2012 24 Hours of Le Mans
How has this not been made yet?
HUGE accident just happened, with two cars flipping over. #8 Toyota did a full flip in the air, then landed on its wheels, then the #81 Ferrari hit the wall so hard he flipped. Biggest Le Mans crash in a long time!

Is there an English-language feed available somewhere in the Interwebs? The one from the Le Mans web page is in French (not that I mind it, but still...)

There was Rockenfeller last year who had a larger accident, although it was in the dark so no one saw it

The Ferrari driver should have his racing licence revoked after that dumb move.

I don't quite agree. It looked more of a misunderstanding than an intentional move to cut off the Toyota.

still looked a bit reckless though, as that crash could've been way more worse.
Re: 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans
Generally speaking, in endurance racing, it is the responsibility of the leading cars to make sure the backmarkers are aware of you, because it's not really worth risking a crash like that when you can just blow by them in the straights anyway.
In this case, the Ferrari probably didn't think there was a chance the Toyota would attempt to pass him. The Toyotas (both of them) have been WAY too reckless passing some of the GTs, so to be honest, a big crash involving one of them was inevitable.

The Toyota made a move that was way too overzealous for the amount of time that was remaining in the race.

That.
Oh, and if anyone cares, the Delta Wing is 47th overall at the moment.
(I found an English feed that works; the others were showing soccer! )

Vickers has been quiet, Delta Wing had some issue early in the race.RealRacer4 wrote:So besides the big wreck that occured, anything else happened? How far back is Brian Vickers and the Delta Wing?
Holy crap that wreck. Glad both are okay as Davidson got WAY high and the Ferrari absolutely destroying the wall.

Re: 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans
The Deltawing got wrecked due to Nakajima being a dumbass. Marino Franchitti said it best: "I see his [Nakajima's] spatial awareness hasn't improved from his F1 days"
Proof positive that Toyota threw away Le Mans by hiring a bunch of noobs to drive their cars. -_-

I wouldn't blame that crash on Davidson, just looked like that Ferrari just flat out hit him

Davidson has a broken back, the latest update says.
Could've been worse.

I agree the Ferrari flat out hit him but you have to know that as a driver in a faster LMP, your job is to stay out of trouble and avoid putting yourself in such a position. Davidson failed at that.
Also, Toyota is officially finished as the other car has just been retired. Proof positive that money does not buy you Le Mans

1st, Anthony Davidson was going ambitious into the chicane trying to make a late corner pass, and 2, I don't think the Ferrari knew he'd try to pass that late on the straight. Anthony Davidson was also a reject in F1, but it's kind of hard to really have a good run in a Super Aguri.

He also ran two races for Minardi and one race for BAR.

Re: 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans
me thinks toyota should bring they reject drivers and themselves back to f1
Re: 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans
If Toyota hired Yuji Ide and Sakon Yamamoto to partner Kazuki Nakajima they would be the ultimate Japanese F1 reject team.
Yuji Ide is currently racing GT cars with Ralph Firman. Its the F1 crash cousins!

Sorry for the double post.
The face of Thomas Leusch when Marcel Fässler spun would make a great meme.

#75 Prospeed Porsche rear ended the wall into the Porsche curves at high speed and went ablaze, bringing out the safety car. Pitstops all round. Apparently it was the grandson of the king of Saudi Arabia. Andy Marriott said it perfectly: that makes him royalty and very, very rich

Who ever thought that the GT-A class was a good idea is a bigger stooge then Brian France.
That's three huge wrecks caused by the Amateurs in two years.
