The Prom Thread
I decided to start this thread about proms because I just had my Junior prom last night. I can't believe I'm saying this, but my soph hop was better than my junior prom. Not many people showed up for junior prom. In fact, so few people showed up from our class that we had to blend the junior prom with the 10th graders soph hop. Though on the bright side I did win prom king. Don't congratulate me though, seriously don't. I won it by default on the account that I was the only boy from school to show up.

>Mentioned nothing about hooking up with a bunch of girls
Not that many high schools I knew of had a Junior Prom. Honestly, I never went to any of the proms. I knew I had the option to go I just didn't feel like going. I'm probably the only one on here saying this.

Your not alone. I didn't go to my high school one, mainly because I was covering the local Rally but also I didn't want to spend any more time with the illiterate, inbred chavs that inhabit the hellhole that I live in. Besides, there was nothing to do but dance and talk, so I think my decision was better.RealRacer4 wrote:>Soph Hop better than Junior Prom

Meh, I don't have any desire to go to prom unless my girlfriend wants to go, in which case I will. Never been to a school dance in Middle or High School, mainly because I don't see the point in it, and I don't like the majority of people.

Re: The Prom Thread
In my school in Canada, we have a prom for the 12th graders, who usually bring some non-12th graders, ironically my birthday is 1 day before the prom & the graduation is the next day, i'm debating if i shall go, but need to find a cute girl in 12th or 11th grade (Which is pretty much impossible since they're all have a BF...). A tradition we have is A BIG Party after the prom.. So I'll see some hangovered people @ the ceremony

Coming from a college student, being prom king doesn't mean jack once you get thrown into the real world. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame while you can.
However, I should also mention that I did go to my high school's prom this year, but only because a good friend of mine asked me to go with her since her parents wouldn't let her go without a date.

I didn't go to Junior Prom because I didn't ask my girlfriend out until after tickets weren't being sold anymore so she just went with friends. I'm going to Senior Prom for sure.

Well since I'm here, wasn't allowed to go to my year 10 formal because I kept bashing up year 8s that year, but my year 12 formal was pretty good, went on a cruise ship around Sydney Harbour.

Never went. Too expensive just to look pretty for a couple nights every year.

Precisely. Seeing some of the picture's an 'acquaintance' of mine shown me, it appeared to be a bunch of overpriced fools being bored for three hours (some people actually look like they're on death row). P.S The 'acquaintance' of mine and his friends turned up to the prom on BMX's. yep.navycook75 wrote:that's one of the reason why I never went.conrail1990 wrote:I never went. Let me be honest with you, we don't usually come across talking about Prom's sometimes or ever for that matter, cos' some people never really have to go to prom unless they feel okay with it. Was there actually any point in making a thread like this? I'm not mad at you, I'm just trying to prove a point in saying that these kind of threads are not so common and stuff like prom's are not spoken about on a regular basis.
Re: The Prom Thread
Didn't go to prom, either. My parents didn't make a lot of money, and I wasn't going to make them spend it on something I didn't want to do in the first place.

Didn't go this year (watched Richmond instead), and I'm not going next year. Such a stupid waste of time, money, and energy. Why would I spend more time than I should with a bunch of people that I hate at a place that I hate? I also love the reactions I get from people when I say I'm not going: "You're going to regret it for the rest of your life!"

Never went to any proms myself, too cheap to pay the fees for tuxedos, and too lazy to actually put one on.
Besides, I would have just stood against a wall all night hoping someone would sneak some beer in.

Re: The Prom Thread
Didn't go to my prom for two reasons.
1. We were too poor for that shit.
2. Even if we weren't, it did not interest me at all.

Re: The Prom Thread
Back on topic, I went to my high school prom and I loved it. I didn't focus on the people I didn't like, and just hung out with my friends. There's actually a video from prom of one of my friends being crowdsurfed.
I'm not going to my Sixth Form prom this year, however, simply because my friends won't go. I'd have loved to go again, but there is so much negative things about it that they won't go. I've been asked to go with someone, but had to say no because it was too late to get a ticket

Went to an all boys school, so ours was mixed with a local girls school about 10 minutes away. My then-girlfriend said it would be shit, so we went to a house party which someone organised instead of it. Much better decision..
