- Spoiler:
- Ward gives his analysis on the races
Part-timer Barney Ward gave his analysis in an interview after the 2nd race had finished, "I do have to say that the racing was much more cleaner than at Daytona and Talladega, probably because Carbondale is a short track of course and that everyone was taking things steady since Freestone's crash. I'm still not so sure on the reliability of these cars though since there have already been about 15 engine failures so far this season, but I'm still confident about the racing went today and hopefully everything will be okay when I finally make my debut in Road America very soon, so I'm looking forward to that race a lot."
Re: 2012 Race 3: Carbondale Duels
For those of you posting comments on YouTube, the title card about spoilers at the beginning is there for a reason. I don't like being told what happens before I see a race, and I assume the same goes for the rest of you.
People who consistently post spoilers on YouTube are now being blocked. It's inconsiderate, and I'm tired of having to go back and delete the offending comments.

- Spoiler:
- Matthews Motorsports makes history - the wrong kind:
The Matthews Motorsports team was looking to make history on St. Patrick's Day, as Tiffany and Ryan Matthews became, it's thought, to be the first husband and wife teammates to start an ARLA Elite Series race.
But the Luck of the Irish wasn't with them, as engine failures bit Tiffany on the first lap, and later got Ryan near the halfway point. End result? The Matthewses became the first husband-wife combo to DNF in an ARLA race.
"That wasn't how we drew it up, obviously," team owner Ryan Matthews said, who was also making his ARLA debut in this race, and was spun on the Lap 1 incident in which Tiffany Matthews' engine grenaded. "The engine shop is going to have a lot to answer for. I mean, heck, we go two full races with no problems and then we can't have an engine go 500 feet? (sighs) Well, the good news is we weren't the only ones with issues. It just stinks for everybody."
Tiffany Matthews was equally frustrated.
"I don't believe it," she said, kicking her car in frustration. "We had a chance for a good points day today, on a track type I'm usually really good at, and we never even had a chance. It's just frustrating."

- Spoiler:
- Scott Morales radio"I just love how ARLA has this new points system, and with all these engine failures and wrecks, Derek Dudding could win the championship, because he seems to be the only one who hasn't f*cked everything up out there. I hope you love your points lead Finkleberg, you'll be seeing how 20th place feels in a few races."

- Jared Warth Unhappy About Crash, But Has High Hopes For His Next Race.
Jared Warth got taken out of contention on a lap 60 crash with Mike Andrews and Leslie Riggs, Here is what he had to say after the race:
"I don't know what those two were thinking going three wide... we all know that doesn't work at this track, I probably should of backed off the gas but it was the final laps so i guess give & take is no longer viable. I'm looking forward to our next race at Houston, thanks to my team for giving me a great car this week."

I'm gonna be honest, I was very surprised with the races at Carbondale. A LOT cleaner than what you'd expect from this track.

- Spoiler:
- Yamada Peaved About Being Wrecked
During today's race, Makoto Yamada ran within the top six all day long until a late race incident where lap cars took out a few of the leaders. On of them was Yamada. As he was angrily walking quickly to his hauler we were able to get three words out of him before he walked off: "We got wrecked". Obviously he was not happy about running so well just to be taken out by lapped cars.

Re: 2012 Race 3: Carbondale Duels
Not posting a spoiler cause if anyone's scrolling this far and they haven't watched the race, it's their own fault.
Prediction for 2012: Certain drivers in the field, like Derek Dudding, will get get an undeserved position in the points due to the rule where a driver must be running at the finish to score points.
My Reasoning: He's beating the defending champion in points, as well as a few other Top 20 drivers. Yes this is very early in the season, but he's already got a decent sized gap on them which will not be easy to make up.

To be fair, he hasn't got into any wrecks so far this season which probably explains why he is in the top 40 in points right now.

Re: 2012 Race 3: Carbondale Duels
- Spoiler:
- FAC out early at Carbondale. Azure blasts ARLA for blown engines.
It was another rough day for Nick Azure and FAC Motorsports at Carbondale. Problems happened early in race 1 when Tiffany Mathews engine expired at the start. This caused everyone to bunch up behind her, causing Jason Bates and Jacob Eichholtz to get together then Azure just clips the nose of the 231 car. Azure continued on, but then three laps later, the header broke on the 46a, one of the many engine failures that occurred in the race. Owner Frank Azure was furious with not only his own engine failure, but with the dozen of engine failures this season.
"This is just f***ing ridiculous. Out of the combined 79 cars from both races, 21 cars did not finish, and out of those 21 cars that DNF'd, 14 were out because of engine failures. Now you tell me if there's a problem. Daytona and Talladega are understandable because you're running full throttle at 220 mph the whole race. That is hard on any engine, but you have a serious problem when 3/4 of the DNF are because of engine failures at A F***ING SHORT TRACK! Kevin Monroe said perfectly after Daytona. Who the hell came up with this body design? The front of these noses are so small that these engines get no air at all. Second of all, these cars are meant for short track racing, not for superspeedway racing. A man was almost killed at Talladega not because of the track, but of the car. ARLA need to get there heads out of there asses and find a way to keep the engines cool, and to make these cars hold up better in hard wrecks."
FAC will not attempt another until the Mini Indy 500 witch he will have to qualify for. The rest of his schedule includes Buffalo, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas.

Re: 2012 Race 3: Carbondale Duels
- Spoiler:
- Brinson Enterprises debuts with top-10 finish
After countless hours of preperation and testing, the time came for Brinson Enterprises to make their season debut at Carnondale, IL. The third round also marked the ARLA debut of driver Trey Ashby.
Team owner Matt Brinson expected the event to be a learning experience for both car and driver but few including himself expected to find the speed that Ashby displayed right out of the gate. The #12 was in the top-ten in practice and Ashby carried the momentum over into qualifying where he set a time to place him 7th on the grid.
"I was really quite shocked to come out and be that competitive right off the bat" says Brinson. "The guys worked together as a cohesive unit and all of the prep put into the car really paid dividends. There were few teething problems, if any throughout the weekend."
Come raceday, the team was just as competitive as Ashby suprised many by battling at times in the top five. However on lap 71, Ashby was an innocent bystander as Shane Lake ran into the turn 4 wall, collecting the #12 and putting the brilliant run thus far at jeperody
Fortunately, quick work by the Fancy Ass Pens pit crew allowed Ashby to remain on the lead lap with very minor damage. "We didn't panic, because we knew we had the car to come back" said Brinson. "Luckily we only suffered very little damage after we hit the wall and Trey reported no change in driveability to the race car".
At the rear of the grid, the team benefited from a third caution and Ashby battled back to score a 7th place finish.
"It was a great day and we really learned a lot about ourselves and the car" said Brinson. "I'm very impressed how we ran, especially with how Trey handled himself and kept cool under pressure. Hopefully we can ride the momentum and put on a similar showing at Grand Detour."

Re: 2012 Race 3: Carbondale Duels
- Spoiler:
- Forgive me for the late comment, but being a first top ten I couldn't resist...
The 728 of nikos kastapolous and company were absolutely ecstatic as their car finally, after two years of heartbreak finds their first top ten of their short careers.
"we've been building momentum and equipment for the longest time" said kastapolous after the race to oen reporters, "but I don't know for some reason we couldn't make it stick because of wrecks killing us. But I'll tell you what this is an awesome feeling and I couldn't ask for anything more, thank you to everyone at arla and Carcia-Aragon motorsports for the opportunity and privalege to drive in such a great series."
Since the team wrecked in Daytona however, they've still got about a 100+ point gap to work on for the championship.

Um, massive trolling sprees in ARLA that will result in millions of LOL's and will possibly take away attention from the exciting championship points battle to come?
