The Video Game Thread
Welcome, fellow gamers, during the week I saw that EFR had no video game thread. So I decided to make one. (Since pretty much everyone here is a gamer ).
- Talks about video games you've played or are playing (Reviews are encouraged)
- Talk about games you think of buying
- Talk about the best gaming moments of your life
- Talk about the worst games, etc...
- PLEASE! Try your hardest to not spoil a game's ending or plot twist. (If everyone doesn't care about spoilers, well chat away)

If my avatar of Elizabeth from this game and what I said on the twitter thread doesn't say enough, I've recently been playing and completed Bioshock Infinite... and I'm rather fond of it. So fond I think I found my new favourite game of all time...

I played Bioshock 2. I enjoyed it!
Re: The Video Game Thread
Even though I only seem to be playing Black Ops 2 lately, I consider myself more of a Halo fan. After playing both Halo 4 & Black Ops 2, I can safely say that Halo has a better campaign, but zombies mode in Black Ops 2 is great, as it has a lot more replay-ability. Of all the people who play Black Ops 2, was I the only one to find the Veteran campaign difficulty too easy for what it was? I completed it in 5-9 hours of gameplay. When my brother & I did the Halo 4 campaign on Legendary co-op, it took us roughly 12 hours of gameplay

I bought 2 games last week, NFS Hot Pursuit (which is incredible) & Max Payne 3 (which is decent), i could only choose 2, the odd one out was MLB 12 The show, which could of replaced my 09 version

Brought NASCAR 2011: The Game yesterday off the PSN store. So far not bad. Annoying thing though is this.
Medium difficulty: Qualify and finish 1st every race.
Hard: Qualify and finish last every race.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I am playing a lot of Galactic Civilizations II lately. It is a strategy based game where you are the leader of an alien race. And you can interact with other races, declare war on them, research stuff to make your race superior, seize their planets, trade with them, etc....

I loved GT5, i will still have my ps3 when it releases... but no mention of a ps4 release?
Re: The Video Game Thread
This actually surprises me, a lot of people would of thought that GT6 would be the flagship release for the PS4.Lucstar88 wrote:I loved GT5, i will still have my ps3 when it releases... but no mention of a ps4 release?

IIRC, GT2 came out about three months before the PS2 was released, GT4 was about a year and a half before the PS3 was relased. So in terms of consistency, PD are on the money. Test with the first console release, release a refined sequel using as much of the console's horsepower as possible near the end of the console generation.

Ladies and Gentlmen the new Xbox has been announced and it's name is...
Xbox One.
It's supposed to signify that it's a "All-in-One" console.

That's exactly what I was thinking
In other news, I'm sure some of you have heard, but NASCAR: The Game is coming out on Steam, supposedly with the Gen 6 carset. Don't think it is Inside Line, but basically a PC variation of it.

Am I the only one who actually kinda likes the way it looks?
Still going to be a crappy system though. I want my game consoles to play games, I don't need them to bake me a cake or iron my clothes or whatever it is they're trying to make this thing out to do.

The Xbone costs FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE GREAT BRITISH POUNDS. NO THANK YOU.
Also this.
EDIT: Alright, Sony have convinced me with all these exclusives. I'm buying a PS4.

I might get a PS4 when it becomes cheaper just for GT6 and maybe a few other things, but I'm probably sticking to PC for everything else.
Also, Xbox One is digging itself into a hole.

Re: The Video Game Thread
What I want to know is how much it will cost Sony to MAKE a PS4. It cost them nearly a grand to make a PS3 when it launched, and that was with the five hundred ninety-nine us dollar price tag. Lord knows how big of a loss they're going to make off of the PS4. Also with the video posted above, read the fine print.
But all that I do know, is that Sony has fired shots. And my wallet is cringing at Nintendo's conference(s) tomorrow.

I'm sorry, but I thought Bill Gates had enough money. Why does his company constantly ask for more? *takes a breath*, I haven't played a playstation console for a while, & think the xBox 360 is better than them, but if new games come out that I really want to play (apart from Halo. I'm not wasting $600 just to play ONE game on a console that will prevent me from using at least half it's features) then I might consider getting a PS4. At least Sony listens to the customers/gamers/whatever you wanna call them

I think it cost so much then because of the Blu-ray, which was not yet standard. Or affordable.RealRacingRoots wrote:What I want to know is how much it will cost Sony to MAKE a PS4. This pretty much sums up my opinions. It really sucks, cause I always liked XBOX Live better, but unless something drastic happens to change my mind, looks like I'm gonna get a PS4, for GT6 and KH3 if nothing else. As for the Playstation Plus thing, well I already pay for XBOX Live, so no change for me.

I hate to break it to you guys, but in typical GT tradition, but GT6 is coming out for PS3. Similar to how GT2 was released so close to the PS2 release.

Still, looks great. If the PS4 has backwards compatibility (idk) it will play GT6

While PS4 and Xbox One were battling it out, ol' Nintendo caught my attention more than either at the show this year because of may things including this:

^ I've got the game. I've never played the original Grid, so I'm not really sure what it was like, but I'm enjoying Grid 2. The handling's pretty arcadey, but it's also incredibly fun, so I really don't care too much about the realism. There's a good variety of cars and tracks and a pretty original story. The only thing about the game that really bugs me is the fact that the AI will ram you and push you no matter how cleanly you race them. I'm not sure if it's because they're overly aggressive or just oblivious, but it gets pretty annoying after a while. Other than that, though, it's great fun.

I've played it, and yeah, I'm not a fan of the drifting. It's okay with the less powerful cars, but things like the top tier cars are completely undriveable if they're a 'drift' car. Especially if it's a tight mountain road with no margin for error. Everything else is fine - the ramming is annoying, but since I'm pretty reckless in that game, I tend to wind up putting them in the wall before they get a chance to do it to me.
