I reckon that this is the best picture I have ever seen.
Aboard USS CONSTELLATION (April 19, 1999) -- On the flight deck of the USS Constellation (CV 64) "Dan Gurney's All American Racers" with driver Alex Barron and Constellation crewmembers prepare the Indy car for a simulated launch from catapult 2. This performance was filmed for a Navy recruiting promotion spot to be aired during the "Indy 500" Memorial Day weekend. (U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Timothy C. Ward) (RELEASED).

It seems that the 2015 Dakar Rally has not gone well for our friend Robby Gordon. He encountered a brake fire in stage two, from which this video was taken, and he is currently over four hours off of the lead.

I must not have ever seen the race in which this car took to the track, for I don't remember seeing this paint scheme before...
and I'm sure that I would have remembered it if I did!

For a Wayne Peterson car I really don't think these cars are that bad, but it's Wayne Peterson, so it's bad by itself. People on TeamSpeak know how much I love Peterson Motorsports.

The 2003 Winston Cup Series at Michigan; there's no way that I'd ever forget watching this accident. I remember fearing for the life of Bodine, Wallace, and the cameraman in turn 2 (being five years old and not knowing that the flyby camera's are not operated manually).BWardboy88 wrote:Never seen any pictures of this crash before until now.

Never saw that angle of the Waltrip flip, and I keep forgetting that there was other people involved in that accident.

Agreed. All of those pictures (especially the above three) look like they were taken straight from a post-apocalyptic Hollywood set.
It's awing in a rather saddening way to see such a grand venue left to decay as it is.

22 years ago we lost Alan Kulwicki, who could possibly be not only one of the greatest champions in Nascar history, but one of motorsports greatest underdogs.
May this man rest in peace.

Something to do if you're bored - check out the starting grid and figure out who the drivers are that are starting this race. In a 33-car field, I've only ever heard of 5 of them.

I've never seen that race before, but what a crazy finish! Yet another example of an exciting stock car race produced by The Glen.

Here's a picture of some racing last week at the Waterford Hills Road Raceway, where my girlfriend took to the track to compete with the other racers.
- But it's not the type of racing that you're used to seeing on a circuit built for automobiles!:

Just lapping the track, it was an event organized by her biking club. She thought that it was really fun!Milan655 wrote:That's interesting, so the Tour de Waterford Hills? Or just lapping the track for charity?
I, myself, may be participating in the next bike there in the coming weeks (it's free for anyone under 18 years of age, so if I can borrow a road bike then I've got just enough time to do so)! I've been to Waterford Hills as a spectator before but have never been on the track.

Re: Racing Video/Picture Thread
I found these very interesting photos of a custom-made model of a fictitious 1999 Chrysler Concord for NASCAR competition, made by the very talented Sven Svendsen prior to Chrysler's announcement that they would be returning to the sport in 2001 with Dodge.
The explanation as to how the model was made was very interesting, as are his other works. Here's the link to the page on this car: http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/petty1page.html

Video from Lewis Hamilton's first F3 race in 2003, where he was knocked unconscious after an accident with the ever-present back marker, Tor Graves. Also interesting to see is EJ Viso pulling a Schumacher-Hill 1994 on Steven Kane to claim the scholarship championship.
