NTT Data will return to sponsor Dixon for this race. Spencer Pigot will also be sponsored by Loki the Wolf Dog, an Instagram superstar (this could actually work well because it may attract new young fans to Indycar, just a thought).
Also, Indy Lights will not be at Long Beach.

Re: 2017 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Weekend
Will Power is fastest in the second practice at Long Beach.
Also, not related to the race weekend, but Zach Veach has been confirmed to be driving the number 40 for AJ Foyt racing at the Indianapolis 500. Other news in the Indycar scene is that George Michael Steinbrenner IV is starting a campaign to bring his team and Colton Herta to Indycar, possibly in the next two years.

While it might be sans Celebrity Pro-Am, what the Long Beach GP gains in its place is something pretty special; historic Can-Am racing!

The United Sports car Race was a wreckfest, including this inasne finish in GT Le Mans:

That IMSA race was crazy, and exciting. As much as I sometimes find those other Taylors involved in racing to be a bit irritating (especially Wayne) that was an amazing move by Jordan on Ryan Dalziel and it shows that they are the team to beat in American prototypes.
I have to feel sorry for Antonio Garcia. That one was totally out of his control.

Crap, Rossi is out. he was having such a great run too. Hoping either Hinch or Hunter Reay can take this one.
EDIT: YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME, ALL OF THE ANDRETTI CARS WENT OUT OF THE RACE DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUES.

What the actual hell Andretti? Seriously I'd lol if Ryan wasn't part of it.

Good win by James Hinchcliffe, but I can't get over how frustrating Andretti's engine problems were. I'm not trying to go full Alex Jones and create a wild conspiracy theory, but I think it is kinda weird that all Andretti Hondas had their engines fail and no other Honda did.

Re: 2017 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Weekend
Pretty decent race. The strategy was pretty interesting, although the racing got a bit boring at times.
Will Power was a bit too ambitious on the first lap and wrecked himself and Charlie Kimball, although it looked like Kimball did come a little bit, so I'd say both were to blame for that. I've been seeing online that some people have been calling Will Power a trash driver, and I've got to say, if you don't like the guy, that's understandable, but let's be serious here. Calling a driver trash when he has 28 career wins and a championship on his resume makes you look kind of dumb. Just saying.
The Andretti mechanical issues were kind of crazy, with all four cars falling out, including RHR who looked like he had a car that could win. Tough break for him.
So, the podium had James Hinchcliffe, Sebastien Bourdias, and Josef Newgarden. That's quite the group of drivers.
Good for Hinchy. It's been a while since he's seen victory lane, and what a return: winning at Long Beach, and after the near-fatal injury at Indy a few years, this was a very popular win.
Bourdais... another podium from the back of the pack. The championship is real, y'all.
Josef Newgarden with a good run today as well.
Overall, the race was fairly enjoyable to me. 6/10.

Solid race. Glad to see Hinch back in victory lane and not fall into the "he was never same after a big injury" crowd.
Coyne and championship run is two words i would've never thought i said in the same sentence, but with the crazy strats and this being essentially the band back together from Bourdias Champ Car title runs...here we are.

Pretty solid Long Beach race. Some good passing and not all that much fail. It was pretty gutting to see all of those Andretti cars grenade within that short period of time, particularly Hunter-Reay.
Also, not sure if anyone saw but Hildebrand broke his hand in that last lap incident with Aleshin. Hopefully it's not too serious and recovers soon.

Re: 2017 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Weekend
A little late on the reply here, but I'd say that a lot of fans probably had very mixed reactions to the race.
On the one hand, the final stage of the race is what one would refer to as an absolute worst case scenario for everyone at Andretti Autosport. I've never seen a four-car team lose every entrant due to mechanical troubles, and to have Rossi, Sato, and Hunter-Reay all drop out within minutes of one another and so close to the finish must have been terrible for any Andretti fan to watch. The fact that Rossi and Hunter-Reay were two of the biggest contenders for the win made it that much more disappointing.
On the other hand, we finally witnessed the long-awaited return to victory lane of James Hinchcliffe, and at such a major event, nonetheless. From the day after his life nearly ended at Indianapolis in 2015, he's shown an unbelievable determination to return to the track and to win. It's wonderful to see that that perseverance has been rewarded!
