Re: 2013 Geico 400 - Sprint Cup Series
This past week has been an exercise in stupidity, on all fronts.crl wrote:Ah, yes, that time of the year when the dumbasses who have the perfect fit for the Chase come out:
Yep, let's let a guy whose average finish on the year is 26th (fluke win included) run for the biggest championship in stock car racing just because of that one win. Yeah, that won't look like a joke when he's finishing midpack every week except 'Dega. Goddamn, people like this jackass piss me off. People like this moron give the "NASCAR fans are stupid" crowd fodder. And allowing people like him in the door means we deserve it. Judging by his picture, it seems he's a sports talk radio host. Dear God, that's beyond frightening; that someone like him is allowed to go on the airwaves and spout his opinions, no matter how ridiculous they sound.

He's right. They need to make wins more valuable.crl wrote:Ah, yes, that time of the year when the dumbasses who have the perfect fit for the Chase come out:

Also why blow up on a blatantly sarcastic post?

Quoting this because there's a 60% chance of rain at some point on raceday(could be before, during, or, hopefully, after). Draw your conclusions...Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:Take your raincoat Cooper, I can see Gordon turning the race into a rain-out.Cynon wrote:Damn, son, don't go telling that to Jeff Gordon's fanbase!! There's enough sour grapes in Jeff Gordon's twitter fanbase to make a vineyard! No, I don't think MWR will do that, but I think Jeff Gordon will be doing a lot of crying this weekend.

the "drivers must give 100 percent" rule might be the dumbest thing ever. it is a totally subjective rule and is impossible to enforce in an unbiased way, it is basically going to be NASCAR penalizing drivers they don't like.

Re: 2013 Geico 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Yeah, I was really perplexed when I heard that, too. How the hell do you enforce that? Is pushing a teammate to a win at Talladega or on a GWC restart "not giving 100 percent"?? Are gentlemanly things such as moving out of the way when you're damaged/a lap down going to be banned in favor of driving like a hooligan so that you can make a highlight reel?Pyrozooka0 wrote:the "drivers must give 100 percent" rule might be the dumbest thing ever. it is a totally subjective rule and is impossible to enforce in an unbiased way, it is basically going to be NASCAR penalizing drivers they don't like.
NASCAR says they're trying to get rid of the gray area, but I think they're just making a much bigger gray area with this...

So I'll be going to this race as well, but I'm really hoping it doesn't rain out cause I highly doubt I'll be able to go on Monday.

Maybe it'll replace the grey matter they're so sorely lacking.Cynon wrote:Yeah, I was really perplexed when I heard that, too. How the hell do you enforce that? Another reason why IndyCar has become a LOT more appealing to me. Not to mention the fact that IndyCar's product has been vastly superior to NASCAR's this season. Granted, there have been a few instances where NASCAR has had better races when IndyCar was on at the same time, but those have been few and far between.PYLrulz wrote:NASCAR is just turning into a total fuckery -_-
IndyCar has officially supplanted NASCAR as my favorite auto racing series. I will continue to watch NASCAR, but I just don't have the same enthusiasm for it anymore. Between the MWR controversy at Richmond and this whole rules fiasco this week, NASCAR is quickly becoming a massive joke.

I was going to make a post of my own, but these two posts have already summed up my thoughts perfectly. I'll be watching the actual auto racing over at IndyCar in favor of the wannabe reality show NASCAR has become, thanks.PackerMan71 wrote:Another reason why IndyCar has become a LOT more appealing to me. Well, I have to say that with everything that has happened this pass week, this has to be the first Chase race with the most storylines since the first chase in 2004.
Re: 2013 Geico 400 - Sprint Cup Series
The restarts rules have slightly changed.
Once the leader accelerates, than the second place car has the right to beat the leader.

Re: 2013 Geico 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Finally, a GOOD rule change is coming out of this clusterfuck. And, after reading Cynon's assessment of the 100 percent rule of stupidity and subjectiveness, the rule seems to downright encourage ARLA-like shenanigans (dumping lapped cars, wrecking everything in sight, 4 wide on the first lap, etc).Michael29Shell wrote:The restarts rules have slightly changed.

Drivers to their cars!!! We're going racing, plus the radar shows that we're clear of rain for a while
Logano, i think, this race will show if he's got what it takes!

I don't actually understand why the leader restarts the race as opposed to the flagman, but maybe that's just me.Michael29Shell wrote:The restarts rules have slightly changed.

I'm talking about the people just love to whine just because they can whine. I remember years back when they tried to cram in the race at California despite the weepers in the track causing trouble, and people whined about how NASCAR should have just waited until tomorrow to try and get the race in... but in the same season, people whined that NASCAR should had done its best to try and get qualifying in at Bristol even if it took all night... when looking at a radar, anyone could tell you no qualifying was going to happen that day.Cynon wrote:NASCAR needs to stop playing games with the tracks about the Air Titan.
