Post by gone-sovereign Sun Nov 22, 2015 8:26 pm

I'll do the honors this year if that's okay. :V

Just nominate the driver/team that should get the award and it'll be tallied. The nominee with the most votes will ultimately get the award. I'll leave it up to you to decide if you would like to do it for each individual series or address them all collectively.

Post by PYLrulz Sun Nov 22, 2015 8:42 pm

Driver of the Year:  Lewis Hamilton
Team of the Year: Mercedes
Fail Driver of the Year: Ricky Stenhouse
Fail Team of the Year: McLaren
Best Comeback: Has to be Kyle Busch.  Anybody else, and I would EASILY vote for them over Busch, but what else is there?
Best Race: NASCAR @ Kentucky, just for the fact they ended up showing that what NASCAR has been trying with the cars for years is shit, and what they had that day is the best thing they had in years. Also I notice a lot of people are voting Indy @ California. I can't in good faith vote for it. Sure, it was exciting, but I just do not like the Indy guys running around like the NASCAR guys at Daytona and Talladega. Still think back to Vegas in 2011.
Worst Race: NASCAR @ Indy
Biggest Hit: Kyle Busch @ Daytona
Best Finish: Trucks @ Charlotte
Controversy of the Year: Tie.  Harvick's little stunt, and Kenesth's little bitchfit
LOL Moment: The Chase... again

Just doing NASCAR, because let's face it, it's all I watch.

Sprint Cup:
Driver of the Year: Kyle Busch (to come off an injury and win 4 races, plus the performance in the last race. Yeah, no question here)
Team of the Year: Stewart Haas Racing (Both Harvick and Kurt Busch had great runs this year. Harvick also with the streak of top 2s early in the year, easy answer here)
Fail Driver of the Year: Clint Bowyer (givin' this was MWR's final season, you'd think they would've run better, but NOPE)
Fail Team of the Year: Roush (All 3 drivers were completely off the radar this year, easy call for me here)
Best Comeback: Kyle Busch (No explanation needed here)
Best Race: Daytona 500 (aside from the final lap caution, this was the best race his year)
Worst Race: Texas spring race
Biggest Hit: Austin Dillion at Daytona in July (no explanation needed)
Best Finish: 2nd Pocono race (yeah, it was a fuel mileage race, but the last time we saw both front cars run out of fuel and someone else win was 2009)
Controversy of the Year: Talladega Chase Race (I don't think I need to explain this one)
LOL Moment: Kenseth's payback of Logano (given what I've seen of Matt, this one surprised me)

Xfinity Series:
Driver of the Year: Chris Buescher (anytime you beat the defending series champion you get the nod)
Team of the Year: JR Motorsports (two cars in the top 4 in points at the end of the year? yeah, you get this)
Fail Driver of the Year: N/A
Fail Team of the Year: N/A
Best Comeback: N/A
Best Race: Road America
Worst Race: Probably Texas (I don't care)
Biggest Hit: Kyle Busch at Daytona
Best Finish: N/A

Post by bigdc48 Mon Nov 23, 2015 11:22 am

Nascar Sprint Cup

Driver of the Year: Joey Logano (Was until stuff happened in the 3rd Round)
Team of the Year: Furniture Row Racing (This team with Truex r. showed impressive pace against the big dogs)
Fail Driver of the Year: Sam Hornish Jr. (I thought he was going to be respectible, but that went south)
Fail Team of the Year: Roush Fenway Racing (I thought they're going be bad, but not THAT bad)
Best Comeback: Kyle Busch (If it wasn't for Busch, Truex Jr. would definitely get my vote)
Best Race: Darlington (Low downforce = better racing. Nuff said. Daytona and Kentucky are up there as well)
Worst Race: Michigan 2 (High drag = High amounts of boredom)
Biggest Hit: Dillon at Daytona 2 (That scared the shit outta me)
Best Finish: Watkins Glen (obviously not 2012 levels)
Controversy of the Year: The Chase (Talladega and Martinsville, for example)
LOL Moment: Look at the above

Nascar Xfinity

Driver of the Year: Chris Buescher (Consistency = championship)
Team of the Year: Richard Childress Racing (because of their relevancy throughout the season)
Fail Driver of the Year: Elliott Sadler (Continues to regress even in lower-tiers)
Fail Team of the Year: The S&P teams (GTFO please)
Best Comeback: IDK
Best Race: Mid-Ohio
Worst Race: Take your pick
Biggest Hit: Kyle Busch at Daytona (Injuring to leg and foot says it all)
Best Finish: Las Vegas (Dillon vs Blaney)
Controversy of the Year: IDK
LOL Moment: The series in general

Nascar Camping World Trucks

Driver of the Year: Erik Jones (Was one of the handful of drivers to compete with Crafton)
Team of the Year: Kyle Busch Motorsports (Nothing to discuss really)
Fail Driver of the Year: Korbin Forrister (Just bad as week old dog shit)
Fail Team of the Year: SS-Green Light Racing (Putting a Donald Trump sponsor on the truck really did it for me)
Best Comeback: John Wes Townley (Was shockingly consistent all season and WON A RACE)
Best Race: Eldora (Needs a Cup date immediately. These truckers put on a helluva show as always at Eldora)
Worst Race: Pocono (Crafton for HIS mistake, and Kyle Busch winning the race was all I can chew out of this race)
Biggest Hit: Austin Theriault @ Las Vegas (When a HANS device breaks, that's a scary feeling)
Best Finish: Charlotte (0.005 sec...on a mile-an-a-half track)
Controversy of the Year: IDK
LOL Moment: John Wes Townley winning Las Vegas (I still find myself LOLing about it)

IndyCar

Driver of the Year: Scott Dixon (Kept his foot down all season and chased Penske down and won his 4th crown)
Team of the Year: Team Penske (Dominant until Sonoma)
Fail Driver of the Year: Stefano Coletti (Just slow and bad. So much for that GP2 experience)
Fail Team of the Year: Dale Coyne Racing (AJ Foty Enterprises is a close 2nd)
Best Comeback: Graham Rahal (Finally lived up to expectations when he first came to top-tier open-wheel in 2007)
Best Race: Fontana (Easily the best IndyCar race I've seen in years)
Worst Race: NOLA (Super Mario Kart, everyone?)
Biggest Hit: James Hinchcliffe @ Indy (The fact that there was speculation that he could have been killed by this crash makes it really damning)
Best Finish: Indianapolis 500 (JPM from the back to the front and shuffling with Power, Dixon and Kimball)
Controversy of the Year: Not that big but Carpenter being a litte bitch to Karam at Iowa
LOL Moment: Penske continuing to fail to win a title (Losing it 6 of the last 7 years?)

Formula 1

Driver of the Year: Sebastian Vettel (He was the only driver to compete with the Mercs)
Team of the Year: Mercedes (self-explanatory)
Fail Driver of the Year: Will Stevens (Finished last in the championship and got his ass kicked by Rossi, who only did 5 races with the team)
Fail Team of the Year: McLaren Honda (Like Roush Fenway Racing, I would have never have thought they would be THIS atrocious)
Best Comeback: Sebastian Vettel (After a rough 2014, came back to his former self)
Best Race: United States (Balls to the wall racing at its finest)
Worst Race: Russia (Aside from the Massa-Bottas battle, nothing happened really)
Biggest Hit: Max Versteppan at Monaco (I'm judging from the look of it)
Best Finish: Hungary
Controversy of the Year: IDK
LOL Moment: Mercedes for pulling a Pete Carroll special (Super Bowl 49) to Hamilton at Monaco (Which meant blowing it away upon epic proportions when you have it in your hands...and I'm a Patriots fan)

Driver of the Year: Joey Logano (Deserved to win the title, Harv was the only one even close to him)
Team of the Year: Joe Gibbs Racing (All 4 cars were contenders almost every week)
Fail Driver of the Year: Trevor Bayne (I used to be a Bayne fan when he was coming up, but he's let me down so much. I was afraid this would happen if Roush held him back for too long... Honorable mention to Stenhouse Jr. for being equally bad.)
Fail Team of the Year: Roush Fenway Racing
Best Comeback: Truex Jr. (Regan Smith could have been in Busch's shoes and probably still made the Chase at least)

Team of the Year: Team Penske (Seemed like nobody could touch their overall effort this year; Ganassi fell of a bit)
Fail Driver of the Year: Gabby Chaves (Was disappointing all season, at least Coletti looked decent at times)
Fail Team of the Year: Dale Coyne Racing (It's revolving doors always seemed to provide lackluster results)
Best Comeback: James Hinchcliffe (Pretty crazy story for him)
Best Race: Auto Club/Fontana (About as exciting and crazy as IndyCar has been in the past few years... yeesh.)
Worst Race: NOLA (Yeah...)

Nascar Cup:

Driver of the Year: Dale Earnhardt Jr (One of Junior best years in his career and i felt had we had a real points system he would've had a shot at it)
Team of the Year: Penske Racing/Joe Gibbs Racing (Both had very strong points during the year and all drivers were on point)
Fail Driver of the Year: Tony Stewart (There's is only one driver he is ahead of that is in a well funded car, Trevor Bayne and in a Stewart-Hass car that is unacceptable especially with a driver of his stature)
Fail Team of the Year: Roush Racing (Roush lost Edwards and god did that team just jump off a cliff, Biffle was the best at the team and with his year that isn't saying much
Best Comeback: Martin Truex Jr (24th in points last year...i though Truex's time in Cup was running out. Proved me wrong)
Best Race: Darlington (Just a fun race in general and some nice flashbacks to the past)
Worst Race: Phoenix (A boring race with a "well screw it" ending, for a cut-off race that is bogus)
Biggest Hit: Austin Dillon @ Daytona (Many parents were woken up...In all seriousness that's the kind of hit that despite all the safety changes makes you worry
Best Finish: Texas #2 (Kez vs Johnson battle was pretty fun and it's the only crazy finish i can remember)
Controversy of the Year: The Chase (When you make an already bad season into a hot mess then you know you have a crappy point system
LOL Moment: Dibenedetto and McDowell's safety truck collisions. (Safety truck silliness is always funny)

Nascar Xfinity:

Driver of the Year: Chris Buescher (Dudes worst finish all year was 20th, Consistent as all hell)
Team of the Year: Joe Gibbs Racing (Jones and Suarez looking strong in Xfinity, their future is bright)
Fail Driver of the Year: Cale Conley (Conley was pretty smashy this year)
Fail Team of the Year: Tri-Star (Just kind of messy for the most part this year)
Best Comeback: Daniel Suarez (Dude had a bad start to the year and turn it into a nice top 5 in points)
Best Race: Road America (I honestly can't remember a race that was memorable this year, so Amurica)
Worst Race: Take your choice (Although i just move now-a-days with the series, i will admit that they were a lot of bad races this year)
Biggest Hit: Kyle Busch @ Daytona (Leg breaks = Very hard hit)
Best Finish: Las Vegas (Yeah that finish was p cool)
Controversy of the Year: Buescher bumping his teammate out of the way at Dover (That's the only big talking point i remember from this year)
LOL Moment: Mike Wallace ramming Austin Dillon under the red flag at Daytona (Last time i saw a red flag wreck was at my local short track)

Nascar Trucks:

Driver of the Year: Erik Jones (After a bad start to the year he was on it for the rest of the year)
Team of the Year: Thorsport (Crafton was strong, Sauter was quiet but got a top 5 in points, same with Hayley
Fail Driver of the Year: Korbin Forrister (Forrister was a spinny mess this year, also managed to make something related to Donald Trump look more dumb)
Fail Team of the Year: Mike Harmon Racing (This is mainly awarded because "haha your poor," but damn were some of their car design choices ugly this year)
Best Comeback: John Wes Townley (DUDE WON A RACE)
Best Race: Eldora (2 young drivers fighting for the victory along with a wild races equals a lot of fun)
Worst Race: Daytona (It was funny, but it was an absolute smashfest)
Biggest Hit:  Austin Theriault @ Las Vegas (Breaking your HANS Device = Very hard hit)
Best Finish: Charlotte (It's rare you see a photo finish on a cookie cutter now-a-days-)
Controversy of the Year: 1 GWC failure at Dega (Yeah that was pretty dumb, Gallagher and Townley derping each other)
LOL Moment: Matt Crafton trying to toss his glove out the window to get a debris caution to beat JOHN WES TOWNLEY

Indycar:

Driver of the Year: Josef Newgarden (Newgarden was hot this year, and i think might be Indycar's chance at a marketable talent)
Team of the Year: Penske Racing (Other than Pagenaud the team was once again very strong a fighting for the title)
Fail Driver of the Year: Francesco Dracone (Dracone was a little crazy at times is putting it lightly....more like kinda dangerous)
Fail Team of the Year: AJ Foyt Racing (Sato and Hawksworth were both pretty bad this year other than Sato's occasional craziness at the front)
Best Comeback: Graham Rahal (Rahal finally went from Fail Driver to leading competent driver who led the Honda Manufacturer this year)
Best Race: Fontana (Just out and out batshit insanity from start to finish, fun stuff)
Worst Race: NOLA (NOLA's one and only race a wet and messy affair)
Biggest Hit: James Hinchcliife @ Indy (Rocker Arm into your thigh = Very hard hit)
Best Finish: Indy 500 (Two teammates duking it out for the 500 win)
Controversy of the Year: Aero-Kits becoming Aero-Planes at Indy (It got so bad to the point i was waking up to make sure nothing bad happened at Indy on my Phone)
LOL Moment: Ryan Briscoe playing in the grass hole he made at Fontana (Dark humor sometimes can be hilarious)

F1:

Driver of the Year: Sebastian Vettel  (Vettel has carried that Ferrari team nearly to Mercedes pace)
Team of the Year: Mercedes (Obvious)
Fail Driver of the Year: Will Stevens (This is honestly more because he's last in point, he hasn't done anything to offensive otherwise)
Fail Team of the Year: McLaren (Two world champions forced to be on Manor pace)
Best Comeback: Sebastian Vettel (After a mediocre year last year with Red Bull, Vettel is back to form)
Best Race: COTA (That race was the fun F1 that has been missing for a while)
Worst Race: Russia/Spa (Both races i went to sleep before the race ended)
Biggest Hit: Carlos Sainz's wreck in Russia (Straight out hit was pretty hard, adding onto the fact that he needed to be stretchered out is scary)
Best Finish: Hungary (Only one i can think of)
Controversy of the Year: Internal politics being the worst and most interesting thing about F1 (The sport needs to put the racing first)
LOL Moment: Toro Rosso get smashed up by the Marshall's post retirement in China/Hamilton's meltdown at Monaco (One was the marshalls treating a multi-million dollar car like a pesky puzzle piece, and another was the most hilarious post-race rage i think i've ever seen in F1)

Overall:

Driver of the Year: Erik Jones (I think this year Jones arrived as Joe Gibbs future championship winner, the kids got talent)
Team of the Year: Mercedes F1 (Whether it's a good or bad thing they are destroying the field in F1)
Reject of the Year: Tony Stewart (Multi-time champions shouldn't be that awful)
Reject Team of the Year: McLaren (Multi-Time champions shouldn't be that awful: It's the cars fault edition)
Best Comeback: Graham Rahal (Rahal finally turned over the gimmick that he was a fail driver)
Best Race: Fontana Indycar (250 laps of hold your breath is the easy winner of Race of the Year
Worst Race: Phoenix Nascar Cup (From a stand point that decided the championship race, that's pretty dumb honestly)
Biggest hit: James Hinchcliffe @ Indy (The fact it almost killed him was scary)
Best Finish: Charlotte Truck Series race (Side by side photo finish tho)
Controversy of the Year: Nascar's Chase (2-3 intent wrecks, a rain shortened fiasco, a tire fiasco and a champion who miss 12 races. Need i say more.)
LOL Moment: Crafton needed intent Debris to beat John Wes Townley at the Truck Series race at Las Vegas (2 time champion vs Nascar's smasher and crasher and Crafton went to those lengths)

2015 EFR Motorsports Awards Empty Re: 2015 EFR Motorsports Awards

Post by Spannerhead29 (Nelson) Tue Nov 24, 2015 8:12 am

Sprint Cup

Driver of the Year: Kevin Harvick. In a fair world (and by fair world, I mean world where this whatever dumb fuck chase system doesn't exist), he'd the world famous two-time Sprint Cup champ.
Team of the Year: Joe Gibbs Racing. Championship. Sprint Unlimited. All-Star. Coke 600. Brickyard 400. Southern 500.
Fail Driver of the Year: Danica Patrick. 3 years ago she was failing horribly at wrecking cars 1/4 of her team's budget. Nothing has changed.
Fail Team of the Year: Roush Racing. 10 years ago they held 5 out of 10 Chase spots. They didn't even close to getting one out sixteen this year.
Best Comeback: Kyle Busch. Annoyingly.
Best Race: Daytona 500. Whole field 3-wide for 20-odd laps was amazing to watch.
Worst Race: Michigan Fall/Martinsville Fall. That aero package needs to be taken into a dark room and be beaten. Martinsville has ungodly amounts of bullshit.
Biggest Hit: Austin Dillon at Daytona. Catchfences are always no bueno.
Best Finish: Watkins Glen.. No where near 2011-12 crazy, but fuel finishes are always fun.
Controversy of the Year: Matt Cuntseth
LOL Moment: The pathetic attempt that NASCAR's PR made to seem like the high downforce was the best thing ever.

Xfinity

Driver of the Year: Chris Buescher. Consistency wins Championships.
Team of the Year: JR Motorsports.. 7 and 9 were great again all year, and the 88 car was solid with Cuppies.
Fail Driver of the Year: Ryan Reed. First full-time Xfinity driver in history to win 1 race, and have no other top 10's.
Fail Team of the Year: Mike Harmon Racing. Tracy Vines was that slow at Homestead, they needed to put Mike Harmon back into the car.
Best Comeback: Kyle Busch. Even more annoyingly. Won most races of the year.
Best Race: Hard to pick between both Iowa's.
Worst Race: Put 20 races in a hat, and draw one out.
Biggest Hit: Kyle Busch. His right leg was pointing towards Canada, and his left leg towards Mexico.
Best Finish: Mid-Ohio.. Who doesn't love a last corner, clean bump-and-run.
Controversy of the Year: 30 minute caution at Road America.
LOL Moment: Denny Hamlin spinning himself and Kyle Busch at New Hampshire.

Camping World Trucks

Driver of the Year: Erik Jones. Dominated so many races. Won 5 out of 23.
Team of the Year: Kyle Busch Motorsports. Apart from the sponsorship fiasco involving the 54 truck and Justin Boston.
Fail Driver of the Year: Jennifer Jo Cobb. Carrying her phone in her car when it got banned 3 years ago.
Fail Team of the Year: Every back-marker team. Can't even name half of them.
Best Comeback: John Wes Townley. Even without his Las Vegas win, he was consistent all year.
Best Race: Las Vegas. Simply because Townley won.
Worst Race: Pocono. World's Greatest Driver won, and that's it.
Biggest Hit: Austin Therauilt at Las Vegas. When safety equipment that's suppose to work, doesn't, you know it's bad.
Best Finish: Charlotte. 0.005 seconds.
Controversy of the Year: Talladega finish There's no reason for there to be a 1 G-W-C rule.
LOL Moment: Junior Joiner at Phoenix. Crew chief for Matt Crafton. Legitimately suggested that Erik Jones should of laid down and give Crafton the win.

2015 EFR Motorsports Awards Empty Re: 2015 EFR Motorsports Awards

Post by RetrogradeRenegade Tue Nov 24, 2015 12:28 pm

F1
Driver of the Year: Sebastian Vettel - Truly proved his class this year, not that it was really in doubt.
Team of the Year: Mercedes - Well, obviously.
Fail Driver of the Year: Kimi Raikkonen - Completely blown away by Vettel, and seems to have picked up a tendency to get into accidents as well.
Fail Team of the Year: Red Bull - McLaren have been terrible, but Red Bull nearly bluffed themselves out of the sport. GG guys.
Best Comeback: Daniil Kvyat - Looked like a flop when his first few races were categorised by silly mistakes, but he's turned it around quite well.
Best Race: Austin - Brilliant race; wet conditions, legitimate challenges for Mercedes, Ricciardo leading and being able to be awesome... I couldn't ask for more.
Worst Race: Monza - Awful. Awful. Awful.
Best Finish: Russia - That fight for 3rd had me on the edge of my seat.
Controversy of the Year: The Red Bull engine drama, ye gods that was stupid.
LOL Moment: Hamilton throwing a hissy fit because he finally figured out after 8 years that all the aero on these cars makes it kinda hard to overtake your teammate.

IndyCar
Driver of the Year: Josef Newgarden - Broke out and became the driver we knew he could.
Team of the Year: Ganassi - They get it by default since they were the best team after Penske, who forfeited this after choking away the title.
Fail Driver of the Year: Sage Karam - Crashed his way out of likely the best opportunity he'll ever get.
Fail Team of the Year: Dale Coyne Racing - Well, obviously.
Best Comeback: Graham Rahal - Well, obviously.
Best Race: Fontana - Well, yeah.
Worst Race: NOLA - That... was an unfortunate mess.
Controversy of the Year: The 'Honda kinda sucks, doesn't it... oh wait Rahal's doing well? Wat' saga
LOL Moment: Sebastien Bourdais at Milwaukee. Man, that was fun to watch.

NASCAR Cup
Driver of the Year: Joey Logano - I simply refuse to give this to Harvick after Talladega.
Team of the Year: Joe Gibbs Racing - Won everything worth winning besides Daytona. Not bad at all.
Fail Driver of the Year: Ricky Stenhouse Jr - Had more spins and wrecks than anyone else. What a sped.
Fail Team of the Year: Roush Fenway Racing - Biffle was the thing this team has going for it anymore, but even at his peak, he couldn't carry a team.
Best Comeback: Kyle Busch - Well, obviously.
Best Race: Darlington - Would've been one of the greatest races I've watched if NASCAR hadn't spoiled it with that final caution.
Worst Race: All the superspeedways, but especially the Talladega Chase race. What an utter farce that turned out to be.
Best Finish: Kentucky - A great showdown between Kyle Busch and Logano.
Controversy of the Year: Kevin Harvick deciding deliberately wrecking someone at Talladega is a reasonable thing to do.
LOL Moment: Kenseth's sarcastic explanation of him wrecking Logano.

BTCC:
Driver of the Year: Andrew Jordan/Mat Jackson - Kept the recalcitrant MG in the title fight way longer than it deserved to be/Proved his credentials as a title-caliber driver
Team of the Year: Team BMR - Very impressive improvement over the last couple years.
Fail Driver of the Year: Aron Smith - Massively underwhelming all year.
Fail Team of the Year: Support Our Paras Racing - Made a joke of a factory entry, and about the only positive thing they provided was the opportunity of endless Pokemon jokes.
Best Comeback: Motorbase - Missed the first half of the season due to a lack of money, came back and won 4 of the last 9 races, with 3 poles as well.

Just nominate the driver/team that should get the award and it'll be tallied. The nominee with the most votes will ultimately get the award. I'll leave it up to you to decide if you would like to do it for each individual series or address them all collectively.
