- Spoiler:
- Jefferson's Day Ends Early Through No Fault of His Own
An MRD car getting taken out in someone else's garbage...sounds like a constantly recurring theme.
Nevertheless, that's what happened to John Jefferson today at Road Atlanta as he was taken out by Ike Durbin after Durbin hit the wall and slowed into his path. After climbing out of his car with the crew unable to repair the damage, Jefferson was unhappy but kept a cool demeanor.
"Ike must have lost it ahead of us, and I couldn't get it slowed down in time. That's pretty much why we're back here and not out there trying to score points. It's not my place to say stuff about other drivers, so I'll leave that to someone else" Jefferson said as he surveyed the damage to his car.

- Kinasa backs her top 10 with a 4th place finish
"I haven't had a chance to look at the points, but I have a feeling we're up there. In a position like this, I can't be mad about the accident, but with this luck the 426 Team has been having lately I hope Carbondale is better."

Possibly my favorite race ever in the TM canon, and for what reason I have no idea.

Is it because the background music is from Conker's Bad Fur Day?

- Spoiler:
- Griffin scores 1st ever podium finish; has a word with Andrews after the event
Ryan Griffin had a lot to be proud of after the TM Lights event at Road Atlanta. The young rookie came home with his best career finish, 3rd. Griffin's day however was not without its issues. A incident with Mike Andrews in the #51 nearly derailed the #18's day. But, Griffin recovered nicely to finish 3rd.
Afterword though, Griffin upon exiting his car sought out Andrews and was seen having a discussion with the driver. The conversion didn't appear to get heated. Griffin had this to say afterword:
"Well, first I have to thank all the guys on this #18 machine. The car was really good there at the end. It's a shame we had the get together with Mike because I think we could've at least had a shot at Nate. But, that's the way it goes I guess."
Re: Race 02: TM Lights Round of Georgia
- Spoiler:
- Forever Alone finishing 2nd Place at Road Atlanta for Sakura Motoko.
Sakura Motoko achieved a podium finish of 2nd place and keeping the car in one piece. The only trouble she had was being knocked off the track by Brandon L. "I could have led more laps, but I'm happy, and the team is happy with my final result." Motoko told reporters post race. "I now have to look forward to Carbondale next week!" The whole team would wind up being there due to the ARLA, TM Lights, and TM Master cup all being there on the same weekend.

- Spoiler:
- Kade doing his job the right way
After coming off a 9th place finish at Daytona which surprised Eric Webler and Thomas Kade himself, Kade brought the #15 newegg.com Car home in one piece placing 5th. Starting off the year with 1 top 5 and 2 top 10s and no car killing wrecks is great for this rookie. Remember that name, Thomas Kade... he's going to be champion someday.

Matthews apologetic to Robinson, furious with Durbin:
Another race, another shutout for Tiffany Matthews.
This time, an incident between herself and Justin Robinson, which itself was caused by Ike Durbin running her off the course, put Matthews out of a potential top-10 finish and again out of the points.
"First off, I want to express to Justin Robinson how sorry I am that I took him out," she said after the race. "It doesn't make up for what happened out there, but I wanted him to know."
"I also hope that the officials have a talk with Ike Durbin," she added. "Apparently he doesn't know that lap cars shouldn't be racing lead-lap cars like that. He's the reason that the whole incident with me and Justin happened."
Matthews looks to get her season on track at the Round of Carbondale. "We're also racing the ARLA race that weekend, so hopefully I can get the ship righted. I really don't want to go three races without scoring points."

Durbin Apologetic with Everyone, "Doesn't know what he was thinking."
After spinning and getting lapped early, Ike Durbin, while racing side by side with Tiffany Matthews, ran her off the track, and caused what was easily a very avoidable collision. Durbin had this to say, "I'm not really sure what happened, or why I did it. I had no intention of running her off the track, and honestly didn't mean to. As soon as I felt the contact, I swerved to the left to avoid getting myself wrecked. I'm extremely sorry for the damage I caused, and, well, I guess I can't change the past. I had a chat with officials, and I understand if penalties are forthcoming. I understand why Tiffany [Matthews] is so heated, as I also have a deep annoyance for lapped cars that drive...well...like I did out there. I want to apologize to everyone else involved in what I caused. At this point, I don't much feel like I should be out there racing anymore."
In his normal fashion, Durbin offered to pay for the cars that were totalled in the accidents he caused, however has received no response.

GLM to bench Durbin for Carbondale
GLM's Jim More annouced today that the #08 car driven by Ike Durbin would not be running in the TM Lights event at Carbondale. Durbin had a number of run-ins with drivers in the race at Road Atlanta. The most noteable being with Tiffany Matthews.
More said this in the press release:
"I want to say right away that Ike is a great driver and team owner. And the decision to park him was a decision made by the two of us. That being said I understand the officials may levee more penalties against the #08 team and Ike. But, I wanted to try to handle this thing in house."
More also took the opportunity to apologize to Matthews himself.
"Tiffany is a good up and coming driver and she didn't deserve what happened to her. On behave of GLM, I want to apologize for the actions of Durbin and hope we can go forward without any issues."

- Cummings Finishes Outside of Top 20 Again in Wreck-Filled Race
Date: March 9, 2012
In a race that featured a bunch of wrecks, including on lap 6 involving NCC student and driver Joseph Cummings, Ike Durbin, John Jefferson, Mike Andrews, and Cameron Taylor, made it a bad day for Cummings. Like the season opener at Las Vegas, it was a learning experience for him on the road courses.
"All I was trying to do was pick up positions one by one and avoid wrecks," said Cummings of 18 years old. "When Durbin hit the wall and pretty much parked in front of us, our day was pretty much over. I knew it wasn't going to be an easy day but I was not expecting anything like that at all. I hate it for this team, who put a lot of work onto this North Carolina College car day in and out. All the troubles aside, it was an awesome experience being on a road course, especially none other than Road Atlanta. It sure gave me a great appreciation of how challenging a road course can be."
The TM Lights' next visit will be at Carbondale, a short track that fits Cummings' racing style.
"I'm glad that I'll be going to a track where I'll have a legitimate chance of showing my true abilities. For sure, Carbondale is quite a different short track from all of the others but I think racing there will give me a good perspective of how well I can compete with the other drivers in TM Lights. I'm really looking forward going there soon and show that I can contend for at least the top 15."
