Le Mans is mearly a week or so away and we have some big news coming, possible new entries in LMP1 and GTE
(I think we know who one of them is )

Also Andy Blackmore released his spotter guide for this year.

Re: The Le Mans Thread
Would I be right in assuming it's the new Ford LMP1 project?

Maybe, but two other names keep popping up too.
BMW (likely the GTE team mentioned), and a Semi work Ferrari team under the Glickenhaus name.....

Re: The Le Mans Thread
Porsche is one-two-three in P1!
Unfortunately, Danish ace Jan Magnussen had a big wreck in qualifying. The #63 corvette has been withdrawn. GM still has the sister #64 car and the French entered #50 from Labre Compétition.
Ford will be returning to Le Mans! Entered by Ford Ecoboost Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, two Ford GTs will compete in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship and in the WEC in 2016. A late 2015 debut for the car hasn't been ruled out but the current plan is for the 2016 Rolex 24 to be the car's first outing.

Re: The Le Mans Thread
Well as predicted, Ford is heading to Le Mans with Chip Ginassi as the lead owner.

Re: The Le Mans Thread
Within an hour of halfway.
It's currently two Porsche's (#17 and #19) vs. two Audi's (#7 and #9) for overall/LMP1 lead.
LMP2 leader is the #47 Oreca with a lap lead.
GTEP is between the #99 Aston Martin and the lone Corvette. The #91 Porsche is in 3rd on the lead lap
GTEA is between the #91 Aston Martin and #72 Ferrari. The Patrick Dempsey #77 is in 3rd a lap behind
Only one incident between a Ferrari and a LMP1 car so far with the #8 Audi clipping a bunch of slow cars in a slow zone.

Re: The Le Mans Thread
I don't think it was a slow zone. Whatever happened was very strange, I think dashboards were calling it a slow zone as were race boards but the marshals were waving greens. Nissan doing better than expected with a retirement only down to a missing tyre, a lot of work still needed for next year..

Re: The Le Mans Thread
Excellent race start to finish. Amazed that a rookie line up (exception Tandy, although first LMP1 Le Mans) could come out on top. Disappointed that AF Corse #51 encountered transmission problems in the last 3 hours, but 4 Ferrari on the podium and a GTE Am win is good enough for me

Re: The Le Mans Thread
I just thought I'd chime in and say that this race made my entire week. As a Porsche fan from a family of Porsche fans, this was long awaited and much celebrated victory!
Re: The Le Mans Thread
Bit of a bump, but as always an excellent video by NISMO to time lapse the event:
