2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
http://www.jayski.com/news/stats/2013/story/_/page/17-Kentucky-2013-Entry-List
Last week, Martin Truex Jr. won at Sonoma, CA after breaking a 218-race winless streak.
Last year in this race, series champ Brad Keselowski pulled off a huge victory in the second annual race where the year before it was famous for the infamous traffic jam.
Who will come out on top? We'll find out Saturday night.

Bobby Labonte's consecutive start streak will end at 704 races after JTG Daugherty dumped him. But don't, cause Brad Daugherty says Bobby is still their guy even though he's not driving for them.

Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Bobby Labonte's consecutive race streak of 704 starts comes to an untimely and depressing end at the hands of the shady JTG Daugherty Racing organization. On top of that, Labonte's last two starts have ended with a 43rd place finish. A.J. Allmendinger will drive the #47 for the second time this season.
This is also first time since the 1978 L.A. Times 500 that a "Labonte" will not race in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Apparently Bobby was offered several rides for other teams, but he graciously turned those offers down, stating that he didn't want to ruin somebody's race by taking their ride away from them. I guess that show's the kind of guy Labonte is.

I'm glad Bobby's giving someone else another shot to perform. I know people like him but Bobby's time has come.

What you guys don't realize is Packer is still stuck in traffic from the 2011 race.

For your information, they didn't "dump him". They have temporarily took him out the seat and put AJ in just for evaluating the team. Aj isn't there to replace him as this is only happening for four more races.
Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
If thats the case, then I can only predict that Bobby Labonte will hang up his helmet after the Season Finale this year.
Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
I have to agree. I love Bobby and think he's one of the greats of the sport, but he doesn't want to be remembered on the level of Darrell Waltrip and how he ended his career.Alta wrote:I'm glad Bobby's giving someone else another shot to perform. I know people like him but Bobby's time has come.

On a green and very bumpy track as well, we could have a good one on our hands..

Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Ok, I need to rant for a minute. The design of the bracing in the front of these cars is all wrong. Nascar really needs to do something about it. It's either way too stiff at the bottom near the splitter or way too weak at the top near the hood. Every damn time someone hits another car, the top of the nose is pushed back and the bottom isn't and it collapses into a wedge shape, lifting the other car off the ground. It's been doing this since friken 2007 and not a damn thing has been done to address it.
I'd say something needs to be done before a car ends up in the stands but THAT ALREADY FREAKING HAPPENED.
\rant
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread

Well, in the course of 75 laps, we went from generic land to bizarro land and back to generic land. Okay.

I am a Kurt Busch fan, but that was a pretty dumb move by him. At least he apologised to the 2 team.

Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Horrible break for Vickers and Allmendinger there. I was kinda hoping it would go green to see what happens but this could be interesting as well.

And just like that, two Hendrick drivers take themselves out of contention for the win. That sucks :/

Damn. Was really hoping Jamie would've won.
Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Bleggghh. Wow, that was about as God-awful a race as you could get. While there were a few midfield battles that were kind of interesting, for the most part, this race was a single-file borefest. Much like the Coca-Cola 600, it got to the point where I didn't care who won the race. I just wanted it to end. The only saving grace is that this race was only 400 miles compared to 600.
This race is definitely a contender for worst race of the year, IMO. Why this track got a Cup date is beyond me. Three races, three borefests. 'Nuff said. This date needs to go to a track that can actually produce exciting racing. Maybe a certain road course in Texas...?
The 2013 Quaker State 400 @ Kentucky gets a 2.0/10.

Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Good win for Kenseth. That team looks to be the favorites going into the Chase if they don't have their annual start of Chase engine failures. Woulda liked to see what would've happened if McMurray could have passed Bowyer quicker, but nice to see him back into the top five. Also nice recovery by quite a few drivers there are the end.

Yeah, I'd agree that Kenseth may be the man to beat in the Chase this year, as long as their engines stay together.

I watched the first part of the race and was looking like it would be interesting. Part of that was because of the attrition. Then I decided to turn the TV off 75 laps into the race since it felt like it was going into its usual bore-fest.

This.. would've loved McMurray winning, but gw Kenseth.
Jimmie, stop complaining

Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
Marked the fuck out when Ambrose was 3rd with 20 to go. Unfortunately no tyres in the end bite me, but a top 15 with the way he's been running this season is still good. And I was actually pulling for McMurray at the end there too. At least [Larry Mac]IF DA CHASE WERE TO START NOW[/Larry Mac] Jimmie would not be in the lead.
Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
I hate to say it, but it looks like it was more than the car over at JTG Daugherty Racing. I like Bobby Labonte, but I think it's about time to either hang the helmet up, race part-time in Cup, or move down to the Nationwide or Truck Series. Allmendinger is pretty much a guarantee for a full-time ride next year, whether it be in Nationwide with Penske, or in Cup with either JTG Daugherty, Richard Petty Motorsports (perhaps at Penske's request), or even in a third Penske car. He's been impressive in pretty much any NASCAR ride he's been in this season.

Will he fully retire or randomly show like his brother.
Re: 2013 Quaker State 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Kentucky Speedway
This is McMurray's first top five since August of 2011! I'd like to know how long it would've taken him to catch Kenseth. It's nice to see Ganassi contending for top 5's again!
Did I miss something that happened to Edwards? After a good start to the race, he fell all the way back to 21st...
