RROL Round 2 of Las Vegas Thread
Race A
RROL announces double-header Grid Format
RROL COO Mark Hamilton announced how the fields would be set for the two races each weekend. Here is the breakdown
1. The winners in both races will be placed in separate races (Example: The winner of round A the previous race, will be in round A for the next race)
2.The 2nd place finishers in both races will be placed in the opposite race. (Meaning if you place 2nd in Round A, you will be in Round B for race 2)
3. From 3rd on down, all odd numbered finishers will be placed in round A, while the even numbered finishers will participate in Round B.
Lycoia's dominate, first practice
*Transcript from a notable racing news show*
In first practice on Friday, the top 5 fastest cars were all Lycoia’s. With last weeks winner Michael More Jr. Being the fastest, the most surprising thing though is that the gap in between the Lycoia's and the other makes is quite large. Now no team that we know of is bringing anything up, however, I believe if the Lycoia's speed continues, we may start to see teams protest. But as of now, everyone seems to have their mouth's shut.

Whitt Finishes Daytona, Looks to Improve at Las Vegas
After a somewhat lackluster start at Daytona, Alex Whitt says that the 44 car should improve over the course of the season if they just take it one race at a time.
"We didn't finish as well as we wanted at Daytona," Whitt said during practice at Las Vegas, "but we finished; we avoided the wrecks, we drove smart, we had some pretty good calls on pit road with few mistakes, so you could say we had a lot of positives at Daytona. But we finished two laps down. I think our aero package could be better at the super speedways, but we'll see how everything goes. We gotta focus on the task at hand and take it one race at a time."
Whitt declined to comment on the dominance of the Lycoias, but was overheard saying "something wasn't right" about them to his crew chief Thomas Justice. What he meant by that is up for speculation, and we'll leave that up to the fans. With luck Whitt will end up in a non Lycoia heat for Las Vegas and finish in the points.

ChargerTec Not Confident About Beating Lycoias
ChargerTec Racing's ASCC driver and part-owner Joe Olenick stated that although the team is "squeezing as much power as they can afford" out of their Juneau AMX-5's, he's not confident the team can beat the Lycoia teams.
"Frankly, they're making us all look stupid out there. I don't want to think that they're doing anything illegal, but that's for the series officials to decide. We're going to do everything we can to beat them."
Jess Zander, driver of the #34 MHL car, did not have a great practice session, and has questioned the legality of the Lycoia, albeit sarcastically. She later clarified her comments, stating "I personally don't care. If they're doing something illegal - which, honestly, why would you bother in the RROL? - it's going to be that much sweeter when we catch up to them. I'm concerned with my team and my team only."

Terra International Motorsports deny any wrong doing with Lycoia
"Look, our team is the factory team for pete's sake, if another team using Lycoias is blasting us, it's not because our cars are being set up to be better on purpose. We just have a good speedway and superspeedway package." TIM spokesman, Stephen Hawkson, told reporters. "This was proven at Indianapolis in 2011. We didn't cheat then, nor would anyone using Lycoia cheat now or ever."

Clason Enterprises owner Tanner Clason believes his cars can beat Lycoia
"I don't care what kind of drama the reporters are trying to stir up, I think that our two Inglesby Flashbacks can and WILL beat Lycoia. Allison and Wade are just gonna have to go out there and drive their hearts out." Clason said in an interview after first practice for the Round of Las Vegas.

The Lycoia's Dominate Second, and First Saturday Practice
Let the peanut gallery swirl, the Lycoia manufactured cars swept the top 5 in Second practice. This caused for considerable uproar from the non-Lycoia cars. Most notably, Arrow Dynamic's Team Principal, Sulinder Pushanda. These complaints were only intensified when the Lycoia's swept four of the top five spots in Saturday's practice, the only non-Lycoia to make it was 4th place Gerald Johnson. However they weren’t as dominate as the day before, because Collin Evans, in his Lenard R37 was close to breaking into the top 5.

Where's The Speed?
Where's The Beef Motorsports is asking "Where's the speed?" "We keep hearing how fast the Lycoia's have been at Daytona and Vegas. Well, we're running Lycoias too but we haven't seen any of that speed yet. Finishing 22nd and 23rd at Daytona doesn't harken too well for us at Vegas either. We were sssssssslllllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwwww there. The best thing we can say is that we kept our cars out of any incidents and out of the way of the leaders so that we didn't affect the outcome of the race. We also think what Stephen Hawkson said about anyone using Lycoias not cheating now or ever is a load of crap. We'll go on record right now to say that we'll cheat at every opportunity that presents itself if it'll help us win."

Warner claims mass sabotage at Daytona
Driver Klaus Warner has stated that he believes that several cars had been sabataged at Daytona, Warner says " I lost a cylinder right at the start, and from what i hear there were a couple other teams with the same issue, it makes you kind of wonder who would do that. I have heard some wildly different rumors too. Like it was a disgruntled former RROL employee, or a Lycoia, fan trying to sabotage the race. But oh well, I think that he won't show up this week thank gawd.

Total Control Racing hoping to turn luck around
Total Control Racing is hoping to turn their luck around after a dreadful start to their 2012 RROL Campaign. Both of their driver Greg Phillips and Ryan Wade were well off the pace and to add insult to injury, Phillips dropped out of the race due to reliability. Team boss Liam Warren said,"We are now hoping that our cars will ne on the pace here. Daytona was not what we wanted but hopefully we can rack up some points at Las Vegas."

Matthews: "No concern" about Lycoias:
Speaking during a conference call from Karjala Raceway, Matthews Motorsports owner Ryan Matthews addressed a number of topics, including the upcoming Round of Las Vegas.
"We're not concerned about the Lycoia bunch," he said. "They've got a great operation over there for being such a small organization."
"We just need to make sure we don't take our eye off what we're doing. I think we'll be fine."

Cardillo: No Worries
Marco Cardillo did not show any concerns about having to beat the extremely fast Lycoias this season. He showed at Daytona that he could run with them, but got caught on the high line late and fell to 9th. He comes into Las Vegas confident that he can get a solid result.
"We had good day in the Daytona last time. I am very confidence about good result here in the Vegas. We keep up with them at the Daytona, yes? We keep up with them here in the Las Vegas!" Cardillo said in very broken English.

Both Your car and Barney's, just lost the pack. Not due to ratings. If anything, your car got slowed up by the leaders.

I think it may have been the race start that caused it, too many cars bunched up an several of them had to check up.

"We might have just killed 2 drivers out there, and I don't want my driver out there tomarrow. In all honesty, I don't belive they will run the rest of this race or on Monday. If they do, the stewards are dumber than I thought." Pushanda co-owns Arrow Dynamic's with his brother Vijay.

This is what Ryan Wade said in an interview during the red flag period after the crash that involved his team mate Grep Phillips, "I just don't know what to say. After watching the replays, I felt completely inconsolable. It really reminded me of Scott Hamilton's fatal crash in Brazil last year. The team is now going through difficult times in hoping that he will survive, so we are thinking good thought's here right now."

When asked for comment during the second red flag period of the RROL Round of Las Vegas, both of ChargerTec Racing's drivers admitted reluctance to get back into the cars.
Zander: There are five drivers in the hospital, two of whom might be dead. Race control isn't telling us anything, and I frankly don't like the idea of climbing back into these cars while two drivers fight for their lives.
LaVerne refused to comment beyond Zander's statement.
ChargerTec Team Boss Frank Stafford stated that the team would "absolutely not continue" the race until the conditions of all drivers is known.

Bill Calhoun, who will race in the 2012 ASCC season, was watching the RROL Elite Series Round of Las Vegas from the infield, in the vincity of the horrifying crash involving Allyson Weatherbee, Greg Phillips, and Iris Mellado.
"It was... like nothing i've ever seen... just a horrible crash... i hope the best for those drivers and i'm trying to to think happy thoughts right now, Because that crash... was simply disturbing."

- More Jr. offers prays for drivers in serious condition; but says he will race if the race is restart
Shortly after the red flag came out and drivers were allowed to climb from their cars, Michael More Jr. who leads the points coming into Las Vegas, shared his thoughts with reporters.
"It's sad, you know? The racing was so great at Daytona and even throughout the first round here. And I know how those drivers families must be feeling. I nearly lost my life in an open wheel crash at Indy about 9 years ago."
However, More Jr. was quick to respond to the question should the event by cancelled.
"Come on now. We are race car drivers running in a highly competitive series. We risk our lives every time we go on the race track. But, we still do it. I know I was once called crazy by someone who I told I was a race car driver. Racing has its good days and its bad days and unfortunately I think this might be one of those bad days."
After his comments, More Jr. was seen talking with his uncle (and part owner) Jim More and M&D's other owner Ike Durbin.

That first wreck was 100% Tomzak's fault, he clearly came down on the 291.

Not what I see, I saw the 291 come up into the 26. Mind you, they had started making contact in the center of one and two.

Re: RROL Round 2 of Las Vegas Thread
- Spoiler:
- Jones will continue race & Marshall & Bracchi will race on Monday
Jones: 'My thoughts go to the drivers injured & I hope they are okay but we all know the risks of this sport & we don't want terrible crashes like that to happen to us but if it happens, it happens. We don't want it to, but we run the risk of it happening every time we step into a race car. We can't control everything out there but what we can control shouldn't end up like those wrecks.'
Marshall & Bracchi didn't comment because they didn't see what happened but Jones had some choice words for Hill, as he was involved in starting both of those wrecks.

(OOC: Great job over-glorifying simple wrecks, I bet all those drivers are fine and your just ESPNing it up)
Farr: Azure, and Mellado welcome to join me Monday
Alexis Farr stated on her fan page, that she has invited Nic Azure and Iris Mellado to her pitbox to watch the end of the race, she also has said that she hopes Dale Hill gets shot by a TranqGun before the start of the race. She also went on to criticize the TV coverage saying that on the replay of the broadcast didn't show any of the drivers get out of there cars, when they clearly did, thinking it might add to there ratings or some bull****.

I hope everyone realizes that these wrecks took place at upward of around 185 MPH. So why does everyone think people would walk away from these wrecks? I actually am quite interested to know.

No it's not that, I have quickly grown frustrated running this... I feel as if I put everything into a race/video, it's not good enough. But really I just am interested though, because I saw two very violent crashes in that race. But apperently I am crazy!

Re: RROL Round 2 of Las Vegas Thread
With permission from f1fan, I'm gonna re-run this race weekend. The races may not be up for a couple weeks though, as I'm leaving Saturday Night-Sunday Morning for a week, vacation. If I can get them up before I leave, then so be it. If not, so be it.
**EDIT: PENNST24 WILL BE RUNNING THIS RACE, SINCE I WILL BE GONE**

Two Words: Hans Devices.
Also I am pretty sure Azure got hit in the right front, not the drivers door.
And I didn't even see Iris Mellado's roof collapse.
So yeah only really the #84 and #38 should be worried about. :/

I belive I said Mellado's was minor, or maybe Moderate Injury risk. Nothing life threatining. Azure got hit between the Left front and the number. So maybe he should be lowered. With that said, the 38 had the worst hit out there. The 84 was a hard one, but not as hard, so that is a moderate injury risk.

...safety equipment?
...and because they do in real life?
Unless the RROL doesn't require HANS devices or roll cages or seat belts and whatnot.
And no, the Tuttle Monaco is not an R&D car.
