"Freaking lapped cars" cost Matthews win
"Freaking lapped cars!"

That was a, well, edited, version of the radio message Taylor Matthews relayed as she was being held up by Jeffer Jackson. It would prove the difference in the race, as Matthews would watch helplessly as Tylor Thaber scooted past her to claim a victory Matthews thought was hers.

She'd have to settle for second place.

"I'd love to say I'm happy with that run, but I'm not," Matthews said in her post-race interview. "That 05 cost us a win, straight up. I don't know what I did to him during the race to piss him off, but he had no business doing a hatchet job to our race like that."

Asked if payback was on the cards for Jackson, Matthews said, "Nah. I'll beat him on the track instead of off it."

For what it's worth, Matthews' effort moved her into the points lead, 11 points ahead of former champion Billy Ray Smith-Thompson.
