exiting his crippled Gasnier Spahi, its engine having expired mid-way through the season-opening Round of Las Vegas.
"We didn't have the best starting position, so I was just trying to pick my way through the field," he said. "I think I got up to mid-field, and was really happy with the car, and then...pfft...the engine quits. I was just so disappointed. I really hoped I'd have had a better debut for Majestic Motorsports than this, but hey, that's racing."
Matthews next prepares for Road Atlanta.

Re: Race 01: Round of Las Vegas
Wow. Not even a lap complete for Kraig. Still not as bad as having the engine blow leaving the grid for the CRL race at Grand Detour in 2009, and not even taking the green flag for a DNS, though.
