2012 Aaron's 499 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Talladega Superspeedway, the longest, tallest, largest in NASCAR plays host to Race 10 of 36 of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season for the running of the Aaron's 499. Could this be the race where Dale Earnhardt Jr. can finally break his winless streak, or will this be the race that Greg Biffle can maintain his points lead? Entry list to be posted soon.
Re: 2012 Aaron's 499 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Talladega is one of those few tracks where you don't know what will happen, it could provide great racing or it could be a massive failfest. But, one thing's for certain: it's a nice break from all the cookie-cutters we've been smothered with lately.

Driver leading at white will be driver leading at checked unless the two-car tango is present.

maybe a photo finish is what the fans want.
Re: 2012 Aaron's 499 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Has the possibility to be the best race of the year so far. May be utter ridiculousness could be boring as hell...who knows?

I don't know...the past 7 or 8 Talladega races were decided on a last lap pass....day500champ1 wrote:Driver leading at white will be driver leading at checked unless the two-car tango is present.

5 of the last 6, were determined by the two-car tango as well. The last real Talladega last lap pass with the draft was in the fall of '01.

You can't really consider that a pass, since it was more of a dump and run.

I'll give you this one, Jake. But, the '06 fall one wouldn't work considering Jr., Jimmie, and Vickers had pulled away from the pack. Remember it was just the 3 of them down the backstraightaway.

No, he was there, but he only got about half a car up on Johnson and that was for 2nd. Gordon firmly had it over Johnson.
About 8:47 is just before the line.

Given the history, he's my count:
1 in the Nationwide
1 in the ARCA
0 in the Cup

Going off the Blaney discussion from earlier, he's been pretty solid on SS's even before he got in the 36 car. I remember a few years back he finished 3rd in the Bill Davis 22.

he got 3rd in last year's fall race as well, so don't count him out for a good finish.

This flip only happened caused Newman struck Edwards car. Plus Brad held his line having learned from Smith incident this year before.

last couple ARCA races have been crap, they should move back to the Friday before the fall race. NWS is about the only time you gonna even have a chance for a flip.

Whatever happens, I ask of my driver...
Please, dear God, do not draft with Jimmie Johnson on the last run.
I think they're still waiting to make their move from last year's Spring race.
