2014 STP 500 - Sprint Cup Series
The Sprint Cup Series heads towards it's 5th race of the season, at the shortest track on the schedule, Martinsville Speedway at 0.526m. 2 of the 3 Joe Gibbs Racing drivers are on the front row, with Kyle Busch leading the way on Pole with Denny Hamlin alongside him, with their fellow teammate Matt Kenseth starting in 6th. Some surprises out of Qualifying include Danica Patrick starting 10th, her best position since Pole Position for the 2013 Daytona 500, Alex Bowman starting 19th in a BK Racing car, and some notables that didn't make the Top-20 include Kurt Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne.

IMO, that was a dumbass move on Kurt Busch's part for ARCA braking on the pits.

GJ Kurt! Awesome win after the crap with the 2 before!
Pretty upset Jamie Mac got wrecked. He had a really good car today, but I would have figured Jr would have known better, especially with the season he's having... oh well, it is what it is.

Really fun race today. First race was smashed filled but they calmed it down in the latter part of the second half.
So about that wrecked car Kurt? lol
Good run for RPM as well with both cars in the top 10.

Re: 2014 STP 500 - Sprint Cup Series
Well, despite Jimmie injecting his usual dose of boredom into the race, once again leading over half the race, the Borebox was beaten by the Outlaw, Kurt Busch, who snaps a long 83 race drought. Gotta say, as fast as that team came together, they are looking very good right now in terms of the championship.
As far as the Jr./McMurray incident is concerned, it looked like McMurray came down on Jr. coming out of two, but it looked like a racing deal to me. It is Martinsville, after all.
Overall, this was actually a solid race, despite the fact that Jimmay was leading for most of it and of course IndyCar being on at the same time.
The 2014 STP 500 @ Martinsville gets a solid 6.5/10. Prepare for next week, though, because I have a sinking feeling that Texas will be the first big turd that the Cup Series drops. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Wow, didn't expect Kurt to even have a chance to win after the pit road calamity early on. Congrats to him.

Re: 2014 STP 500 - Sprint Cup Series
In my opinion, Keselowski needs to get over himself. The collision on pit road was a product of how conjested Martinsville can be. He should've known himself that Kurt was coming, so Kurt didn't run into him, he hit him when trying to get around Kasey Kahne. I know tempers can flare at Short Tracks and that can always happen, but Keselowski took the situation further that he should've, and from my view it looked he was trying to wreck Kurt and failed, because the outcome could've been so much more different. I don't hate Brad, but I just found it very unusual for him to overreact like that, which is why he just needs to settle down and move on.

I like Kez. But that was a huge overreaction on his part and it ended up all being for not.
It also brings one of the fears of the new chase format to the foreground, Driver who already got wins having nothing to lose and screwing with other drivers.
