I'm not the type of person to get all panicky about the safety of Motorsport when a driver dies, but the statistics are now getting a little worrying. RIP Andrea Mamé
I was honestly thinking the same exact thing at the end of 2011 when Dan Wheldon died, along with a few other drivers after that. I mean, I agree. There have been quite a few fatal crashes recently, but the way I look at it, it's just a part of life. Tbh, when I found out that Jason Leffler died earlier this month, I was depressed for a day. I will say though that I hope that this trend doesn't keep up. R.I.P. Andrea Mame.

2011 and 2012 combined had equally as many deaths as the first half of 2013. I believe it's more sheer coincidence that these deaths have happened, but maybe the sport isn't as safe as we thought it was.

Those are my thoughts, too. While safety has been vastly improving, maybe the rare accidents that are severe enough to be fatal have just happened to occur more often in recent years. Hopefully these close, untimely deaths won't continue.Milan655 wrote:2011 and 2012 combined had equally as many deaths as the first half of 2013. I liked Warped more because of the bands playing, not only the music itself but the larger number of bands. If I had more money though I'd definitely go to both. Hopefully I'll have the funds for both next year.Alta wrote:In my personal opinion. The Mayhem line-up was stacked with Amarth, Bodom, Machine Head, Job for a Cowboy, Zombie, Mastodon, FFDP and strong openers like Battlecross, Huntress, and Butcher Babies.vbooy57 wrote:I liked Warped more because of the bands playing, not only the music itself but the larger number of bands. Definitely stacked, but with Warped there is Chiodos, Hands Like Houses, The Amity Affliction, The Used, We Came as Romans, Woe, is Me, Story of the Year, Crown the Empire, Secrets, No Bragging Rights, and a laundry list of bands I've been itching to see. It's really too many bands, honestly. Both have stellar lineups, unquestionably.Alta wrote:The Mayhem line-up was stacked with Amarth, Bodom, Machine Head, Job for a Cowboy, Zombie, Mastodon, FFDP and strong openers like Battlecross, Huntress, and Butcher Babies.vbooy57 wrote:I liked Warped more because of the bands playing, not only the music itself but the larger number of bands. Good on him. It's a shame we won't be seeing him in the big leagues of racing, but as a musician myself I think it's great that he's pursuing his passion and committing himself to what he loves.
