Kyle back out, I think if he finishes he will pass three cars. He should be safe IF the #48, #2 or #88 don't win.

Welp, Jrrr is out, but so is Jimmie, so that balances it out.
I had chills during those last few laps, and at the finish, drivers were going five wide at the line. How they didn't wreck after the checkered is beyond me, but great job by everyone. And good win by Kez, putting himself back into championship contention.
The Geico 500 at Talladega gets a solid 7.5/10.

Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Jr. all fail to advance. Course Keselowski moves on thanks to this system but oh well.

YFW you realize Brad probably won because of that BS debris call. That allowed him to hook up with Joey and pretty much put him outfront.

Re: NASCAR Cup & Trucks at Talladega
People being upset over Junior not making it is understandable. But I just find it kind of funny how people are upset over Brad K. winning.
I really want Matt Kenseth or Ryan Newman to win the title without having won a race just as a massive "SCREW YOU" to this asinine Chase format. And as it stands, they've made it through two rounds of the Chase. Though Jeff Gordon winning his fifth title would be nice, too.
But most importantly: FREE BLOOMIN' ONIONS TOMORROW WOOOOOOOOOO!

Cassill finishes 4th, his first top five and first top ten in 147 career starts, while Kvapil finishes 6th, his first top ten in two years.

Re: NASCAR Cup & Trucks at Talladega
Was rooting for Gallagher in the Truck Series race, I believe that he was in 10th or 11th, if I recall correctly, in turn 4 on the final lap.
Watching him charge around all but two of the trucks that were in front of him (and coming inches from passing another, as well) to finish in 3rd was great!

Re: NASCAR Cup & Trucks at Talladega
I have a feeling I'm going to piss off the Junior fans on here, but here we go.
This Tweet from Craven is fucking laughable:
https://twitter.com/RickyCravenESPN/status/523979147044204544
This response after Dave Moody quoted Craven's original Tweet is even dumber:
https://twitter.com/NITROMAN_88/status/523980441586778113
Mark Martin is a far superior driver to Junior. He finished second in points five times; Junior's never finished second in points. It's a bad comparison.
Also, Junior admitted to Marty Smith in a pre-race interview that he got lazy and rested on his last name for a while (although, those could be excuses). Being lazy is not the mark of greatness in any form of life. In fact, it's the opposite.
I've been thinking about something the last few days: if Junior ends up in the NASCAR HOF someday, then Davey Allison belongs there, too. Allison won one race every year from '87 to '93, and fumbled away what should've been his Winston Cup in '92 (though, that was thanks to Ernie Irvan). Junior's never had the Cup in his hands in the final race of the season.
Compared to Ricky Craven, Junior is great. Compared to everyone else? Hell, no. To paraphrase someone I follow on Twitter, Ricky Craven be on that bullshit.
Rant over.

Re: NASCAR Cup & Trucks at Talladega
Junior is a good driver.. Not great. He does have 2 nationwide titles. I hope he does win a title but this may of been his best chance. Mark is better, but dale was just more liked. Dale likely will go in the HoF, due to his name/likability. Junior won't get in first try. It will take him some years. Same for Allison.

This is apparently a "P3" penalty, which means a loss of 15 points, but since he's safely ahead of Khane by 27 he's not goin anywhere.

I'm just wondering how they made it to the finish without wrecking.
While I'm a fan of Kes, I'm kind of meh about his win, though I won't deny that he's one of the men to beat in terms of the championship.

Bah, I was hoping Newman was going to hang on for that one. Oh well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first time in Jimmie's career's that he won't finish in the top 8 in the standings. If so, that's quite a run.

I seriously thought this race would be a wreckfest due to being the elimination one, but it was one of the nicest races that in Talladega in some time, at least for me.
I feel really bad for Jr., Annett and Menard when they were caught by that wreck.

Once eliminated, the Chase drivers revert to 2000 points plus however many they've earned, no matter what round they are eliminated in. Johnson and the other eliminated Chasers can finish as high as fifth, and as low as 16th. Right now he is 11th, behind only Kyle Busch and AJ Allmendinger, as well as the eight drivers still in the Chase.

But to answer JMac's question, his worst finish in points I believe is 5th (2002, 2005). Might have to check that because I can't recall where he finished in 2011.
Re: NASCAR Cup & Trucks at Talladega
As much as I thought that was a pretty tense race to watch, it still has my disappointing points to it. My favourite driver's Alex Bowman and Dale Jr getting taken out in wreck that really weren't their faults.I'm honestly not 100% happy that Keselowski won as well, I know that he has the most wins this season in Cup than anyone else and that's a pretty good achievement for him, but I still don't like him after what happened the previous week at Charlotte.

Stupid points system aside (seriously, two of the best teams all year are completely wiped from contention because of how they did in two or three races?), this was actually a really, really good race!

Geez, I thought ESPN forgot about Kenseth at risk of falling out of the Chase. Here's something else they missed.
By the way, since Greg Biffle single-handedly pissed off Junior Nation yesterday, here's a thought: How hasn't he obtained a universal reputation as a wrecker yet? Seriously, he was doing shit like that twelve years ago. Ask Kevin Harvick.
