Looks like the brand split will return as well... I guess it'll be set up as Shane vs. Triple H and/or Stephanie.
EDIT: Brand split confirmed on WWE.com. Now they just need to bring the fist stage back...

Starting July 19th, Smackdown will be live.
And a brand split too.
Honestly, that's a good thing because, even though someone may now only be on once a week, it allows talent a better chance to shine, not to mention no overkill of storylines or characters with shit being repeated over and over again, if not being rushed through before the PPV's.
Maybe with a brand split possibly happening, the WWE can also go back to brand specific PPV's, so it allows everyone 8 PPV's a year (4 for their brand, and then the Big 4 that both brands would share), and a chance to let storylines marinate and build with some time.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
If they are going to do this, they need some new championships, like a SmackDown World Title (If Roman isn't going to SmackDown, and lets face it, he's not.), and I always thought in the waning years of the original brand split, I thought it was kind of stupid that the tag and woman's championships were for both brands.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
NXT Takeover themes were announced today, and both are interesting choices.
First (and main) is Paranoia by A Day To Remember. For people that don't know, the lead singer used to be engaged to Paige, but broke up, so supposed that he'd want anything to do with wrestling.
Second (Women's Title theme) is Karate by Babymetal. For those that don't know, Babymetal is a just regular, old, metal band...
with 3 teenage girls as the lead singers. It seems like someone got bored and mashed DragonForce with Girls Generation.

Pretty proud Australian right now. Earlier today, for the 3rd time in NXT history, but 1st in the male division, three Australians competed on the one match.

I'd love to see Corey Graves get a call up. He and Mauro on Smackdown will be the best thing ever. Though that'll mean no more "shut up Tom" on NXT

Wow.
I thought if something like this happened to Roman it would of been swept under the rug and Vinny Mac would of been like "IT WAS A FALSE POSITIVE DAMNIT".
Thinking about it now, I feel like this is why he lost the title at MITB.

I kind of had that sneaking suspicion as well. Â I wouldn't put it past Vince to have known about this for weeks, have him lose the title at MITB, do RAW, and then suspend him knowing the suspension will be over days before Battleground.navycook75 wrote:Wow.

Apparently, Vince was just going to punish him by taking the title away, but then the news leaked, and they had no choice but to suspend him for thirty days, which, if that really was the case, is a really serious issue. Can you imagine what that would do to their image if that were true, especially since they're a publicly traded company? And they're already financially in the gutter as it is.

That's been done with just about everyone with any kind of storyline (one that comes to mind since I was at that show was when the feud between Cena and Miz and R-Truth had to be wrapped up because of a violation on R-Truth's part, and they closed the feud with Miz backstabbing R-Truth). Â That doesn't bother me too much because of the nature of televised wrestling. Wouldn't be good if you have a feud going on and then Michael Cole abruptly going "oop, I'm sorry, we had to end the feud because someone screwed up". Â If, however, Vince was going to "look the other way", and simply strip Reigns of his title, that does say something... and that's not good.
Also, with Orton, he doesn't have a Jeff Hardy kind of reputation with the drugs and such, so I'm sure that played a factor there. Â He still has his two strikes, but since he can still be good to push some shirts, they'll finagle a way to keep him around.

Orton actually has one strike, one of the strikes was removed after a "redemption" program. That redemption program is why he wasn't really near the main event scene in 2012-mid 2013.

I'll believe it when it's in the Observer or the Torch, and not a NEWZ site.

WrestlingRumors is literally a glorified rumor facebook page. No credibility whatsoever.
To be honest, regardless of what he got busted for, I'll most likely be hardly surprised.

So, RAW this past week got a 1.87 rating, which I believe is the lowest rating that RAW has ever gotten, if not pretty damn close.
And Vince says the ratings don't matter. Yeah, Vince, let's see you say that to the USA Network executives and see what kind of reaction you get, because if the ratings continue to go down and down and down, there won't BE a Monday Night RAW on USA.

Honestly, even if USA cancels it, someone else will pick it up. Besides, TNA managed to survive cancellation and they don't have the WWE Network.

It was July 4th though. Ratings will be back above 2 next week, especially considering it's following UFC 200.

It's not a good number, but it wasn't nearly as bad as expected. There was only a 14% drop from last week, and July 4th episodes have dropped 20+% in the past. And it was still one of the top programs on all of TV.
The brand split will definitely bring in some interest for at least the beginning, and Smackdown in particular will help. Smarks will be more inclined to tune in when there's no spoilers, and casual fans get to watch a fresh lineup on a shorter show, without having to deal with watching a 3 hour Raw.
I try to be positive about WWE. If you don't enjoy it, there's no shortage of other wrestling.

I realize that. I'm just saying that WWE is just as capable of putting on great matches with the amount of high quality talent they have, and it boggles my mind that the shows have been awful as of late.

Quick bullet points for the last week or so:
Final Deletion was wacky and a little low-rent, but I'll give Matt credit for trying to make TNA something other then a lower-rent WWE clone.
Balor vs. Nakamura was lit, and the Cruiserweight Classic is fun and different.
Brock got flagged by USADA for a drug test from before UFC. Not too surprising, honestly, but it'll be interesting to see how WWE responds. If he just gets a standard first offense suspension, though, he'll be back for SummerSlam and it won't matter anyway.
