Damn it Kes, you didn't need to get behind Danica to clean your debris.
I'm okay with Junior winning though.

Allan McNish says that Perez's impact was 27 Gs.

Re: Cup & ARCA @ Pocono, Trucks & IndyCar @ Texas, F1 @ Canada
Dale Jr. winning at Pocono. Did not see that coming at all.
This race is... kind of weird to give an honest opinion about, because this was all over the place. There were times that the race was kind of meh, and then we have the grass in turn 3 smoking from apparent firework debris, Jimmie and Ambrose getting together on pit road, and then you had Brad K. looking like he was gonna win, but had trash on the grill causing the temp to go up, and I think he knew the engine wasn't gonna make it unless he did something, so he tried to get it off by running up on Danica, and it caused him to lose all of his momentum, and handed the win to Dale Jr.
It's a good day to be a Jrrrr fan for sure, especially since this one came out of the blue.
The 2014 Party in the Poconos 400 @ Pocono gets a 6.0/10. This one was hard to rate.
Overall, pretty good weekend of racing.

Was Massa's impact the same?

Don't know, but the guy who runs MiniDrivers, who works as a nurse in his day job, says that Massa may well have been killed if he'd hit Vettel with a side impact.BWardboy88 wrote:crl wrote:Allan McNish says that Perez's impact was 27 Gs.

Great F1 race, as a NASCAR worshiper, i can't believe i said that XD
Also, Junior wins at Pocono, nice!
Today was good for racing, unlike the truck race and Indycar sadly....

Also good win to Junior.
I really doubt Massa could do anything about that. Perez was braking by that point, much earlier than the typical braking point which Massa was aiming for.

As a result to Ricciardos first win, he leads his first ever laps in an Formula One race, three as a matter of fact.
As I said before, here's to more.

Checo's been slapped with a five-place grid penalty for Austria. I highly disagree with this, because I think it was just a racing incident.Milan655 wrote:FlashRod4 wrote:Massa inadvertently helped Ferrari because Perez's finish would've pushed Force India into 3rd. Got home in time to watch the last 6 laps of the F1 race... and boy, did F1 put on a show!
Granted I haven't seen too many F1 races, but this was definitely my favorite one that I've seen. Thank goodness Massa and Perez (and Vettel, too) escaped that wreck unharmed.

Just found out Ed Carpenter's real first name is Everette. No wonder he uses "Ed".

Just a decent Indycar race at Texas. I hope Indycar can figure out a better package soon. The NASCAR race at Pocono was actually a pretty good race overall IMO.
Any weekend where Ed Carpenter and Dale Earnhardt Jr. win is perfectly alright with me.

Also fun fact.
First time in Red Bull's History that Sebastian Vettel didn't get the teams first win of the season.

Didn't see F1 live, but I'm sure my regional Comcast Sports outlet will reair it like always.
ARCA sucked, plain and simple. So did Trucks.
IndyCar was better than last year, which doesn't say much. I don't know if it's the new cars or a Firestone thing, but if they want to put on a fun show like the old Texas races have a reputation of having, they're gonna need to get to work.
NASCAR Cup was a better race than people are giving it credit for. There was quite a bit of drama, specifically with the 20,48, and 41. The racing held my attention, as the new aprons made for some fun restarts. (I can't wait for the IndyCar race to see how they do with the aprons.) The finish was entertaining and Junior won at a track at which I never believed he would win.
All in all, it was pretty forgettable weekend. The big story we're gonna remember for a long time is without a doubt Ricciardo's first of what may very well be many F1 wins. It looks like he has a bright future.

As much as I'd like to defend Perez, he moved up into Massa's path, who had a brake issue according to some reports. At least Hulkenberg got points.

Sergio Perez has surprisingly, in my opinion, been given a 5-place grid penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix following his collision with Felipe Massa on the last lap of the Canadian GP.
Re: Cup & ARCA @ Pocono, Trucks & IndyCar @ Texas, F1 @ Canada
Looks like the brake issues is a part of the Mercedes engine as 5 of the 6 Mercedes powered cars had brake problems. (Hamilton, Rosberg, Bottas, Perez, and Massa, which accumulated for 3 overall retirements.
I fail to understand why Massa feels the need to berate whoever he crashes with in the press. This is the 2nd time he's done that and both times, the car he crashed with was having brake problems. He tells everybody else to put themselves in his shoes, maybe he should do the opposite...

Even though I like Perez (a little) and don't like Massa that much, it was clearly Perez fault, that really shouldn't have happened...at all
