If you use GIMP and you are tired of the sucky quality that effects .jpgs, well, I have some advice for you!

Save the template/picture as .png then use Microsoft Paint to convert it to .jpg with no visible loss of quality other than no transparency... but that's not an issue.

Crystal Clear flats for you to render! Instead of that blurry crap that you see once in a while.

Examples after Being Rendered:

The one with the chrome wheels was saved as a .jpeg/.jpg in Microsoft Paint
The one with the colored wheels was saved as a .jpge/.jpg in GIMP

Using GIMP and .jpeg/.jpg quality 5vq46
Using GIMP and .jpeg/.jpg quality PHpzu

Now you'll notice the clearer details on the chrome wheeled car. I have no idea why this is, but as I said, GIMP has a poorer .jpg quality system.

Can't the .jpg quality be adjusted in the Save As menu? I know other programs can do this but I'm not familiar with GIMP.

Yes, even if you set it up to where it will be of high quality, it'll still come out blurry as hell.
