Never bet against DAMS. They're the best team in GP2 and FR3.5 for a reason.

Helmut Marko is in the paddock as well, wonder what's going through his mind after that... especially given that qualifying was JEV's big weakness...

Pretty good race. Was hoping we'd got more out of Vergne and Buemi but Vergne's car decided to up and die.

Yet another good race - it sucks for Vergne, the way he was dominating that race. Sarrazin was doing pretty well too before he wrecked it - one day someone will wise up about those sausage curbs, especially how cars were flying over them this race. Also, e.dams keep getting better and better.

Other than that, the track was a lot better than what I expected from seeing video of local touring car races there and how thrown together it looked. Hopefully they'll get to come back to this one...

That was a very exciting race. I feel so bad for Jean Eric Vergne. He drove an incredible race and probably could've one it if he hadn't had mechanical problems. I hope Andretti gives him another drive either in Formula E or in Indycar (or both). Sarrazin was fast but a few of those moves were pretty questionable. As for Buemi I've never been a huge fan of him for some reason but he drove well all day, so good win for him.

By the way did Heidfeld get two penalties? The commentators that I was watching seemed to indicate that he did.

The race in Buenos Aires is this weekend! The track looks rather like someone turned the Putrajaya track inside out, which has no bearing on anything, really.

Marco Andretti joins JEV with Andretti, Ho-Pin Tung comes back for China Racing, and Duran Duran stays around for another round while Katherine Legge is likely doing the test day for the 24 Hours of Daytona.

So here's where we're at now:
e.dams: It took them three races, but now they're exactly where everyone expected them to be eventually. Buemi is out-classing Prost at the moment, and another win would not surprise me in the slightest.
Audi Sport ABT: Di Grassi's ridiculous consistency has set them up to be e.dams' main rivals, if only Abt would start pulling his weight - a mere fastest lap only proves that you CAN do it, not that you are doing it.
Andretti Autosport: That was one of the best double DNFs a team could have. Depending on how long Vergne gets to stick around, a win seems inevitable. While I doubt that Marco can have much impact coming into this fresh, I also thought that about Vergne...
Virgin: Major fall from grace, considering Bird's absolute dominance in Putrajaya. However, Alguersuari is getting better with time, and I imagine they'll have a good push through to the end of the season.
Dragon Racing: Consistently quiet. Sure, they're scoring points, but not nearly enough as they need to be respectable.
Mahindra: Occasionally flirts with competence, but never for long.
China Racing: That was an amazing race for Piquet, and Tung has been improving steadily. They're on the verge of scoring twice.
Venturi: All the pace they need, with none of the luck. Sarrazin's fastest time in testing means nothing if he's just going to toss it over the curbs again, and Heidfeld's propensity for racking up penalties is disturbing.
Trulli GP: Like China Racing, but not as good. Finally, a good drive from Trulli, and reports are they had a great test day in terms of their data and how much they were able to improve their car. Much is to be expected moving forward in the season.
Amlin Aguri: Oh dear. Da Costa's flashes of brilliance seem so long ago, and the prospect of having either Legge or Duran chugging along three seconds off-pace for the rest of the season should make for fun times.

To be fair, Daniel Abt has had all the unreliability in that team.

That was one of the craziest races I've seen in a long time. Everything that happened after the safety car came out was straight-up madness, with the re-ordering thing, and then everyone's suspension failing... I don't know how they're going to be able to top something like this demo derby.

Meanwhile, Duran Duran got disqualified from his 8th place finish for going over energy limits, so Heidfeld, Servia and Sarrazin got some extra points. Seeing as Legge will, in all likelihood, be back for her seat next race, that's probably the worst way for him to finish his FE stint.

But for that, we've got another two-month wait... Hopefully next year's schedule will be a lot more consistent.

Eight manufacturers will be building the powertrains for next season, on top of the ones currently participating (McLaren, Williams, Hewland), and someone from Venturi is suggesting there will be higher maximum power levels. Battery manufacturers are coming in season 3, and the goal is to be done with car switching by season 5.

The manufacturers' names are mostly self-explanatory in terms of who's using what - Motomatica is rumored to be Trulli, and NextEV is China Racing, so Amlin Aguri and Dragon Racing are the only ones not building their own. Amlin's an interesting case, because early on they sounded like they might be a constructor, but then again, Andretti was talking like they wouldn't be at around the same time. Starting out, there was talk that customer powertrains/cars would be an option, but that seems to have disappeared. Given the names of the constructors and their close associations with a particular team, they might be stuck with this year's machinery again.

In all, it was a lot better than I was expecting - some people were suggesting only four manufacturers would be signing on for next year - and now we wait to see what these things are actually going to look like. We world championship now bbz

Hey, kids! It's that time again!

In case you've missed anything, Scott Speed is with JEV in Andretti's revolving door seat. Oriol Servia got kicked upstairs to a management job with Dragon, and 2013 Le Mans winner Loic Duval is in for him. Charles Pic is back, moving teams to fill in for Ho-Pin Tung at China Racing. Michela Cerutti is apparently done with Trulli due to "professional issues," and in her place will be Vitantonia Liuzzi, who mostly hopped around the backmarkers in F1, tried to do both Super GT and Super Formula in the same year, and did neither very well.

Based on last race, picking winners is practically a crapshoot at this point, but Alguersuari is steadily moving up the pack, and the Virgin car has been good so far. Bruno Senna also seems to be finding his legs as time goes on, and I think Amlin Aguri's got a competitive team now - the win in Buenos Aires wasn't really their fault, but good things happened at the test in Uruguay, it seems.

e.dams is probably going to clean up, though, and it's going to be Prost up front this time.

And related to that, the series boss wants a ladder of feeder series: http://www.formulaezone.com/?p=2123

While that article suggests those races would likely take place on road courses, I prefer the idea of having regional series, considering that you now have 180 cities trying to get a race. Maybe an old machinery series, something like the Xfinity Series or the Dunlop V8 Supercars, could be practical, what with how the series' technical advances are going to be making the main series/world championship faster year by year.

Finale bump. It comes down to Nelson Piquet, Lucas Di Grassi, and Sebastian Buemi for the title.

A story is potentially brewing as the first turn at the London course has a (if not worse) San Jose-tier bump.

Great racing, but the Formula E regulations are all over the place. They really need to refine a lot in the series. Seemed like everyone's getting disqualified or penalties every week, and the "winner" is never actually the winner.

Uh, not sure why? Buemi was the one who kept hitting him - sure, he was maybe a bit overzealous with his defending, but Buemi never really got far enough alongside to the point where Senna should give up the position. Would've preferred that Buemi won it, but it's his own damn fault for pushing too hard on cold tyres.

I watched this race on my phone while on a bus ride home from Sonoma, Needless to say i was bouncing in the seat with how exciting this race was. Fantastic race, great fight for both the title and the win

A successful first year for Formula E, God i can't wait for them to come back.

IIRC Buemi got along side on the last lap and Senna just kind of shoved him to the point where Buemi would have hit the wall. I might have said this out of wanted Buemi to win the title and it happening so soon, to be fair.
