I think the Genesis track has something to do with that.
Anyway....
- Spoiler:
- Rogers ends 2012 with a thud:
After her failure to finish at the Toddring, Kellan Rogers swore to come out of the New York GP unscathed.
She didn't quite do it.
Rogers got enough of the Lap 11 wreck that she finished the race sans hood, and came home in 19th.
"I had the right idea," she said. "I wanted to make sure I was far enough back that when all hell broke loose like it does on these superspeedways, I'd be able to get through it clean. I guess I wasn't, because I didn't."
Rogers finished just outside the top 20 in points in 22nd - not bad for someone who only entered six events.
"I really wished I could've done more," she said. "This wasn't the way I wanted to end my tenure at Matthews Motorsports. I'd have loved to have gotten Ryan a win, but we do have the exhibition tour coming up, so I hope we can go out on a high note."

Nice choice on the Genesis track BTW Ben.
- Spoiler:
- McArthur earns best career finish in final Dash Cup start
For Patrick McArthur, the 2012 Dash Cup couldn't have been worse. Crashes and mediocre runs led to the Irish driver to not be resigned for 2013. However in his final start at New York, he scored his career best finish, 7th.
Afterword, McArthur shared his thoughts on the day and the season as well as his future.
"Well, 7th is definitely like a win right now. This season has really tested me and it's been hard. But, I wanted to make sure that the team could at least have something to build on next season even though I'm not going to be in the seat.
At this point time, I'd like to keep racing, but I don't know where or for whom. This series is a blast and these drivers are the best in the world. I hate that I won't be able to share that next season, but it's time to write a new chapter."

- J. Tremblay scores yet another top 5; makes an announcement regarding his racing status
A couple of months after he announced that he would drop to part-time competition, Jacob Tremblay made another announcement shortly after his 5th top 5 finish of the season at New York. "Only after this season have I realized how much there's still to do, such as winning another race, or win the Spa GP, and maybe even win a championship. I believe that I'm ready to step back into the fight for the championship!"

(OOC: This has got to be the most fun I've had in quite a long time. Thank you, Ben, and thank you everyone else who was involved in this season. Can't wait for next year. )
- Spoiler:
- O'Reilly Ends 2012 Campaign On High Note
It was a unique Dash Cup season for Andrew O'Reilly and the entire Westockin Spiedel Racing Team. After the untimely and tragic death of Shawn Glenhooke and Ben Tremblay, they put in a young and untested Irishman into the #9 seat. Things started out pretty decent for the 25 year-old, but he hit a rough patch midway through the season. O'Reilly finally bounced back with an emotional win at the Toddring Grand Prix. At the season finale New York Grand Prix, O'Reilly vowed to stay out of trouble and in contention for the win. He finished 14th after several pit strategies jumbled most of the field.
"Knowing New York, I just wanted to stay out of trouble and out of the championship leaders way, and bring the car home in one piece. I think I did a pretty good job at that. The lap 11 wreck was pretty scary, one of the oddest I've ever seen, and I hope everyone is okay from it. Also, congrats to Oak [Treediee] and to Reuben [Vogt].
O'Reilly then commented on his team's unique pit strategy.
"I was pretty much at a loss at that moment. I think the team wanted to stay with that certain group of cars, thinking we could all work together to make our way back up front, but I think a bit of a difference in horsepower sort of messed that up. But we were able to achieve a 14th place finish, and I think that's a pretty great result. I guess there's a reason I'm in the car, and not on the pit box or in the bunker."
O'Reilly also has high hopes for his 2013 season.
"2013 is going to be stellar. We're having new sponsorship partners coming aboard and I know I'm going to be ready for these tracks. Can't wait for the exhibition season to start. I just want to thank the whole team for sticking with me. These guys are strong."
O'Reilly finishes the season with an impressive 14th in the points standings, 138 behind 2012 champion Reuben Vogt.
