2013 Brickyard 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Indianapolis
Last time out, Brian Vickers won in emotional fashion at Loudon by beating out Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and others.
Last year, Jimmie Johnson dominated and.....you all know the rest.
What will happen this year? We'll find out Sunday.

After what I saw at Eldora last night, I don't think anything can top it for this weekend. Even if there wasn't a truck race at Eldora last night, I probably still wouldn't watch it.

Will be at this race like every year (In turn 1). Hopefully it's more exciting than last year or there's a new Brickyard winner at least.

Step 1: cover Indianapolis racing surface in dirt then hold race
Step 2: ?????????
Step 3: quietly remove dirt and sell as souveniers
Step 4: PROFIT and an... interesting race.

I think that's about one of the only places I haven't sat at the Brickyard. With how nice its going to be Sunday, I kinda wish I was going, but I would much rather go to IRP. Too bad NASCAR doesn't race there anymore :/

This is the only race on the schedule I literally do not want to watch. The Indy 500 was GOAT though.

From what I know, I'm so surprised that there are at least 10 drivers or less that I thought would've won a race already this year, haven't. The 48 team will just blow them out of the windows or the rest of the year.

My favorite Indy driver gets pole for the 500 and my favorite Nascar driver gets it for the Brickyard. I'm pretty excited.

Already a two-man race between Newman and Johnson.

Re: 2013 Brickyard 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Indianapolis
I was watching the new ARLA race towards the end of the cup race, noticed some funny coincidences:
NASCAR pole sitter's car number: 39
ARLA race 2 pole sitter's car number: 39
both retook the lead via pit stops, and then the coincidence was ruined when the ARLA 39 wrecked. I also noticed that the second place in the 400 was number 48, and the second place in race 2 of the ARLA race was number 84. (yes, I know no one cares, just think it's neat)

And this is the guy that's being fired, just so Danica can keep her seat. Great call, Tony. Hiring your boy Harvick? Yeah, I get that. Tossing Newman aside? No.

I was kinda hoping for a caution cause Kahne had the fastest car on the track in that last run, but I'm satisfied with that finish. Really no one near the front I don't like, either. Great ending to a fairly decent race by Brickyard standards.

Comparatively to recent years, that was a pretty solid Brickyard race. And off course, I'm beyond excited to see Ryan Newman wins this race. I've always wanted to see him do it. This definitely helps him in his hunt for a ride next year.

5 bucks says it's NASCAR influenced that Stewart is keeping Danica around.

I don't know, I think crl has a legitimate point, IMO.
I guess it was an okay race by Indy standards, but that's not really saying much, TBH. Really surprised Newman was able to hold Johnson at bay. Good win by Newman, and I think this will keep him relevant for at least a little while longer. Nice recovery by Junior as well, finishing 6th after a loose wheel at the beginning of the race.
The 2013 Brickyard 400 @ Indy gets a 3.5/10.

I'm too lazy to find examples but I'm sure its nothing new. Wasn't Johnny Sauter a rookie in 2004 and shunted aside mid season in favor of Burton? In the 30 AOL car if I remember correctly.Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:crl wrote:And this is the guy that's being fired, just so Danica can keep her seat. Great call, Tony. Hiring your boy Harvick? Yup.
It's one thing to be a rookie in a mid-field team. Stewart-Haas is not a mid-field team. Even for a Rookie, Danica should be doing better than what she has been doing.

or they signed her for more than one year. if NASCAR did that sort of thing, we would have heard about it by now. how could they do that, anyway?

Have we been watching the same team? Up until this week, where has SHR been? Tony got lucky at Dover (I'll be the first to say it). But, let's be honest here, what has Newman really done since joining SHR? That's why he was let go.

Yup. This has been their worst year so far, I'd say, but its improved greatly the last several weeks.Sparkz47 wrote:day500champ1 wrote:Have we been watching the same team? Up until this week, where has SHR been?
