Race 20: New York GP
Posting for Ben, who is probably having nightmares of faulty Visual Basic code as I write this.
- RYAN'S HEROES AND HEARTBREAK:
HERO #1: Cassie Collins, who capped off an historic season with an exclamation point. If she's not a title favorite for 2016, the oddsmakers are nuts.
HERO #2: Tom Delgado, who raced sick and finished second.
HEARTBREAK: Kellan Rogers-Ashby...bridesmaid for the second year in a row. Will 2016 be the charm, or will she be third-time unlucky?
- RYAN'S REJECTS OF THE RACE:
1. Matthews Performance, who really should know how to make a car not blow up in a big spot.
2. Stjepan Svetadic, who had a cruel introduction to karmic retribution.

- Delgado Signs Off In Style With 2nd Place Finish
It's the end of the line for racing's only four-division race winner, and if his performance today was any indication, he's retiring with a lot of pride. Tom Delgado started 2nd, and finished in that same spot. An emotional Delgado took his place on the second step of the podium with the American flag draped around him, getting some of the loudest cheers of the weekend not just from the crowd, but his colleagues as well.
"I would have loved to finish one spot higher, but if I had to be beat by someone, I'm happy it was Cassie (Collins). She did an incredible job to not just win the race, but win the Dash Cup championship" Delgado said after the podium celebrations. "It's been a hell of a ride, I've been so blessed to meet, befriend, and drive with so many wonderful people. Most importantly, I found my soulmate in this sport. Ashley (Tucker) kept me around at my lowest points, when everybody else said drop dead bum, and she kept me alive. If it isn't for her, I ain't here celebrating the end of my career" Delgado said between coughs & tears before heading into the paddock. With the track camera focused on the TDR area of the paddock, the crowd in the stands had not left and continued cheering, prompting Delgado to come out to tip his hat to the camera, and thus to the crowd, soaking in the cheers of his home crowd one last time in his driving career.
Delgado, 41, finishes a banner career with 2 TM Master Cup Series wins, 3 FARC Elite Series wins, 1 ASCC win as well as the 2014 ASCC Championship, and 1 Dash Cup win.

- Spoiler:
- Minor confrontation between Hannah Percy and JP Beaufort's crew occur in pitlane
There was a minor confrontation between the #1 and #13 crews in the aftermath of the New York Grand Prix after a couple of incidents on track between the two drivers. Around the halfway point, while going a lap down, JP Beaufort failed to yield for Hannah Percy, who was running towards the rear of the field. As a result, Percy put Beaufort in the wall exiting turn 2. Beaufort took a swipe back at Percy but failed to wreck her.
Later on in the race, Percy suffered from engine problems and was bringing her car into the pitlane when Beaufort put his car on the inside of Percy's, before eventually spinning her out, leaving her in the middle of the pits. Percy managed to get the car refired and out of the racing line safely before taking it to the pit lane. Percy allegedly make a gesture towards the #13 crew before pulling into the garage.
After the race had concluded, Percy walked over to Beaufort and spoke to him about the incidents. While tempers did not seem to boil over between the two, Percy's chief engineer, Johnny Robinson, was seen going after Marco Moretti, the chief engineer and owner of the #13 car before the two were split up by other crew members from the #63 and #02 crews. Other crew members began yelling towards each other, but there was no physical altercation, and Percy and Beaufort shook hands before going their own ways.
"It was nothing." said Beaufort, "She told me she wasn't happy with what happened and I told her the same. We both agreed to let it go and we moved on. There were no insults thrown from the drivers, only from our engineers. We're both civil and mature and we're both champions. We dealt with this with class."
"I obviously was pretty mad, but he admitted he shouldn't have spun me out and I admitted I didn't need to put him in the wall." said Percy, who finished third in points for the season, "Yeah, Johnny got a little upset but his temper is incredibly short. Me and JP were very calm though, and I know I made the right decision talking to him."
While JP Beaufort will hang up the helmet once again, Hannah Percy, the 2014 champion, will move onto Matthews Atlantic Motorsports for the 2016 season.
A Champion Is Crowned: Cassandra Collins becomes youngest Dash Cup Champion
It was a difficult season for Cassandra Collins, switching teams mid season and being involved in several controversial incidents, but in the end, it all paid off as she was crowned the 2015 Dash Cup Champion, notching 14 wins, 21 podiums and 7 poles in an incredible and record breaking season. Collins also becomes the winningest driver in Dash Cup history, being the first driver to ever break the 20 win mark.
Collins ran second to Rogers-Ashby, the bridesmaid for the second year in a row, for the majority of the race, but Rogers-Ashby cut a tire after contact with Sakura Motoko in pit lane. Rogers-Ashby's car eventually gave up with an engine failure, but Collins soldiered on, as she eventually went on to win the race.
"This is just... I don't... wow!" said an elated, and equally shocked Cassie Collins, "I can't really comprehend what's going on right now! I'm a Dash Cup champion! There's so many people to thank but I'm just so... so happy and excited and shocked! I wasn't even in the series 4 years ago and now I'm stood in New York being crowned a champion!"
"Hold on, I've got the most wins of anyone now? WOW! This is a really great day! Thank you to everyone. Ben [Atkins], you helped me get my season back on track, Kellan, you raced me clean all season, my dad, my mother, my sister. WE DID IT!!!! THE COLLINS FAMILY HAVE A TITLE!"
It's a big day for Collins, who was tearful in the championship circle, as she was in her first win at Oulton Park back in 2013. She will stay with Ben Atkins' operation for the 2016 season in hope of defending her title, as she will drive the #1 Cadbury's STS for the team.

- Post-Race Press Release:
- Fochesato Apologetic to Wallace Over Accident During New York GP
11 October 2015
Vincenzo Fochesato, the only representative of FIAM Engineering in the Dash Cup New York GP, was unable to end his rookie season on a high note on the streets of Manhattan. Midway through the race and while heading into the second-to-last-turn, Fochesato pulled to the left and cut off the #02 car of Harriet Wallace, turning himself across the Team Kwik Fit car's bumper and into the wall. Wallace ran into the right door of the #75 and received minimal damage, while Fochesato received heavy damage and took to the pits seconds later for repairs.
The Italian would rejoin the race and continue to the finish with no further incidents. As a result of the time spent repairing the damage inflicted upon his FIAM CinqueTC, he would fail to score any points.
Disappointed over the incident yet still upbeat, Fochesato spoke to reporters after the conclusion of the race, saying; “Overall, I think that this has been another great week! I am upset for ruining our chances at a good run, though, and I have to apologize to Harriet Wallace for almost wrecking her. It’s a terrible feeling to hurt someone else’s day with your own mistakes, and that wreck was entirely my fault. But aside from my own mistakes on track, we were having another great race. My team have proved to me from the start of the year that they always give their very best efforts, and they did it again to give me an amazing car for the LCQ and put me in a special event twice this year. I would have loved to have redone that one lap and given the team the result that they earned, but I'm just grateful and, to be honest, amazed with what my team and I have been able to do this year! My rookie experience in Dash Cup has been absolutely incredible!”
Fochesato ends the 2015 season with a full schedule of 56 starts, including two race victories, both coming during the weekend of the German GP at Norisring. The 23-year-old will be returning to FIAM Engineering for his sophomore season in 2016 when the Pirelli Super Touring Series returns to the use of Omecha-style stock cars, becoming the Pirelli Stock Series.
Before reporting to his team's garage, Fochesato concluded with a few statements regarding the championship; “Oh! And congratulations to Cassie [Collins]! What that team did this year is nothing short of amazing. I feel that I’m just pointing out the obvious, but she’s going to become a Dash Cup legend. It’s an honor to get to race in the same series as her!"
Dash Cup now enters its winter offseason, but soon enough the teams will be hard at work getting their stock cars ready for a trio of races at Toddring to open the new season in 2016.

He was for every other race but I had him attempt in his Spa car for this race to give Walters a shot at making the race rather than making another Carter STS car
