Golden Corral returns to sponsor Blaney at Superspeedways: Golden Corral will come back on board the Tommy Baldwin Racing #36 Chevy for the superspeedway races this season. Dave Blaney will drive the #36 Golden Corral/Camp Corral Chevrolet this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway as well as at Daytona International Speedway in July and Talladega in October. The Raleigh, N.C., company will once again run the Top-10 Kids Eat Free promotion for all three events. Golden Corral and Camp Corral will adorn the #36 Chevy in the Aaron's 499 this weekend. Golden Corral sponsored the team in 21 events last season. This summer the company will focus on spreading the word about Camp Corral, as well as running the Top-10 Kids Eat Free promotion.(Tommy Baldwin Racing)(5-3-2012)

Until Wendesday?! Seriously doubt that...
It happened a few years ago at Michigan.
With a 30% chance of rain on Sunday, I highly doubt it...

Very reminiscent of Talladega Nights.

Whether you hate Kurt or not, you got to give him credit for a sense of humor. For that paint scheme and the stuffed animal alone, I'm rooting for him to win this weekend.

^That would be fine just as long as Kurt isn't french kissing another driver at the end.^

Kurt's flipping. It would only be justice for that scheme.

Anyone can be the fastest on a restrictor plate track. The practice sessions are really irrelevant as far as who will have the best chance of winning a race.

Busch's whole team is in on it, and everyone will play characters from the movie through the race weekend, even on radio communications.

That sounds like an idea I had a while back. Only the car and characters would have been from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

Figures that the car that runs a different route in qualifying is the car that wins the pole.

Jeff Gordon has won the pole for tomorrow's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Josh Wise really surprised me by qualifying 16th. Is he a start-and-park driver or not? I don't really know.

Originally maybe, but with the top 20 result at the Daytona 500 and 16th in qualifying they might do the whole race.

and that will be a good thing because he could just forget about parking and just run the full race.

Any of you guys got predictions on when The Big One will happen and how many cars will be involved?
Lap 177, 18 cars.

Just like yesterday, on the first G-W-C, and only about 8 or 9 cars.

You know something else, wouldn't it be amazing if Dale Earnhardt Jr could break his winless streak today at a track he loves so much?

This first part of this has happened before (2001, I believe was the last time). Not sure about the lead lap thing though.
Re: 2012 Aaron's 499 - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
I was at one of those caution free races (the first one in talladega history i believe). It was still a pretty good race, despite never getting a bathroom break, lol

I wasn't sure. This last one I could recall was 2001. I figured I would be wrong.

that shouldn't happen at all. I don't even know why people like him would then park up so suddenly, especially since he set the fastest lap.

No money. Simple as. They can't afford tires and fuel to run the whole race, or they need to preserve their parts.
I'd rather race in a lower tier series until I have the money to run full races in Cup than not race and just be a craptacular parkmobile.

I'd rather keep my pride, rather than embarrass myself by racing the 1-50 or so laps wherever you are running, then park it. Yeah, I get the advantages of it, but still, I could NEVER swallow my pride and do such a thing

Same here. He should've stayed in the Nationwide series for maybe this year and then have a shot at Sprint Cup glory in 2013, that way he won't have to start and park then.

Yes. Whenever he wasn't driving for JR Motorsports and Go Green Racing, which was about half the year. Actually, last year Wise finished 4th at Iowa for Jr, and then the following week start & parked for Curtis Key.

Then you'll end up like Stephen Leicht, a perennially unemployed journeyman at 25. While Landon Cassill gets a full-time ride beacuse he kept his name out there every week.
