Anime/Manga Thread
Since I like to post stuff that relates to Toonami often and a majority of us are Toonami fans, I feel like it would be best to make a thread just for Toonami instead of half the posts on RTD being about Toonami. So feel free to discuss anything involving Toonami.
Oh, I also found this video today:
MFW I saw what number 1 was:
EDIT: The funniest part about it is that this promo got almost as many views in 4 days as the DVD trailer did in almost 2 months.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I just found out that Jason DeMarco (who works for Cartoon Network) made an announcement about some schedule changes for Toonami on his twitter account, effective October 6th.
So nothing changes from 12-2 am. Thundercats and Sym-Bionic Titan will move into the 2-3 am slot, while FMA:B will run from 3-4 am, Ghost in the Shell 4-5 am, and Cowboy Bebop from 5-6 am. The only thing I'm upset about is that Cowboy Bebop is back on the schedule (rather quickly). Other than that, I think this schedule change shows that Toonami's doing very well.
Link to the schedule line up.

I'm happy to announce that we will also be running the great SYM-BIONIC TITAN, and the also great new THUNDERCATS! Also, BEBOP will make it's return, running from 5a-6a. Finally, this Saturday we'll start running a new lineup spot that gives you the whole rundown, which will air every night for a whole. Hope this news makes you guys as happy, as it does us, and finally- fuuuuuudge THE INTERNET FOR SPOILING EVERYTHING. <3

BUMP:
So about that Tenchi Muyo! GXP series...I know this is only the first episode, but I'm already missing Casshern Sins. That episode was just...what??? Watching it was like watching the life of Bad Luck Brian, or watching a parody series some amateur made on YouTube. I really hope this is the only episode where it's like that, because if not, then I'm most likely not going to watch it.
As for the other shows, I've been enjoying watching them, especially Samurai 7. That show has been picking up some momentum as of late. I've been enjoying the action Bleach has to offer but I haven't watched enough of the series to know what's going on. Eureka Seven's a pretty good show. The music soundtrack and the animation's top notch. Yeah, the show has its flaws but some of what the show has makes up for it. Thundercats and Sym-Bionic Titan's okay. I'm not that willing to watch Toonami past 2 A.M. so I end up watching them online. Same goes for the other shows that air past that time.

Bump...with a lot of announcements and news.
First, we have this line-up for next weekend. Appropriately enough, they'll be airing a movie...on the weekend Toonami made it's debut on Cartoon Network 16 years ago:
12:00 – Bleach
12:30 – Naruto
01:00 – Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone
03:30 – FMA Brotherhood
04:00 – Cowboy Bebop
04:30 – Cowboy Bebop
05:00 – Inuyasha
05:30 – Inuyasha
Second, TOM 5, Absolution 3 (there's a picture of it but it's hard to make of it), and a new Toonami logo (which hasn't been seen yet) will make its debut in April.
Last, but not least, One Piece will be aired sometime this year but hasn't been confirmed when and what episode the series will start off. Either way, this is a big deal.
That is all.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
Alright. I'll be honest here. This was my first time watching anything that has to do with EVA, besides watching Eureka Seven, of course. Don't worry. I plan on watching the EVA series when I get the time. Anyway, here are my thoughts on the movie:
I thought it wasn't bad, but I didn't find it all that interesting, IMO. The way Shinji was treated was just flat-out wrong. So wrong, his father (along with a few others working for Nerv) made Holland Novak look like a nice guy. I really felt bad for Shinji throughout most of the movie but his low self-esteem got really annoying after a while. I couldn't pick out a single thing that had any flaw in the movie, which should be expected in a movie. While the animation was really amazing, it really didn't make much up for me on how bad Shinji was treated. I did like how the movie ended on a nice and touching note, so I'm hoping the sequal will be a lot better than the first.
When watching E7, I was pretty irritated by how Holland was abusing Renton in the first half of the series, but the way Shinji was treated, especially by his own father, it got me really worked up about it. Then again, what do I know since I've never seen any of the original series? Being that I haven't watched it before, who knows how things play out in the end? I'm guessing they might play the 2nd movie on Memorial Day Weekend since it will officially be the 1 year mark since Toonami was revived. Well, it's time to catch up on some sleep!

Bump...with some schedule changes:
On April 27th, Tom 5 and Absolution 3 will make its debut on that weekend, along with IGPX returning on Toonami at 2 A.M., moving Symbionic Titan to 3:30 A.M., FMA:B to 4 A.M., meaning Cowboy Bebop will be airing once a night now.
On May 18th, One Piece will officially be back airing at 1 A.M., bumping Soul Eater down to 1:30 A.M., moving Thundercats to 3 A.M. and replacing Tenchi Muyo GXP (THANK GOD). Toonami has decided to resume the series at Episode 207, which is when the "Ling Ring Long Land" Arc starts. Funimation is apparently making a series review for Toonami for viewers (including myself) that haven't seen One Piece before.
I would hate having to play catch up on 200 episodes of One Piece, especially when I just got done marathoning through Naruto and Shippuden, without watching the filler episodes, of course. I'm debating on if I should go ahead and watch all of the episodes or just watch some of the reviews. Any thoughts?

I wish I got to watch Naruto the first time it aired on Toonami. For a kids show, it's amazing. As someone who marathoned it last month and is in college, I found it hard to get into it. The action and character development is great, I think the pacing of it (along with a billion flashbacks), is what made it hard for me to get into the show. It'll be a while before I'll start watching it again. I hope I'll like One Piece a lot more than Naruto.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I liked it until the Chunin exam arc and that's when I absolutely loved it. I missed about three episodes a bit after that and was too lost to get back into it at the time. I suppose the nostalgia will probably make me continue to love it. I didn't watch nearly as much One Piece as I did Naruto, but I would imagine it's a better show to an unbiased viewer. I've certainly never seen any hate for One Piece whereas every mention of Naruto I've ever seen on the internet has been negative.RealRacer4 wrote:vbooy57 wrote:I recall loving that show as a kid, but I also loved each episode of Naruto as well.RealRacer4 wrote:I would hate having to play catch up on 200 episodes of One Piece, especially when I just got done marathoning through Naruto and Shippuden, without watching the filler episodes, of course. Is there anything new rather then restarting old series with 10 billion episodes?RealRacer4 wrote:Bump...with some schedule changes:

Along with Bleach, they're airing episodes that actually haven't premiered on Toonami yet, but I get where you're coming from. Fans want to see Toonami expand to 11 P.M., and both Symbionic Titan and Thundercats have finished their run, and could get replaced at some point. On some nights, some of the Toonami shows have had better ratings than the 11 and 11:30 P.M. shows, which I don't care about at all. So lets cross our fingers for that and hope they'll air shows that actually haven't premiered on Toonami yet.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
With How Toonami has been doing ratings-wise It's possible to see that happen soon enough.
I'm thinking that (and this is all my speculation) airing Anime fans here call "The Big 3" (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) is to at least gain some stability for Toonami to at least have a partially consistent schedule (Bleach still has about a year worth of episodes left at least, Naruto has about..well..at least a DECADE counting both pre-timeskip and Shippuden and it's not finished, and One Piece has 6 years as of #207 onwards worth of episodes and counting...) so at least there's something constant that people are going to tune into.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I decided to change the thread title so it doesn't sound as broad as it did before.
A friend of mine told me about this new anime the other day called "Attack on Titan". Even though it's only 5 episodes in, it's been generating quite a buzz and Funimation is already subbing them and is airing it on their channel. I haven't seen any episodes yet but from what I've seen, the animation looks really impressive. I want to wait until all of the episodes have been aired, hear what everyone's final opinion is on it and then start watching it after.
Apparently, the manga version comes out monthly and is only 45 chapters in, so it could be a while before we'll get an ending. I don't know if any of you have watched or heard anything about it yet but it looks pretty interesting.
Funimation made a trailer for it for those who are curious:
EDIT: Well, I just got done watching the first 5 episodes of the series. Wow. Everything about it is amazing. I don't think I've seen such amazing animation, art, and detail from an anime series before. The music's awesome, as well as the characters and storyline. The people working on this show did a really great job of capturing the moments. Not to mention, the humor is great too. I also haven't seen characters in an anime that are as close to real life as Attack on Titan. I hope they can keep this up because I've been really enjoying watching it so far.

Well Attack on Titan is definitely one anime that starts up pretty quick like I mentioned in my earlier post. I can't think of any other anime at the moment since I've been playing catch up with One Piece. There's a couple of other anime I know of but I don't think the action stuff you may be referring to might fit in that category.

Bumping this thread since this weekend will be the one year mark of Toonami being revived.
I don't think a lot of people, including myself, expected Toonami to be where they are at now. They're airing Naruto AND One Piece, an epic series called Deadman Wonderland made its mark in the U.S. thanks to Toonami, a new Absolution and Tom has been made (along with the revival of Sara), a movie night took place, and a lot more to come in the next year. With that said, here's to all of the Adult Swim employees that have put a lot of time and dedication into making what Toonami is today given what they had to start out with a year ago.

I do know for a fact that a 12th volume is coming out for the manga version this weekend. I did hear a while back that one of the guys working at Funimation saying that there's a possibility of making a 2nd season because of the sales here. I guess we'll have to wait and see on how the sales will turn out in Japan for its latest volume.

I guess we'll have to wait and see on how the sales will turn out in Japan for its latest volume.
This is very good news that there's even a chance. The next part of the manga is awesome.
And Alta, if you enjoyed Deadman Wonderland, you may like Mirai Nikki. It has the dark, bloody vibe that Deadman had. Plus, the two main characters are fairly similar to Ganta and Shiro. It's dub is not being released until August, but it's plenty good subbed. Just my recommendation.
I've decided to watch Redline tonight to gear up for race weekend!

Heh, I know what you mean. I prefer English dubs as well. I can watch a sub, but it's not my favorite thing to do.

While I would want to put my 2 cents on the whole subbing and dubbing deal...I want to announce Toonami's next acquisition
Sword Art Online
The series from my recollection has a bit of similarities to the .hack series if anyone remembers. Got some great music with a opening by one of my favorite Japanese Artists (LiSA) and my favorite composers (Yuki Kaijura)

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I was wondering if Funimation was rushing to get Attack on Titan on Toonami since they were making acquisitions so early but that pretty much answers that. Anyway, I find it interesting as well that SAO be aired on Toonami. I've never had any interest in watching it but I've heard some people complain the show's not that great but I guess we'll see how this series will turn out.

Good lord. I'm looking at the reactions from numerous forum sites about SAO premiering on Toonami. So much hate for this show. I hope it's nothing like Tenchi Muyo GXP or Code Geass (sorry Alta).

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
SAO is a series that's VERY polarizing, there are a lot of reasons for this, it's mainly either the characters, the way technology is used in this, or the writing.
The way this series gets reactions kind of reminds me of Naruto at times.

I couldn't resist posting this. So Tom just rated a perfect score for a video game he reviewed last night. I heard Tom also gave Super Mario Sunshine a perfect score. Then...I found this.
Out of all the bumps, promos, and review games I've watched online, I'm just learning now he did a game review on Starcraft. Now I want Tom to do a Starcraft 2 review game.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
Just recently, I decided to do something fun for everyone that's a member of this forum. I've noticed that are quite a few anime/manga fans, which gave me an idea to something monthly. Every month, everyone will come up with a list of whatever it may be. With that said, what are your 5 most/least favorite anime shows? It can be any anime show and doesn't have to be in any order. For me, this is my personal list of shows that I liked/didn't like:
Most favorite shows:
Least favorite shows:
Most favorite shows:
- Spoiler:
- 5) Elfen Lied- I just got done watching this recently and my god, this anime was amazing. This blew my mind away from pretty much everything in this show. The gore, humor, backstories, and a rather calming intro. The only problem I had with this show was the ending. WHY would they end it on a cliffhanger, not only at the end of an episode, but a series that hasn't gotten a second season?! I know the same thing can be said about Deadman Wonderland (for now) but I honestly felt like it killed the tone of the whole series. Still, I enjoyed the hell out of the show. I've heard about the manga and have plans of reading this soon.
4) Eureka Seven- Before I get into this, I know that not everyone likes this show. After watching it a couple of times, I can see why it gets criticized. I don't think I've ever gotten as emotional as I did when I watched this series. I never teared up, but I got pretty close a couple of times. The animation is incredible, as for the soundtrack and character development. It's series I'll never get tired of watching no matter how many times I watch it.
3) Dragonball Z- How can you not put this on the list? We've watched Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh, but this show is what really got me into anime. DBZ is easily the most successful anime of all time. You won't see much more crazy action and epic soundtrack (if you're watching the Funi dub) than this series.
2) Deadman Wonderland- The first successful anime since Toonami's revival. This show takes everything to a whole new level with all of the gore and fast-pace action involved. The only reason this isn't number one is because a 2nd season has yet to be made. Still haven't given hope on it yet!
1) Neon Genesis Evangelion- At first, I didn't know what to think of this series, but after giving it some thought, I have to say that this was the best anime I've ever seen. Considering that this was made in the '90s, the animation and music is really good. Hideaki Anno really knows how to make it insanely intense and leave you at a loss for words, especially with EoE. I've been watching the Rebuild series as well and I've liked it even more. I'm looking forward to the dub of 3.33 and the final movie of the Rebuild. There's all sort of controversy that surround the series and leaving me speechless the way it did is what made me like the show so much.
Least favorite shows:
- Spoiler:
- 5) Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden- I really want to like the series overall but I have a couple of problems with this series. It not the fillers I have a problem with. The animation, especially in Shippuden, is terrible. I haven't watched the whole series, but I probably won't finish watching it until the show finishes up in Japan. I would rather avoid all of the filler and not have to wait for an episode every week. Speaking of filler, if they planned on making 80+ episodes of filler so the anime doesn't catch up to the manga, they should've ended the first part, don't make any episodes for a year or 2, and then go on with the sequal.
4) Bleach- Another mainstream anime with a bunch of fillers that I'm not too crazy about. I haven't followed the series very much but I don't think you need to watch many episodes to know that it's not that great of a series. It's pretty bad that half of the episodes in this series are filler. The action isn't that bad, but the fact that not only there's so much filler, but the filler is hard to watch doesn't make the series worth watching.
3) Eureka Seven: AO- Oh boy. Whether it's a sequal to E7 or just another series, it was rather disappointing to watch, especially the ending of the series. There was a bunch of action, but there wasn't much explanation on what was going on. It had a lot of potential but the staff wasted a lot of money on what could have been a great series. It had its epic moments throughout the series, but in the end, it left a lot of people scratching their heads.
2) Code Geass- I could go on all day about this show but I'm just going to keep this short by saying that the show was terribly written, a lot of things were left unexplained, and a lot of what went on made no sense at all.
1) Tenchi Muyo GXP- Good god, this was such a terrible show. From the 3 or 4 episodes I've seen on Toonami, the attempt at making it funny was the worst attempt I've ever seen. There was never really a moment where it got really interesting at all. Terrible, terrible series.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
Hmm... this might be tough, but I think I have a top five here:
Top 5:
My least favorite:
Top 5:
- Spoiler:
5. Mirai Nikki/Future Diary: This is one wild series. The dark atmosphere combined with tons of gore and violence combine to create one of the most twisted anime I have ever watched. Yuno Gasai made the show, and because of that she is my favorite female anime character. I loved how most of the series consisted of one fantasy aspect/item in a realistic world with realistic weaponry. (hard to phrase and describe that last sentence)
4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: This is one of the few series where I don't dislike a single character in it. The series is well paced and plotted, highly comical, and has many well done depressing parts too. The last sixteen or so episodes were some of the most entertaining I have ever watched. Btw, Roy Mustang is a badass. (one of my very favorite characters)
3. Dragon Ball Z: One of my very first anime, DBZ will always hold a special place in my heart. I re-watched the series a year and a half ago and saw that it still stands up very well today. Sure, the pacing (10 episodes to create the spirit bomb for example) and some character decisions were irrational, but that is part of the reason I like it so much. The characters were great and had unique personalities, the villains were sinister, and the music was awesome. Btw, Vegeta is a badass. (my very favorite character)
2. Deadman Wonderland: While many didn't have the positive view on this anime like many people on this site have, I absolutely loved Deadman Wonderland. From the dark, gritty, bloody atmosphere, to the well written characters, Deadman Wonderland is a carnival ride that twists turns, and barely slows down. After catching up to the current issue of the manga, I really hope this show gets at least a second season. The next arc is my favorite of them all.
1. Death Note: If there was an anime I could almost call perfect, it would be Death Note. In this 37 episode anime, there were only two or so episodes that I felt were just "good". The idea to create the anime from the villain's point of view (in my opinion at least) was genius. The clash between Light and L has ended up being my favorite anime rivalry I have seen thus far. It's one of the greatest cases of cat and mouse I have ever seen that has a bittersweet, but well written ending. Many didn't like season 2, but I did myself. All in all, it's still my favorite.
My least favorite:
- Spoiler:
I must say before I start this, if you like any of these shows that's great. That's your opinion and I respect it. Go ahead and enjoy whatever show you think is awesome. Anywho, in no particular order:
Naruto: The character really turned me off this series. I found them annoying and unlikable, and I couldn't support any of them. The filler was overbearing too.
Chaos;Head: I really liked Steins;Gate, so I decided to watch this. It started with interesting ideas, but it progressively started to nosedive into the ground. The character development was erratic and made no sense whatsoever. The plot was all over the place and there were a bunch of holes. Some of the line writing was unintentionally funny too.
Darker than BLACK: Season 2 (only): While not the best I've ever seen, DTB's first season was a solid show. The second season took a crap on what season 1 was and made it horrible. Hei, the main character, turned from a badass who beat up villains to a drunk who beats up little girls. There were still a bunch of lingering questions when the season ended that were not answered clearly at all in the 12 episode run.
Dragon Ball GT: Now this is my very least favorite. Very simlarly to DTBS2, GT was one of the those sequels that was pathetic compared to its predecessor. The series created plot holes by negating what was said the prior two series. Goku changing back to a child was unneeded and didn't add anything to the series. He didn't have the ignorance and naivety that he had in Dragon Ball, so it wasn't nearly as entertaining. Many of the characters we had grown to love in the last two series completely disappeared without much explanation. Krillin and Piccolo's lack of real purpose was particularly annoying. Only one of the three villains stuck out to me, being Baby.

Most Favorite
Least Favorite:
- Spoiler:
5. Soul Eater - I found it to be very entertaining, Bit comedic yes....but still got serious when it came to the storyline aspect of the show. Kind of fell of the rails when the got off the manga part of the story and the ending was nothing but a cop-out. But still a very fun show with interesting characters
4. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Thought the first series was quite unfinished when it came to the end and was kind of lacking in the tightness of the story/ so needless to say i was interested when a second series came-up. Much tighter storyline and got straight to the point without suffering the constant filler that occurs in more longer series.
3. Gurren Lagann - Fuck Logic: The Anime. Very entertaining show with the message behind it of "Nothing is impossible." With some of the most badass characters I've seen in any series. Lots of fun in this one. Some nice comedy bits there as well.
2. Deadman Wonderland - One of the darkest and more gore filled shows i've ever seen and despite being a very short with 12 episodes. It was entertaining as whole and got straight to the point with the storyline. Shiro is the waifu-material homewrecker, Ganta wants to prove his name, and crow is the badass who dun give a fuck!
1. Code Geass - I respect Realracer's opinion (Albeit i can udnerstand issues like the writing as the series had more plot-twists then Vince Russo booked WCW)...but i absolutely disagree with it. The storyline to me felt well tied together and everything had a motive/swerve all that galore. The plot of changing the world for your little sister by doing the darkest evils i personally enjoyed and along with few other thing pretty much got me to fall in love with the series. The ending is the best i've seen anyway.
Least Favorite:
- Spoiler:
5. Inuyasha - Going to admit that when it first came i actually kind of liked the series...but then getting further into it i realized it was FILLER as hell. The dialouge and the fight sequences got repetitive as hell after a while and it just completely turned me off from the series.
4. Naruto series (And to be frank certain series that get past the 100 episode mark) - To much filler and just to many episodes which just makes me want to miss a few episodes then get back into it when they finally get to the point of the arc. The characters weren't really entertaining to me and adding in the series being heavily censored here in the US and it just lost me.
3. Samurai 7 - Just straight up couldn't get into it. Felt like it was slow and plodding and the characters didn't interest me at all.
2. Morobito - It's bad when you get your show taken off the air a couple weeks due to terrible ratings. Just batshit boring and just too slow for me to keep focus when watching it. Didn't get into the plat either.
1. Tenchi Muyo - Only caught a couple episodes and really couldn't figure out if it was serious or just a comedy show. The animation and art was pretty god-awful and the comedy was really unfunny. Just a bad show.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
Bump for Toonami announcements.
Starting July 27th:
-Adult Swim lost the rights to Thundercats
-Sym-Bionic Titan won't be aired for a while
-Sword Art Online will make its debut earlier than expected at 2 A.M. pushing IGPX and Eureka Seven 1/2 an hour back.
-2nd season of Big O will return at 3:30 A.M.
-We have still yet to see what will be replacing E7 when the series ends.
I think this will bring the TV ratings higher than they have been already. I'm personally glad that Thundercats will be gone since I didn't like it that much and Toonami putting SBT to rest (for now). Seeing Big O is a bit of a surprise to me. I'm also really itching to find out what show will be replacing E7. All in all, I like the schedule line-up Toonami has.
EDIT: And now Jason DeMarco (employee of Toonami/Adult Swim) says the backdoor schedule is dead. https://twitter.com/Clarknova1/statuses/350328954864943105
I should clarify that what he means by the "backdoor schedule" is that there's a site you can go on where you can see the upcoming weeks of what will be aired within a month. Now because that no longer exists, people won't find out what their surprise will be until it's announced during the Toonami broadcast.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
Well, it's the start of another month. This time, you'll be listing what anime movies you've watched. My list will be from least to most favorites.
Also, let me know there's any anime movies that I should watch. I'd like to watch a lot more movies than I have so far.
- Spoiler:
- Eureka Seven Movie-Being the crazy E7 fan that I am, I decided to check the movie out of curiousity. Most of the scenes in the movie are copied from the TV series, the Gekko State crew were the antagonists (terrible ones I might add, which annoyed me quite a bit), and there wasn't really a plot at all. Though, there were some aspects that I did end up liking more than what the TV series had, but other than that, it's not worth watching, IMO. Rating: 6.0 out of 10.
Yu-Gi-Oh Movie- Yeah. I forgot the actual title of the movie, but I do remember watching this the day it premiered in theaters. I can't remember much of the plot but still enjoyed it none the less. Rating: 7.5 out of 10.
FMA:B Movie-I liked the movie but I felt like it didn't really stand out that much from the other movies I've watched. If you have a lot of free time, watching this won't hurt. Rating: 8.0 out of 10.
Pokemon Movie Series- I've watched the first 3 movies quite a few times and really enjoyed it. Out of the 3 I've watched, I consider the 2nd one to be a personal favorite. Overall, I rate them at an 8.5 out of 10.
DBZ Movies- I've watched just about every one of the DBZ movies except for the one that came out this year. I really loved how when these movies first premiered in the U.S., it used some of the songs from bands like Finger Eleven, Disturbed, and hell, even Pantera in the first Broly movie. The Broly (1st one), Cooler (both), and the Bojack movies were my personal favorites. As a whole, I'd rate all of the movies an 8.5 out of 10.
Cowboy Bebop Movie- This was an anime movie that I really enjoyed. With this being made years after the TV series, the movie had quite an upgrade as far as the animation. As usual, it has its awesome characters and fight scenes. Rating: 9.0 out of 10.
Redline- Does anything need to be said about unbelievably great the animation is? It honestly looks like a Western Cartoon Production and would perfectly fit into Adult Swim's program. Given what little time they had, the writers did a good job to at least briefly explain some of the backstories behind each character and the plot. Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
EVA Rebuild Series:
1) We all know that the first movie is a recap of the first 6 episodes of the original series along with some scenes being cut out, changed around, new scenes added, etc. The way I look at it, it's pretty much a showcase of the updated animation and new songs for the movie. Rating: 8.75 out of 10.
2) The second movie takes the cake. By far, my favorite anime movie to date. I was amazed at how the second movie outdid the whole TV series, focusing on some of the aspects that the original series never really touched base on. I consider this movie to be flawless. Character building, OST, animation, action, just about everything, really was phenomenal. Rating: 10 out of 10.
3) I watched the sub of the 3rd movie, and was rather disappointing compared to the previous movie. You're left completely confused for half of the movie and even if they explain some of what happened in the middle of the movie, you're still feeling confused. Then again, this is Hideaki Anno that makes these movies. It's hard to say how the 4th and final movie will play out. For now, I'll rate this a 7.5 out of 10 and consider this a set-up movie for the 4th movie.
Also, let me know there's any anime movies that I should watch. I'd like to watch a lot more movies than I have so far.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I just started Cowboy Bebop, and I'm really enjoying it. Can't wait to watch the movie one of these days.
Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I'm only going to post movies that I've watch but haven't been listed yet
There are more in here I just have to remember which they are.
- GamerAzuzu's Movie list.:
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
If anyone has kept track of the series then this was the arc that had been anticipated to be the second season....then Endless Eight happened, and many people got pissed off. Well this turned out to be more than WORTH having to deal with E8 because this was a season of its own in a movie, there is some good development from a lot of the main cast, and best of all, best cameo from a Windows 95 era computer!
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings
The Retelling of the first half of the Madoka Magica anime, and while there aren't that many differences to the series, there are some new details and the movie animation has really improved.
Part 2 Eternal: Same deal as Part 1, yet some how everything feels more...natural and expanded, I may have already seen the series but this movie really helped me connect to the series, I'm anticipating the 3rd movie which will be a continuation.
Gurren Lagaan Movie Part 1: Childhoods End
...What do I need to say about the series itself? It's Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan aka "Fuck Logic" the anime. The movie didn't disappoint on that regard, and somehow managed to make the first half of the story even better.
Part 2: The Lights in the Sky are Stars
Take what I said about Part 1 and multiply by 10 because this movie was just incredible. Yes both were essentially revisiting the main story but the amount of extra footage especially at the final fight was just so incredible I just didn't care it was a recap!
The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyoukai) Movies:
I. LOVE. THESE. MOVIES. The animation is beautiful, the voice work is beautiful, and the soundtrack for this is just so perfect. It's also how I got my love for Yuki Kaijura's and Kalafina's work. And yes this is for all 7 movies!
There are more in here I just have to remember which they are.

Just a hunch, but I think either Guilty Crown or Future Diary will take the open Toonami time slot down the road. Both of those are coming out on DVD this August and have some pretty high popularity. Just a feeling.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
^I was wondering if Attack on Titan would be replacing E7 since it's gotten so popular in Japan and Funimation getting the rights so early. There was a Q&A session recently on the Toonami Tumblr page and the staff said that they don't want to air it until all of the AoT episodes have premiered in Japan. Also, the staff said IGPX will have a 2nd run so I'm thinking that the show will most likely replace Soul Eater when it finishes its run on Toonami.

Hands down, one of the best, if not, THE best TOM speech I have ever heard. With all of what's going on with the George Zimmerman trial, this couldn't have premiered at a much better time.

Re: Anime/Manga Thread
I know it's not officially August until tomorrow, but I'm going to start up another list anyway (I'll explain why later on). For August we'll do a list of manga we've read or want to read. The manga version of Deadman Wonderland just finished, Soul Eater will be releasing their last chapter in mid August, a bunch of manga series have ended or about to end, Bleach and Naruto are reaching towards their climax, and One Piece...well...we all know that won't end anytime soon. Anyway here's my list:
Now, the reason why I started the anime/manga list a little early:
Once a month, the Toonami staff do a Q&A session on their Tumblr page with the fans, and there are a couple of big announcements that have been made today on their official Tumblr page.
First big announcement: Toonami will be airing The Clone Wars as Eureka 7's replacement starting August 17th. I wasn't expecting a big show to replace E7 since they recently started airing SAO, but this surprised me a bit. I wasn't into it that much when I first watched it but I'll tune in to watch since I haven't seen it in a while. Also, they're removing the filler out of the series, which should help the TV ratings a bit.
Second big announcement (or even bigger announcement): On August 31st, Toonami will have a movie night. A lot of you will guess that it's Evangelion 2.22, and it is! Unlike EVA 1.11, the plot is different from the TV Series. There's some scenes you'll notice that may be similar if you've watched NGE but everything else have pretty much changed. There's no idea as to what time it will air though.
Also, JMac and I have accounts on an anime/manga forum site MyAnimeList (or MAL). It's a big community there and if you're interested, feel free to make an account. Me and JMac are feeling pretty lonely over there.
- Manga I've Read/Plan to Read:
- Deadman Wonderland: The first manga series I've ever read, and enjoyed every second of it. I think the ending was a bit rushed (though, it's understandable given the circumstances), but I liked everything else about DW. The gore, action, characters, drawing, etc. I hope an announcement will come around soon for a 2nd season to be made, at least just for the U.S. anyway.
Eureka Seven: The plot for this manga is completely different from the anime, but has the same characters and somewhat of a similar storyline. I'd actually recommend to people reading this. the reason being: the same mangaka that made the manga version of E7 is the same person that created the Deadman Wonderland series. With that said, it has some of the gore that DW has and dark moments. The only major problem I have is that it's only 24 chapters long. I think if there was an unlimited amount of time in making this series, I think it could've been a masterpiece of its own, IMO.
Soul Eater: Another manga that I've been following and enjoyed reading. You can easily say that this can have a much better ending than the anime version did. I'd be more surprised if there WON'T be a reboot made for this series given how much praise it's gotten.
Berserk: I've read a couple of chapters so far and enjoy it. I hope to read some more when I have the time.
Evangelion: I never even knew there was a manga version for it. I heard it has a different plot too. They just came out with the last chapter a month or 2 ago so I plan on reading it as well.
Pandora Hearts: This is one manga I've always wanted to read. It looks very interesting and have heard a lot of good things about. Another manga I plan on reading when it finishes up.

- MRW I found out EVA 2.22 will be aired on Toonami:
Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked for this. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you'll be in for a treat. My favorite anime movie I've watched to this day.
