Teller out, Zavala in at Xenos
Venezuelan open-wheel driver Mariano Zavala will take the wheel of the #47 Arquin Xenos for Xenos Development in the remaining 5 races in place of Jason Teller, who was booted from the team after stuffing his car into a tire barrier at the Nemoto Tokyo 120Ks.
Xenos Development team boss Ron Billings, who has previously preferred Canadian drivers in his cars with the exception of American Kyle Eckerton, said that Zavala would provide some "valuable input" to the team.
The #47 car will also be sporting a new paint job, in the colors of Bolivarian National Petroleum. BNP is the Venezuelan state-owned oil company, and has provided significant backing to Zavala and other Venezuelan drivers. Arquin is expected to remain on the car in an associate role.
Zavala, 29, was quoted as saying, "I am grateful for this new challenge [of driving an ARLA car]. I was getting pretty bored with open-wheel cars".
