Irwin Tools Night Race- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
The Sprint Cup Series returns to Bristol Motor Speedway in a race that has the potential to see some changes in the title race. Defending race winner Kasey Khane and Martin Truex Jr. currently hold the wild card spots, leaving Joey Logano and Ryan Newman looking to capitalize if they want to make the chase. Kurt Busch has now moved into the Top 10, but is still looking for his first win of the season.
Mark Martin moves to the #14 and Brian Vickers takes over the #55 for the rest of the year, with the exception of Talladega, and Ryan Truex makes his debut in the Phoenix Racing #51. Full entry list is posted below.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Martin in the #14! Stewart-Haas and MWR are at fairly similar levels of competitiveness (well, maybe not quite this year). Nonetheless, it'll be cool to see what he can do for the remainder of the season!

Denny Hamlin on pole for 2nite's race. Kyle Busch will start dead last after crashing his car in qualifying.

If I was him, I'd be him. Sorry for expecting what normally happens at Bristol to happen. Besides, it's not like drivers usually get hurt during this race. But, to avoid any more anger from you, I will state that it would be way better for the race to go caution free and the winner to win by 10 seconds due to said absence of cautions.Alta wrote:Hi Boozooka.Pyrozooka0 wrote:looks like the Front Row 1-2 at Dega may not have been a fluke. So, according to you, races are only wreckfests or caution-free snoozefests?Pyrozooka0 wrote:If I was him, I'd be him. Sorry for expecting what normally happens at Bristol to happen. Anybody in the Philadelphia area, if you are planning on watching the race, you'll have to find a different alternative. ABC in Philly is showing the Eagles pre-season game, NOT the race tonight (I'd figure in the market, ESPN would show the race, but don't hold me to that)
Edit: In Philly, it's on WPVI's Digital channel (6.2)
Edit #2: If you are also in the Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Miami, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Tennessee, Cincinnati, or Dallas markets, and any of their games is on ABC, the race might be on the digital channels too.

When I looked at WPVI's website, they said that the race would just be on their digital channel, and that was about 30 or so minutes before the green flagflyingturns89 wrote:ESPN is showing the race for Philly. No, the problem will just end up being with any NBC station that airs pre-season games around the same time as the Saturday night NASCAR racesconrail1990 wrote:This is exactly why I am sooooo happy to see ABC/ESPN going at the end of next season.

Harvick stopped in the 11 box made my night
But unfortunately, this changes the standings
Re: Irwin Tools Night Race- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
At first, I actually thought Hamlin was trying to get back at Vickers for making contact, but after looking at the replays a few times, I think it was a cut tire that caused Hamlin to go straight into Harvick.

Re: Irwin Tools Night Race- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Kenseth had quite the good car on exit in the high groove. It just proved a bit too much for Khane. It sure looked like The 5 car had a real shot in traffic with about 20-15 to go, he made 2 huge lunges that would have stuck against anyone else. Excellent last stage of this race though.
Re: Irwin Tools Night Race- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Notable Finishers
Logano 5th after a wrecked car
Vickers 4th, and Ambrose in 8th
Also, Kvapil finished 16th.

Dang. If Kahne woulda used his bumper, he could have easily had won the race. But that's alright. From what I watched, it was a good race. Though I would like to know how many times Kahne has finished second to Kenseth in his career.

This was a very entertaining race. Crazy stuff happening all night long, pit strategery, and a damn good fight for the win between Kenseth and Kahne. Overall, this was probably the best race of the season, so far, at least in my opinion. The entertainment value was pretty high tonight. My only major gripe was the lapped cars getting in the way, in particular, the BK Racing cars. Kvapil gets reject of the race IMO.
The Irwin Tools Night Race @ Bristol gets a solid 8.0/10.

One of which was his teammate. Though he didn't directly wreck them - Kvapil did with Bowyer.Mother of Invention wrote:I disagree, Vickers may have knocked someone, maybe even two people out of the chase in one fell swoop.bigdc48 wrote:That was a very good race. Congrats to Kenseth. Reject of the race: Travis Kvapil. I'll give it a 9.0/10.

Kenseth proved why he is the only person at Gibbs who has his head on straight and has accomplished more than what the other two clowns have done. Granted he has run a few Nationwide races (and won the Daytona July race) I'm convinced he's the only driver on the team who is taking his Cup season seriously. Kyle thinks that 200 NASCAR wins is better than a championship and Hamlin thinks that despite missing 4 races, he's still going to make the chase.
The race in general was rather strange. Edwards blowing up, Kurt Busch having bad luck, backmarkers being wrecking balls, David Ragan getting a top 15, and next week is Atlanta....which isn't that great.
but at least Trucks are going to CTMP.

And it's funny... err... stupid when you see people online who think it's a good thing.navycook75 wrote:Kenseth proved why he is the only person at Gibbs who has his head on straight and has accomplished more than what the other two clowns have done. I must say, one of the side stories from last night I was fairly impressed and pleasantly surprised with was the way that Front Row Motorsports ran, the 34 and 35 that is. Ragan was pretty consistent all night and Josh Wise was running great before he was wrecked. Gilliland didn't do much again, but I thought the other two were pretty respectable.

Give Hamlin and Harvick crying towels, first order of business.
Given the BK Racing antics I've seen in person (bumpdrafting under caution at Chicagoland last year), the fact that they don't appear to have mirrors installed on their cars doesn't surprise me.
