Mercifully, the race ends after 129 of the scheduled 200 laps due to rain, with Tony Stewart winning his 2nd race of the season!

Anyway maybe mother nature will have a say in this.
That F1 race last night was by far the best race of the season so far. Sergio Perez almost pulling off one of the biggest upsets in the series history, battling the conditions throughout the race, driver like Vergne and Senna having career runs by tearing through the field and a whole bunch of drama in general.
This Nascar race is a current contender for worst race of the year, You know it's bad when I've been falling asleep off and on before that red flag. From what I've seen while alert, It's been abysmal.
Yeah, I haven't watched a race. 'Cause I don't want to wait around till 2 or 3am to watch one. I have watched a couple of the re-airings on SPEED, but like I said it just doesn't catch my attention.
I can watch NASCAR, Indycar, and the Rolax (mainly the 24 hours of Daytona), but F1 just doesn't catch my attention. But, of course because I have a different opinion from everyone on here and I don't have a reason that you find suitable, Eric, I get berated for it.
Re: 2012 Auto Club 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Am I the only one who doesn't consider a rain shortened race a win? because the way I see it, to win a race takes skill, and it's pretty easy to not pit when the rain decides to fall.... (it's directed towards people like LOLgano and them who only have one win because of rain)

I'm more annoyed at the implication that the California race is more interesting then that Malaysia race.day500champ1 wrote:

I'd honestly rather watch a re-run of Malaysia then that Cup race. That cup race make Richmond in the last few years look decent.

This is different though. Stewart actually ran well and could've contended for the win unlike the examples of Logano & Reutimann from 2009.

Same here. Then again with Stewart legitimately won a race and he kind of actually passed for the lead.navycook75 wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't consider a rain shortened race a win? because the way I see it, to win a race takes skill, and it's pretty easy to not pit when the rain decides to fall.... Yeah, I never implied the California race was better. Hell two Mexican donkeys racing to the stable is more interesting than a California Sprint Cup race.

people like tone winning in the rain and being competitive before hand, I count as a win, people like LOLgano and Reutimann winning in the rain all because they stayed out while everybody pitted before the red flag came out is what I'm talking about.Alta wrote:Same here. Or Mike Bliss in that Nationwide race at Charlotte in like 09 or 10, think it was 09 though.

Yeah, cause wasn't that the year he got fired for not winning enough while driving for an owner with only 12 wins since 1989?

There is nothing like laughing at a 41 second race highlights video from FoxSports. The only things it showed were Stewart passing Busch, Gordon's pit road error, and Stewart faking coming into the pits.

Re: 2012 Auto Club 400 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
op-35 in Owner Points and guaranteed a starting spot at Martinsville:
#10 moved back into the top 35, falling out was the #83 team by 5 points over the #33 & #10 and has to race into Martinsville.
After Auto Club Speedway, 2012 owners points will be used to set the top-35 in owners points each week.
Rank) Car#-Driver/Team, owners pts, +/-
29) #13-Mears/Germain, 81, +19
30) #93-Kvapil/BK Racing, 80, +18,
31) #32-Schrader/FAS Lane Racing, 80, +18
32) #38-Gilliland/Front Row, 80, +18
33) #34-Ragan/Front Row, 79, +17
34) #10-Reutimann-Patrick/Baldwin, 67, +5
35) #33-Guaghan/Childress, 67, +5 ahead of 36th
these teams / drivers will need to qualify by speed:
36) #83-Cassill/BK Racing, 62, -5 from the top 35
37) #30-Stremme/Inception, 44, -23
38) #21-Bayne/Wood Brothers, 44, -23
39) #26-Wise/Front Row, 43, -24
40) #49-Yeley/Robinson, 42, -25
41) #98-McDowell/Parsons, 40, -27
42) #87-Nemechek/NEMCO, 27, -40
After the race at Auto Club Speedway, the 5th race of the season, teams are NOT locked in past the next race as the owners points change after each race.
For the owner points standings, see the Owners Points Standings page (pdf).(3-25-2012)
So the Only Change for next week, 36 locked in, 83 has to make the race on time.

I believe 83 will be locked in, because the 33 is no longer running.
