Road Atlanta Qualifying
Louis Bellard started on the pole and never looked back as he increased his lead to an undefeatable 14-second lead.
Bobby Dollar... where to start with him... him and Alex Alenko failed to set qualifying times, which was the first bad sign. Both cars were running a good 10 seconds off the pace, and Dollar dove into the pits on lap 2 with mechanical issues. He would be in and out of the pits all race, but refused to retire for some reason.
Damon Jones qualified 15th, but spun on the first lap in the esses after contact with Barton Sandy. He would then blow through the backmarkers looking like he was straight out of a bad racing movie and worked his way up to 15th by the end of the race. Unfortunately for him, only the top-12 transfer, but he had enough speed to make the field easily.
Greg Maddox was running a strong 2nd all race until Alex Alenko happened on lap 11. Alenko had just been put a lap down, and Maddox decided to pass him there. Bad idea. Alenko's car got out from under him, and he slid into Maddox. Both cars made heavy contact with the inside wall, ending Alenko's day and putting a severe damper on Maddox's.
Enter Tom Delgado. Delgado, now racing Maddox for 5th place, gets a good run on Maddox entering the Bridge on the outside and decides to dump him head-on into the retaining wall. Maddox would go out of the race and Delgado would take a good bit of damage from that wreck.
Delgado, in his infinite wisdom, decides not to pit and near the end of lap 13 he finds himself battling with the 029 of Robert Nelson for the 10th position. Nelson gets a good run on Delgado entering the Bridge and Delgado doesn't seem all too pleased about this. He tries to hook Nelson into the retaining wall on the other side of the Bridge, but Nelson saves the car and Delgado instead goes head on into the retaining-wall, ending his day. Nelson did hit the wall, but not enough to cause major damage on the 029 Mother Energy Taurus.
Entering the final chicane on the final lap, A good battle for 2nd had emerged as a direct result of the lapped car Flint Stoneman being a Deletraz. Chris Winter, running in 3rd, tries to make a move on the 17 of David Hetzel for the 2nd position, but the 82 of Ramsey Coqinner makes a ballsy move and runs into the back of Winter, punting him out of the way. Winter gets some rear-end damage and Coqinner gets a bit of front-end damage, but both cars manage to keep their cars on the track. While Chris Winter tries to gather up his car to take it to the line, Ike Durbin passes Winter for 4th.
Top-12 transfer.

Re: Road Atlanta Qualifying
Disappointed Delgado Takes Blame for DNQ
Fresh off crashing out of the Road Atlanta qualifier, Tom Delgado was apologetic if nothing else.
"Well, I suppose I overestimated how much room I'd have when I was racing Maddox. I had the run on him, but when you're out there, things get more narrow than you think, and it just resulted in me dumping him. I'll talk to him later and make sure that he knows it wasn't intentional. As for the incident with the 029, that was just defending my position. You want to make it in this business, you have to be willing to fight for what you're worth. You're crazy if you think I'm going to let someone by without trying to defend the spot. He made the race though, so he shouldn't be too upset. I'll talk to Robert (Nelson) as well, because I believe that was good hard racing for a transfer spot. It is what it is. We'll lick our wounds and come back next time"

- Spoiler:
Damon Jones who drives the no.48 KFC Omecha MAO2 for DJ Motorsports was rather frustrated with his finish. Although his interview said something different,"I do think I could've made it if it weren't for Barton Sandy, but I was rather surprised at how I managed to at least come home 15th after the incident with Sandy at turn 1 on lap 1. Hopefully with a car as quick as it is, I may see myself racing for points very soon."
Re: Road Atlanta Qualifying
Casey Lester: That sucks. We really didn't find yhe speed we needed and we ran towards the back all race. We'll pack it up and look to the next race.

Re: Road Atlanta Qualifying
- Spoiler:
- Robert Nelson extremely happy with qualifying on debut
"Yeah I'm over the moon about making my way into the race on debut. All I'm hoping for in the race is too just stay out of trouble, and if we can do that I reckon we can get some points. The thing between me and Delgado was just hard racing, I wanted his position but he wanted it more, we got some damage out of it but nothing too bad, this Ford Taurus fuelled by Mother Energy will be fixed up and ready to go at Road Atlanta.
Re: Road Atlanta Qualifying
Everything going as planned in the DDH Racing camp
"This is just what we planned for. We have put so much effort in our non-oval track effort. And now it pays off with a good run. I think it was good that we were able to stay out of the riff-raff and what-not. Plus with the factory support from Munich I think we can contend for points, not just making races.

Re: Road Atlanta Qualifying
Foray and Woodard ecstatic that they made it in among the chaos.
Terra International Motorsports drivers Daniel Foray and Greg Woodard found themselves qualifying well and finishing in the top 10 to clinch two spots for the upcoming Round of Atlanta. "It's awesome we were able to qualify in, let's show the doubters what Lycoia is made of." TIM and Retro80 racing are the only two teams this year to be using Lycoia, "Hopefully Retro80 makes sure to focus on keeping up on reliability this year, their last chassis [Omecha] liked to flame out from underneath them." Woodard would then wish them and every other team good luck and headed to the Team Tent.

Retro80 Racing Grids All 3 Entrants for Season Opener!
In a reversal of their usual fortunes, Retro80 Racing completed the trifecta when both Pete Maverick and Stringfellow Vincent were able to make it through the qualifier and join Richard Dean MacGyver who was already locked into the field.
"It's a new year and a new attitude for Retro80 and we're off to stellar start already compared to past few seasons," stated Retro80 spokesman, Mel Lett. "The switch to Lycoia is already paying dividends."

- Spoiler:
- Alex dissapointed, blames self for DNQ
"I'm really just upset, I couldn't get up to pace and then I lost it laps later. I apoligize to the driver who was also caught up, I was just in over my head. I know that Camyron wants me to get experiance and just finish the races, but its frustraiting when you are driving for someone who has put this much support in you and this is the result you come up with"

OK
For storyline purposes his car was damaged in a practice crash and was way off the pace as a result?
